I See Your Light

Frieza's P.O.V.

"Well, I suppose it's my turn to say this," I held my arms out to my sides, bearing a wide grin, "feel free to attack any way you wish."

Zira didn't react right away, eyes narrowed as she eyed me carefully. She seemed to be contemplating her first move. The entire time I didn't pull my gaze away from her. As she demonstrated against Tagoma, her speed is uncanny compared to many others. I couldn't afford to lose sight of her for even a second-

And then she was gone, faster than I could blink.

My eyes widened in shock, and I inhaled sharply at the power level I felt behind me. Instinctively, my tail thrust forward and caught her wrist, just inches away from my neck. I looked over my shoulder to glare at her, but I didn't even have time to respond before a foot swung toward my side. I blocked with my forearm before throwing my own punch. She yanked my tail up, blocking it with my own appendage. I growled before reluctantly releasing her wrist. This gave her the chance to send a fury of punches and kicks towards me.

Despite her speed, I managed to block every attack. Once I spotted an opening, I whirled my tail around, slamming it into her stomach. She gasped in pain as she was sent flying, only managing to stop her fall once she was a few feet above the ground. I chuckled as she coughed a moment, looking up at me nervously.

"Hehehe, I admit your speed is quite extraordinary, even for a Super Saiyan. But you'll need more than speed to save your pathetic planet." I stated. Zira didn't respond, and instead got into another fighting stance, awaiting my next move.

I lifted my finger and shot multiple red energy beams, each one flying at rapid speed. She did her best to evade the mirage, swerving left and right, some she even deflected with her arms. However, one managed to strike her shoulder, causing her to cry out and grip onto it. My smile widened and I lunged forward, using the distraction as a chance to catch her off guard. I charged a purple beam in my hand, and once I was only a few feet away from her, I shot the large blast, aiming right for her chest.

She reacted quickly however, and raised her glowing red hand, causing a red energy shield to appear before her. The blast was immediately deflected, and I suddenly regretted being so close as it recishaded towards my direction. The blast sent me flying a bit, forcing me to land onto the ground. I growled, shaking off the pain to glare at the smoke cloud that formed in front of me. However, I barely had a chance to take a breath before a red light glowed from inside the cloud, and an energy blast was shot towards my direction.

I immediately took to the sky, dodging the large blast below me as it shot into a large boulder. But I didn't have enough time to react upon seeing the shadow that cast from above me. I cried out at a sharp pain in the back of my neck, causing me to go crashing towards the ground. Before I could make impact, another sharp pain in my stomach sent me flying towards my left, causing me to crash into a nearby boulder. I cried out as pain shot across my body, but I quickly shook it off and got back onto my feet, growling in frustration.

The Saiyan woman stood not too far from me, eyeing me calmly. The look in her eyes looked almost....sad. As if she pitied me. That look made me sick to my stomach.

"Do you still wish to keep going?" she asked. I slammed my tail into the ground, a loud whip like sound emitting into the air.

"Do I look like I'm done, you foolish woman?!" I snarled. I lunged forward, throwing a punch towards her face. She immediately blocked it, but her eyes widened in shock when seeing the energy beam I charged in my other hand. I smirked, raising it up towards her and firing. The blast made direct contact, and she cried out as she flew upwards, into the sky.

"Oh no! Zira!" the little bald human cried. All her friends watched in fear, eyes wide. I smirked, immediately zooming back into the sky before Zira could recover. She managed to slightly regain her composure, stopping to hover in the air, but her eyes widened upon seeing me. I gave an angry shout as I punched right into her stomach, kicked her side, hit her injured shoulder. For once, Zira couldn't match my own speed, unable to block any of my attacks. Eventually my tail sneaked up from behind her, and I wrapped it tightly around her throat. She barely stopped it from grasping around her windpipe entirely, but she struggled to hold back the tail with her fingertips.

"Ha! What's wrong, Zira?! Don't tell me this is all the skill you have? You might have immense power, but that means nothing if you don't know how to use it." I stated. The girl glared at me, teethed gritted as she struggled to keep my tail from strangling her.

"It's too bad, and here I was expecting more from you. But I guess a monkey is still just a mindless, pathetic monkey." I added, chuckling afterwards.

"Gghh....y-you might be strong....but you shouldn't waste....so much time talking....karma has a way of biting back...."

"Hehehe, you're one to talk, being caught in a death grip-"

I failed to notice the warning she was trying to give before I felt the sharp pain of teeth clenching down onto my skin.

"GAAAH!!" Instinctively I released her, and she took the chance to back away. Instant rage fueled me. That damn Goku pulled the same stupid stunt back on Namek! What the hell was with these Saiyans and biting my f**king tail!!

"GRRRRGH!!! You're going to pay for that!" I again lunged forward, but she awaited me patiently. We once again exchanged punches and kicks, flying through the sky at high speeds. We both only managed to land a few hits here and there, otherwise we blocked almost every attack we threw at each other. Our auras flared intensely at our combat, only growing stronger with our combined power. One collided punch from both of us caused us to push each other back. I took the chance to charge a large energy beam and shoot it towards her. She charged her own energy beam and shot it towards me. The two beams collided, causing a large explosion to ensue in front of us.

Smoke once again covered the sky, and I took a moment to await her next move. I couldn't help but pant heavily, my chest feeling surprisingly heavy. Zira is proving to be much more difficult than I expected. While I hated to admit it, her power was incredible, and difficult to counter. Not to mention her speed made it increasingly tricky to predict. However, once the smoke cleared, Zira was also panting hard, gripping her injured shoulder. She seemed just as tired as I was. Scratches and bruises covered her body, and her bangs stuck to her forehead.

That's when I noticed however.

I glanced down at my own form, realizing that while I was tired, I was barely harmed. A few bruises had formed from her swift punches and kicks, but otherwise I didn't feel much pain. I suddenly growled with immense irritation, clenching my fists.

"Why you wretched woman," Zira perked up, surprised by my sudden tone, "just what do you take me for, a joke?! You're holding back, aren't you?!" I snapped. Zira sighed, straightening her posture a little before replying.

"So what if I am? You're holding back too, aren't you? I can still feel the immense power your trying to keep hidden." she stated. "Yes, but don't be flattered, I couldn't care less how badly I harm you. I'm holding back my true power for my encounter with Goku. He's the only one worthy of my newfound strength. You, however, have no excuse to hold back! I am here to destroy you, your friends, and conquer this planet! Yet you still inflict minimal damage upon me! Just what is it your planning?!" I demanded.

The Saiyan's eyes widened in surprise, staring at me in surprise before her expression softened. Again that look of pity and sadness came upon her, making me growl.

"Don't you dare give me that look! Whatever pity you feel towards me is unwarranted and unwelcome!" I stated. Zira gave a soft sigh, closing her eyes and looking away. "....I'm sorry," I blinked, momentarily confused until she continued, "but I don't want to harm you. I stated from the beginning that I don't want to hurt anyone! Not even you! The only reason I'm even fighting you now is because I don't have a choice!" she stated. I stared at her for a moment, utterly confused. She's a Saiyan, is she not?! Why in the world wouldn't she want to harm me?! Doesn't she understand who I am?! Or what I've done?! Just what was she thinking?!

The confusion caused me to shake my head, tail flickering in agitation. "What kind of nonsense are you spatting out?! I am Lord Frieza, and I have every intention of destroying everyone in my path! Why would you not want to harm me?!" I demanded. Zira didn't respond right away, a shadow casting over her eyes. She opened her mouth, hesitant to speak, but eventually words did come out.

"....cause I can see it....I can see the light in your soul."

My eyes widened. She barely spoke above a whisper, and I doubt anyone around us heard her. But somehow, I could hear her loud and clear.

"....what?"

"I....I think there's a chance you change from this. I don't think you have to be like this anymore. You don't have to be evil, or harm others, or continue to be this tyrant. I think there's a chance you can change into something better....and I refuse to snuff out that possibility." she stated. She looked up, those piercing eyes staring right into mine. I couldn't help but freeze, unable to pull away from her gaze. "Please, I ask you one last time....just leave this planet, and leave my friends alone! Whatever revenge you have planned can't be worth anymore innocent lives! And it certainly can't be worth risking your own life!" she stated.

I remained motionless for a moment. To my surprise....I didn't know how to react. This woman....sees something in me? She really believes that after everything she knows about me, that I can somehow change? She genuinely cares about my life and what'll become of it. But why....why does she care? Why give me the benefit of the doubt? Why even consider giving me another chance? It doesn't make sense....she doesn't make sense!

The aura around me intensified, not realizing my body was trembling the entire time. My eyes widened, and I glared at her with strained eyes.

"SHUT THE HELL UP!!!!"
