A Cheater Exposed
Zira's P.O.V.
Everyone stared in shock, taken aback by how Frost had somehow pulled a victory. "That is ridiculous! How did Kakarot manage to lose to him?!" Vegeta growled, fists clenched. Piccolo sighed, looking away. "He got too cocky, letting his guard down and taking too many of Frost's attacks. I guess the damage caught up to him somehow." he explained.
Frieza looked completely unsatisfied, watching with narrowed eyes as Chi-Chi flew towards Goku, waking him up. "This doesn't make sense....how could he have lost? As much as I hate to admit it, I know that Saiyan has immense power, especially in his Super Saiyan form. There's no way such a weak attack could've knocked him out." he stated. His tail flickered behind him in agitation, seemingly unable to keep it still. Down below, Frost spoke to Goku for a moment, still wearing that warm smile before raising Goku's arm, prompting the crowd to cheer for him, despite his loss.
"It is rather strange....especially with how that punch connected. His fist didn't hit Goku's palm; but rather, it was his forearm that connected with it." I added. By no means did that punch have any power behind it, and yet somehow it made Goku dizzy and confused almost instantly. Something wasn't right....
The Saiyan flew towards us, landing on the platform and giving a nervous laugh. "Hehehehe, sorry guys, my bad. I guess I got carried away, huh?" he said. This didn't seem like a good excuse to Beerus, who growled as he stood up from his seat and marched towards him. "You idiot! How could you let that guy defeat you like that?! What's wrong with you?!" he snapped. Goku yelped, taken aback by his sudden outburst. I glanced at the battle-board nearby, watching as Goku's icon faded, and Piccolo's lit up instead.
"And for the next match, we'll have Frost of the 6th universe against Piccolo of the 7th universe!" the announcer stated.
The Namekian stood up upon hearing this, taking off his white cape and cap before glancing at Goku. "So, be honest here, Goku....do I stand a chance or not?" he asked. The Saiyan gave a nervous chuckle before bluntly responding. "Probably not. He's pretty tough." he admitted. Piccolo gave a small smirk before shaking his head. "That so? Well....we'll see about that." he stated. He flew off the platform and landed down at the arena below. Almost immediately afterwards, Jaco leaped off the spectator platform and landed on our own platform, helping himself to the bench.
"Jaco? What're you doing here?" I asked. "Sorry, I can just see better from up here. That's all." Jaco replied casually. However I noticed his gaze was focused intently on Frost below, watching carefully, as if expecting something. Did he see something in the previous match that I didn't? Champa shot a blast at his gong above him, and it gave a loud ring throughout the dome.
"Aaaand, you may begin!" the announcer stated.
Frost gave a small chuckle, looking ahead at Piccolo. "Since you've had the benefit of seeing every trick up my sleeve, all I have left is my resolve," he got into a fighting stance, a determined expression on his face, "that should be more than enough to stop you!" he stated. He charged forward with a punch, but Piccolo teleported away, causing him to whirl around and look at the Namekian up in the air. Piccolo raised a couple fingers to his forehead, and a yellow light started to glow above his face. I gasped.
"Whoa - he's gonna use his Special Beam cannon!" I stated. Goku smiled wide, watching excitedly. "Oh yeah, if Frost gets hit with that, he's done for! This'll be awesome!" he stated.
Frost narrowed his eyes as he watched Piccolo carefully. "It looks like you're preparing to unleash some sort of spectacular technique," he soon wore a confident smirk as he spoke, "but it takes time, doesn't it? Requiring you to focus and build a tremendous amount of energy before you use it." Only a couple minutes into the match, and Frost has already figured out Piccolo's special technique. This wasn't going to be easy for Piccolo.
Frost started to shoot multiple red energy blasts towards the Namekian, causing his to fly around and dodge each one. He eventually had to use a blast of his own to push himself down onto the floor. Frost took the chance to fly higher and continue his mirage of energy blasts, but Piccolo dodged each one almost effortlessly, doing extraordinary flips and ducks. The more he missed, the more frustrated Frost's expression became.
"That's it! Don't stop now!" Beerus stated. I narrowed my eyes as I felt anxiety fill me again, and I clutched onto my necklace. Those blasts were getting awfully close each time. With careful enough precision, one blast could easily become lethal....it wasn't long before my body started to tremble again. Dammit, this is why I hate tournaments like this. I can barely watch one without becoming somewhat nervous of the participant's outcome.
After dodging a few more blasts, Piccolo leaped up and shot a yellow blast from his antenna. Frost's eyes widened as he flew back to the ground, barely dodging the attack. Piccolo flew up and shot another one, but Frost looked more prepared this time.
"Nice try, but no." he stated, shooting a single red blast, causing the two blasts to collide and explode. Once the smoke cleared, Frost brought both his hands togethers and resumed his energy blast mirage, desperately trying to shoot at the Namekian. However, Piccolo could only dodge for so long in midair before a red blast went right through his upper leg, and he gasped out in pain. I inhaled sharply, watching with wide eyes as Piccolo began to fall towards the ground, before catching himself with one hand and pushing himself onto his one good leg. Despite the constant distractions and the injury, Piccolo still held that energy on his fingers, not once losing concentration.
"You're concentration is impressive. However, with that wound, you won't be dodging anymore." he stated with a smile.
However that smile quickly turned into an expression of confusion as Piccolo started to form duplicates on the arena, surrounding Frost. "What? Duplicates...." he murmured.
"Hey! These matches are supposed to be one on one, not one on thirty! Hey, ref, yell at him about it! Or better yet, make him run! Disqualify him now!" Champa called out in outrage. Although the announcer shook his head. "That technique is allowed. There are no rules against it." he stated.
"This is nuts. I wonder how Frost is gonna get outta this...." Goku said to himself, watching curiously. Frieza remained silent, watching and studying Frost's every move carefully.
Frost remained in the center of the Piccolo duplicates, spinning around as he shot multiple energy blasts from his fingers. It barely shot any away though, and the energy Piccolo was building up began to get even bigger. It wouldn't be long till it was ready - Frost seemed to catch onto this, judging by his frustrated expression. He finally brought his hands together, a large red aura forming around him before an energy wave expelled from his body. It struck all the duplicates, leaving only the real Piccolo standing.
No longer surrounded, Frost charged forward with a smirk, and started to throw multiple punches. Piccolo began to block each one with one hand, but it seemed difficult when charging that technique at the same time.
"If Frost knocks his hand away, he'll lose that attack." Whis stated. "He's took close - get some space!" Goku called out. It didn't seem to matter though, as Frost delivered a swift kick right onto Piccolo's injured leg, making him grunt in pain. The alien quickly followed up with a swift punch into his stomach....and the energy in Piccolo's fingers finally slipped away.
"Oh no...." he muttered. He looked up just in time to see Frost leap up and give a harsh kick into his chest, causing him to skid back quite a few feet. Frost once again smirked, closing his eyes in satisfaction.
"Looks like I win."
"Oh really?" Suddenly Piccolo stretched out his arm, long enough to wrap around Frost tightly, not only immobolizing him but catching him completely off guard. "What the?!" he growled, tugging at Piccolo's long limb, but to no avail. Now it was Piccolo's turn to wear a wide smirk. "Ghh, what is this?!" Frost growled, glaring at Piccolo.
"You played right into my hands, Frost. Two things are gonna happen; I hold you in place as I charge myself up, and then....Special Beam cannon."
Frost's eyes narrowed. "I was paying close attention to that energy you were focusing. When I saw it slip from your fingers, I thought you lost all chance at victory." he stated. "So you let your guard down, didn't you?" Piccolo replied, his smirk growing just a bit wider. Frost's eyes widened slightly in realization. "Are you saying....getting shot in the leg was all part of your plan to lower my defenses?" he asked. The Namekina gave a firm nod. I had expected the alien to reply with some sort of insult, but instead he gave an impressed smile.
"Hehehe, well you got me good. Guess you literally had this trick up your sleeve. I can't possibly see anyway for me to dodge your attack now." he admitted. I was surprised by his calm demeanor. Why wasn't he more nervous about that attack? Doesn't he realize he's about to lose? "I may not look like much, but in the seventh universe, I passed for resourceful. In the end, underestimating me proved to be your biggest mistake." Piccolo stated. As he spoke though, I noticed something....Frost was slowly moving his arm up, having his forearm connect with Piccolo's arm.
"It's gonna happen again!" I thought.
"Ready?! Special Beam-" Piccolo stopped mid-sentence, his eyes suddenly growing wide. Then, just like Goku, his eyes became half-lidded and unfocused. His legs trembled slightly, struggling to stand up. He seemed to have trouble keeping an eye on Frost. It wasn't long till Piccolo lost his grip around Frost's body, and the alien was able to slip out with ease.
"Now's my chance!" he stated. Piccolo growled as he retracted his arm, preparing to point the energy blast towards Frost.
"D-Dammit..." he growled, slowly regaining focus. But it was too late - Frost already lunged forward, just inches in front of the Namekian, who's eyes widened in shock. "If I had taken that blast, I would've lost for sure....you put up a good fight though." That was the last thing Frost said before bringing his hand to Piccolo's chest....and shooting an energy blast right through it.
I gasped, eyes wide with fright. I could only watch as Piccolo let out a pained gasp, landing on his back as the Special Beam cannon escaped to the top of the dome, creating a small hole at the top.
"Gah!! My beautiful dome! I thought it was shatter proof!" Champa cried, but Vados only rolled her eyes. "I'll fix it, don't worry." she stated as she raised her glowing staff, sealing the hole immediately.
"Piccolo!!" I cried, but got no response as he laid on the ground unconscious. The announcer rain towards the Namekian, kneeling down and feeling his neck for a pulse. "He can't continue....but he is alive!" he stated. I let out a sigh of relief, slowly loosening the hold on my necklace. "There's no need to be so concerned. He's a Namekian, he can regenerate quite quickly, or have you forgotten that?" Frieza stated. I didn't respond and just continued to look down at the ring, seeing Frost wear a satisfied smile.
"And Frost is the winner!" the announcer stated. There wasn't as much cheering this time around, but more surprised murmuring among the spectators.
"H-He lost?!" Beerus stuttered in shock, eyes wide. Goku sighed, hand on his forehead. "Oh man, he's pretty hard to beat, isn't he?" he said.
"Objection!" everyone looked to Jaco in surprise, who stood on the bench so everyone could see him.
"Huh? What's the problem?" the announcer down below asked. "He cheated! He used a weapon, which is clearly against the rules! Search his arm, you'll see!" Jaco stated, pointing at Frost accusingly. Frost didn't reply, but rather kept his cool, closing his eyes and remaining silent. "Are you sure about that?" the announcer asked.
"Yes, I'm sure! These eyes have never failed me!" Jaco stated, wearing a confident expression. Champa growled, seeming annoyed with the accusation, but relaxed into his seat. "Fine then, search him if you want. But if he finds nothing - I say we destroy you for wasting our time!" he stated, pointing at Jaco. This caused the Galactic Patrolman to wince, his confidence quickly withering away as he sat back down.
"Hehehe, on second thought, maybe not-"
"No, go on and search him," we looked to Vegeta in surprise as he spoke, "if we're wrong, it's only Jaco. No one cares about him." he replied almost casually. Jaco blinked, opening his mouth to argue, but Frieza interrupted him. "Yes, I'd like to see for myself. I find it too convenient Frost can manage to be this lucky." he stated. The announcer looked unsure, but nodded, walking over to the calm Frost. Frost made no movement, and didn't resist as the announcer looked him up and down, searching for anything he could be hiding.
At first, it didn't seem like there was anything as he ran his hands down Frost's arms....that was, till he ran his fingers over a tiny hole on Frost's forearm. I could barely see it, but I did notice it - a tiny needle inside. The announcer perked up, poking at the needle with his finger. Almost instantly the announcer blinked, his eyes becoming hazy and taking a few dizzy steps back.
"There's....something's not right...." he murmured. Then the crowd gasped as the announcer fell back, still barely conscious. The Saiyan from Universe 6 stood up from his seat, watching in shock. "No way....this can't be!! I know Frost, we fought alongside each other! This has to be some sort of mistake!" he cried. Frost, who still seemed as calm as ever, slowly raised his arm to further show off the needle.
"I can assure you, this isn't a weapon. It's a part of my body." he stated. The announcer stood up, regaining self-awareness as he glared at Frost. "No, there's clearly signs of trickery here! For breaking the rules, Frost will immediately be disqualified!" he stated.
"No way!! How can this happen?!" Champa cried. "I don't get it....why would someone as honorable as Frost do something so underhanded?!" the other Saiyan replied. "Gentlemen, the truth is quite simple," Vados explained earning the attention of both of them, "This is who the great mister Frost truly is. You see, those space pirates who attacked the many planets he saved are part of an underworld crime syndicate....and mister Frost here, is the group's leader."
The spectators all gasped in shock, staring at Frost in shock. I probably would've been more shocked myself, had I not looked into his soul at the beginning of Goku's match. Similar to Frieza, his soul was almost entirely black....almost. I did see the potential bit of light inside him, though.
Frost's smirk widened, and he slowly opened his eyes. "You accuse me of such terrible things, Vados. I'm so hurt...." that definitely didn't seem to be the case though as he burst into laughter, laced in it's own venomous evil. Everyone almost seemed disturbed as he continued to spoke. "Yes, I start my own wars, but then I resolve them. And buy up all the war ravaged land - at bargain prices! After that, I make a killing off the very lucrative post-reconstruction profits!"
He slowly looked down with a satisfied smile. "I'm telling ya, it's quite a business model I've cooked up here. I'm the problem and the solution." he stated. Beerus narrowed his eyes.
"It's funny, now he doesn't seem all that different from Frieza." he stated. I let out a small sigh of disappointment as the spectators started to boo at him. I had my suspicions from the beginning that Frost wasn't the kind person he played off to be. But even after knowing the truth, a part of me still wanted to believe I was wrong.
Dark chuckling beside me caught my attention, and I looked over to see Frieza had a wide smile on his face.
"I knew it. I knew he wasn't the hero everyone played him out to be....I was right to suspect him from the very beginning."
