At Kara's date. (Third POV still)
Kara was sitting across her date as the music in the bar played loudly.
"So, where you from originally?" He asks, seemingly bored.
"Like where was I born? Um, uh, north." She lies. His phone vibrates and he takes it and checks it before chuckling.
"I gotta hit this back real quick." He walks away and Kara uses her super hearing. "Check please. Make sure your number's on it." Kara sighs before watching the TV.
'If you're just joining us, shortly after take-off, National City Airlines, Flight 237 bound for Geneva, is experiencing some loss of altitude. The pilot seems to be circling the city after apparent engine failure.' The news man states.
"Did he say Geneva? Alex." Kara asks before running out to the alley. She flies up to the plane and heard sirens and people screaming.
"We just lost another engine. Mayday. Mayday. Mayday." One of the pilots say into the radio. More people scream and there's indistinguishable shouting. "Flight attendants, brace for impact." The pilot says before Kara, and an unknown woman, fly under the plane and uses their super strength. Metal clanks and the engine roars. "We're leveling off."
"Oh, come on!" Kara grunts in protest as something goes wrong. She grunts as they both tilt the plane to avoid collapsing the bridge the was in the way. They crash land the plane in the waters. People inside the plane cheer before seeing the two women, on either side of the plane. They start taking photos and videos of the two. They both fly off into separate directions, both soaking wet. Kara flies into her room and takes a shower and dries off before sitting in front of the TV.
Next day.
'Good morning, National City. Our top story, the only story anyone's talking about. Who are the mystery flying women who saved the plane?' A news man asks on TV. The elevator dings and opens to show Kara. She walks out and walks with Winn. There's indistinct talking around the office.
'Despite extensive efforts, no one has been able to identify who, or rather, what these women are.' A female news reporter says on TV.
"Pretty cool, huh?" Kara asks Winn as she hands a paper to the secretary.
"Two plane-saving ladies?" Winn asks before scoffing. "How is the world supposed to take them seriously if they can't even come up with a suit? What Metropolis gets him and what does National City get? Some rookie superheroes?" Kara's face falls before she heads into a meeting with Cat Grant and the other reporters. Patricia is also there.
"I know many of you are used to being second best but it's new to me. The most incredible event in the history of National City and yet we have no exclusive of any kind." Cat states strictly.
"We don't have much to go on." One reporter says.
"The image we're working off is low res I guess she's around 5'9". It's tough to Gauge with her height measured up against an airplane." Another states, obviously guessing.
"Hair color brown." Another shouts. "Or black."
"Or maybe her hair is just dirty. You know, from soot." James says, glancing at Kara. Cat smirks at her daughter before getting a stoic face. "The plane exhaust."
"James, you make an excellent point. Do you think there's any connection–between this hero and–" Cat starts but James cuts her off.
"To my friend in blue? I don't know. I mean, not that he mentioned, but if she's anything like him, she's a hero. Saving people is what they're born to do. She'll be back." He says confidently.
"Hmm. They better be. These girls are the answer. They are exactly what I need to save the Tribune. Besides fatty foods, there is nothing people love more than a hero. We are going to blow them up. We will feature them online and in the paper, but we need images, we need video, we need an interview, and exclusive content. So go. Go get me those girls. And, Kerah Go get me a lettuce wrap." Cat states as everyone leaves her office afterwards. James walks beside Kara as Patricia goes to Winn and talks to him.
"It's funny. That was the first thing he did. Save a plane, I mean." James tells Kara before walking off. Kara exhales before walking to Winn's desk, where Patricia was talking to him.
"Winn, Patty, I need to talk to you both on the roof." She states confidently before walking off.
"The roof?" Winn asks nervously before going into the roof with Patricia. He was super nervous. "Kara? Hey, uh, just whatever you have to say, can you make it quick? I'm not really into being this high up."
"Okay, um, Winn, Patty, I'm going to tell you both something about me that only three people in my life know. Can I trust you?" She asks.
"Yeah, yeah, of course." Winn nods enthusiastically. Patricia nods solemnly.
"Good. Um, I just I really want someone to be excited for me. And I, um–Right, how do–Uh, there's something about me that for most of my life, I've run from it. But last night, I embraced who I am and I don't want to stop." Kara starts, fiddling with her words.
"Oh, my God, you're a lesbian. Oh, Kara, that's why you're not into me. This is, this is great news!" Winn jumps to conclusions and Patty takes Kara's hand as she gets frustrated.
"No. I'm not gay! I'm–I'm her!" She states, then sighs. "The woman who saved the plane!" She chuckles, then Winn chuckles as though she's kidding. Patty rubs Kara's arm, knowing she's telling the truth.
"Okay. Yeah, okay. Right." He says as though she was pranking them. Kara looks at him angrily, let's go of Patty's hand, and walks closer to the edge of the roof. "Kara, what are you doing? Hey, Kara! Hey, get away from the ledge, you're gonna get hurt. Kara! Hey!" He panics as she falls off, Patty and him run to the edge in panic before Kara jumps over the edge, above them, and lands, fixing her glasses. "You're–You're her!"
"Yup." She chuckles at his amazement and Patty just hugs Kara close in relief.
Timeskip to after work.
"So, how is it? Huh? How does it fit?" Winn asks from Kara's living room, Patty sitting beside him. Kara walks into the room with short shorts and a weird looking top...
"I'm not flying around saving people in this thing. I–I wouldn't even wear it to the beach. Where's my cape?" She asks, trying to cover herself. Patty hands her a different suit, knowing she'd like it better.
"Capes are lame. You can tell your cousin I said so. Actually, never, never do that." Winn says, going back to his computer. Kara clears throat after taking off her glasses. Winn inhales sharply after seeing her beautiful profile without the glasses. Patty smiles at the two. "Oh. Kara, you look really pretty without your glasses." Winn says, dreamily.
"Winn." Kara states as Patty elbows him in the side.
"So, uh–To be a superhero you need a crime. I hacked into the NCPD. There's a car chase on the 112 freeway." Winn states, turning to his laptops.
"I could do a car chase!" Kara flies off and flies face first into a hill after the car turns sharply.
"A cape aids with aerodynamics." Patty sighs as Kara comes back out in the new suit with the cape.
"I should have thought of that." Winn sighs.
'West National City Bank. Reporting a 432. Sixth and Spring. Suspects are armed and dangerous.' The a man from the police radio states.
"You, uh You're sure you're bulletproof?" Winn asks.
"Hope so." Kara states. During the shooting, the cape gains holes in it.
"All right, the new cape is made from a structured polymer composite. It's much sturdier than–And, uh..." Winn chuckles, almost sadly. "This one has the 'S.' for 'Super', just like your cousin."
"It's not an 'S'. It's my family's coat of arms. The House of El." Kara says as she looks into the mirror.
'Four-alarm fire at Gates and Igle.' Another officer says from the radio.
"I'm assuming you can't catch on fire." Party asks.
Kara flies off and listens for the site before getting shot out of the sky.
