[(~•3•~)]
Third POV.
At CatCo.
'Of course, leave it to media magnate, Cat Grant, to put a name to a face. Miss Grant dubbed National City's new female hero, 'Supergirl.' and 'Shadow Flare.' And if Twitter is any indicator, the names appear to be catching on.' The news reporter says from the TV. Kara adopts a shocked face and heads into Cat Grant's office to speak with her.
"'Supergirl'? We can't name her that!" Kara exclaims.
"'We' didn't." Cat says, obviously annoyed.
"Right, I'm sorry. It's just, uh I don't want to minimise the importance of this." Kara stammers. "A female superhero. Shouldn't she be called Superwoman?"
"I'm sorry, darling, I just can't hear you over the loud color of your cheap pants." Cat says. Kara exhales before continuing.
"If we call her 'Supergirl,' something less than what she is, doesn't that make us guilty of being anti-feminist?" Kara asks. Didn't you say she was a hero?"
"I'm the hero. I stuck a label on the side of these girls, I branded them. They will forever be linked to Catco, to the Tribune, to me. And what do you think is so bad about 'Girl'? Huh? I'm a girl. And your boss, and powerful, and rich, and hot and smart. So if you perceive 'Supergirl' as anything less than excellent, isn't the real problem you? And if you're so smart, Kerah, could you please give me one reason why I shouldn't fire you?" Cat asks in her rant. James rushes in with papers to 'save the day'.
"I printed it. And it's an even higher resolution than you hoped for." James smiles at Kara and Cat.
"James. You are interrupting a very craftily worded termination." Cat states like if she's scolding a child.
"Kara wanted to surprise you, but she has a teller friend that works at West National City Bank." James says before looking at Kara before whispering. "The branch that got robbed."
"Right! Right, yes, I went there. You know, it took me a while to park my car in the streets. The one-way streets are so confusing." Kara chuckles in nervousness before James clears his throat. "You tell it so much better." James chuckles before clearing his throat again and facing Cat.
"Kara convinced her source to allow us to use a photograph that she captured."
"You got a clean image of Supergirl? Kerah, if you can't take credit when you do something well, you are gonna be at the bottom of the pile forever. But, mazel tov. You bought yourself another day." Cat says and dismisses them, Kara walks beside James.
"I was handling the situation." She hisses in a whisper.
"Oh, yeah? What was your plan? To get yelled at and fired? 'Cause that was working." He says playfully.
"I don't need you or anyone else–fighting my battles for me." Kara says before she hears a high-pitched squeal.
'I'm communicating at 50,000 hertz. If you can hear this'
"You okay?" James asks, even though Kara was focusing on the painful voice in her ears. It seemed that Patricia was having a similar problem, but in the secluded area of her office.
'you were not born on this Earth.' The voice finishes it's sentence.
"I, uh Yeah, I I have a headache. I need some water." Kara says, walking away and through the hallways to get away.
'Painful, isn't it? The humans of National City will suffer Meet me at the National City Power Plant. How many innocent people are going to die until you prove that you are not a coward Daughter of Alura, and child of Lykonia?' The voice asks and Kara changes into Supergirl and Patricia simply changed into an all black outfit with a mask. They both listen for his heart beat after they tried using their X-Ray vision, but couldn't find him.
"Clever. Picking a spot lined with lead. But I can still hear your heartbeat." Vartox then pins Kara to the ground. Kara grunts and pants.
"On my planet, females bow before males." He sneers.
"This is not your planet." Patricia says as she kicks him off of Kara. She helps her up from the ground before facing Vartox again.
"You look like Alura." Vartox says to Kara.
"How do you know my mother's name?"
"You don't easily forget the name of the woman who condemned you to prison."
"Fort Rozz?" Patricia asks.
"She was our judge and jailer. Can't kill her. So killing you will have to do." He tries to attack Kara and she groans. Vartox grunts and you can hear electricity crackling. Patricia tries to help best she can but he simply swings his axe at her and it cuts deeply into her side. "Just because you wear that symbol on your chest doesn't mean you're him. Fighting him would be an honor. Fighting you is just exercise." He rants while Kara just grunts. "You actually think that you could stop me? That you'd be able to stop any of us?" Kara groans, fighting back while Vartox grunts before he struck her arm with his axe, causing a wound. "Now you know what it's like to bleed. Soon, your whole city will bleed." He chokes Kara before there is an explosion behind them. Vartox runs off.
"Trap One, pursue the hostile." Alex says as she lowers from the helicopter.
'Copy that.' The man says through the radio.
"Hey, hey, I'm here. I got you, I got you. You're gonna be okay." Alex says as she helps Kara. Another man shows up, in ripped jeans and a red shirt and leather jacket. He rushes to the wounded Patricia and helps her to the DEO with Alex and Kara. Alex helps bandage both heroes before Kara walks with her away. The strange man stares at Patty while she is unconscious, obviously worried for her.
"I never felt pain like that before. Uh, I've never felt pain." Kara says in shock as she walks with Alex.
"You're not indestructible, Kara." Alex says as Hank comes up to them.
"Nice move nearly letting that alien cut you in half." He says with some kind of sarcasm. "If we can ID his weapon, it might give us a way to defeat him." He says before looking at the screen. "Look at that." He laughs. "You did help."
"Did you know about my mom? That she was the one who locked up all those aliens?" Kara asks Alex while Hank leaves.
"It's why I didn't want you going out there. Showing yourself, showing this." She gestures to Kara's costume. "The Fort Rozz escapees would give anything to get revenge on your mother and the only way that they can do that now is to hurt you. I'm trying to protect you."
"You were right. The world doesn't need me." Kara leaves and goes to her apartment.
Patty's POV.
I wake up on a medical table. I look over to see a man with blonde hair and captivating green eyes.
"H-Henry?" I whisper hoarsely. I try to get up but see handcuffs of Kryptonite. "That won't work on me Director Henshaw." I state firmly as Henry releases my arms. Hank Henshaw simply stood at the doorway, watching me. "God my head hurts... What happened?"
"You and Supergirl fought Vartox. He hit you with his axe, causing a deep wound in your side." Henry explains. "It healed up nicely when we removed the fragments from it."
"When did you get into town?" I ask as Henshaw decides to leave us in privacy.
"Well, your mom told me you took up Super-hero-ing, so I had to come see if you were okay. My brother got hired at CatCo, so that gives me another excuse." He shrugs and I pull him into a hug. "I missed you too Shortstuff. But be careful, our kind doesn't heal as fast as Kryptonians. You need to try not to open the wound. It'll take a day or two to finish healing properly."
"Okay, let's get back to CatCo..." I sigh and he helps me back. I change back to my regular outfit and get back to designing.
Third POV.
"It's Agent Danvers and her sister from another planet." Hank states after chuckling.
"She's here to help us fight Vartox." Alex says back.
"I told you I don't trust aliens." Hank says sternly.
"There's no one I trust more." Alex looks over at Kara and smiles. "Like her cousin, she was sent here, too, to help us. And if you want any more of my help, we're gonna let her."
"I found Vartox." A female soldier who usually works with the computers states. Her name is Vasquez. "Sir. Uh, ma'ams."
"Where?" Alex asks.
"The sliver of metal you extracted from Supergirl's arm, and Shadow Flare's side. Vartox's axe has a unique nuclear thumbprint. Satellites picked him up heading towards the city." Vasquez states.
"Vartox said he was ready to start killing humans." Kara confirms.
"Order a strike team to intercept." Hank says into the comm.
"Your men will not be able to stop him." Kara says confidently.
"Thank you for your opinion, Miss Danvers." Hank says, walking away, but Kara stops him.
"Director Henshaw. People of this city will die because of something I did. I started this. You have to let me stop it."
"Make sure you win." He states firmly.
