Chapter 5

A protective, secure, and private base was the only form of home the villain could call. Everyone else had families. Everyone else could just leave for the day and get a call when needed. The soldiers had wives or husbands to return to and children to raise. Him? If it weren't for this building, he would have nothing. That itself wasn't enough. I guess karma left him that way. You try to claim a planet for yourself, and end up losing your life instead.
The cries from Prince Vekar about the death of one of his own crushed deeply. He enraged Kent, burned his soul. He was it. He was the last piece of the empire and he was now declared murdered. For that, it encouraged the skilled enemy to kill. To stab and take care of those who double crossed the Armada and his family. Those who put his world in jeopardy. The list had grown day by day, with at least 9 dead before sundown.
Darkness had tempted him, consumed what was left of his character. Heart turned cold and twisted, no sense of any positive emotion. Passionate to get rid of any possible thing or alien or even human standing in his way. The alien missed his father every passing day. He was not going to allow his legacy to be forgotten. And if he had to end another legacy from continuing for many more generations, well that's something he had no problem in fufilling.
Kent had been busy in bandaging himself. Wrapping up the wounds on his stomach and arms while applying medical ointment. He was pretty confident those Rangers went home broken and he was only bruised. That alone was a win. The room was silent for the most part, only the sounds of him using tools to patch his cuts and small towels to sop up any dripping blood. A medical staff would be much appreciated. Any sign of care or comfort is appreciated, but never given.
It didn't take long for him to finish his stomach. His left arm was currently being treated. As he wrapped the cloth around the bruise, the antagonist gazed at what was sitting on top of the drawer beside the front door. The object laid flat on top, closed. It had been there for not even a week. The item was large, light, and very valuable. It was the book.
The previous day had been the day where one of his soldiers gifted him with information. Insights on battle gear and secrets forbidden to be shared. That was only the beginning, and this elated the man. Nevertheless, he hesitated to use it. Inside unlocked secrets that were helpful, yet threatening in the wrong hands. Not every detail was hit but, it was enough to have an edge. Still, it had only been skimmed through once, and not intented to be reopened.

'I can't,' Kent thought, still looking at the book, 'not yet, I have to wait. Good things happen for those who wait.'

Leaving the beach and heading to her place to prepare for tonight, Savannah casually strolled down the streets of Harwood County. She naturally walked pretty fast so it didn't seem all that casual. Though her goal was her house, that didn't stop the young redhead from looking around from time to time. The view of the city was pleasant. Decent weather, good food, mostly nice people, and fair prices in markets and clothing stores. She has known this forever. And while she relatively did not hate it, she could not call it home either.
The where she was born, Earth itself, none of it felt completely right. Preferring one over the other differs from being secure and feeling normal. Although, one of them has what she's been yearning for her whole life. Freedom. It was granted to her. She had been taking advantage of it ever since she found a way to make it work. In fact it was the only choice she's ever made. And while she was grateful, niether planet was truly satisfying, especially with Kent around. He was a threat no matter where she went, and is inescapable unless death swallows him whole.
While tangling with her thoughts and emotions, the young warrior crossed the street after cars had stopped for her to walk. She passed others traveling in the opposite direction. Her presence struck them as they recognized who see she was. Savannah paid them no attention, too lost in thought to care. Returning to the sidewalk, she kept moving. After a few seconds went by, a hand reached out to grip her wrist and yank her behind a corner. Vanni was caught off guard as she kneed who had grabbed her in the gut. The person yelped, not liking the pain.

"Mommy..." Daniel winced in a high pitched voice, his body bending forward.

"What Daniel?" Savannah asked, irritated.

"What's in your knee? Boulders?" Daniel questioned, trying to stand up straight, "damn girl."

"You're not answering my question." Savannah pressed, waiting for a proper response.

Daniel was slowly able to stand appropriately and went on to respond to Vanni, "I have to show you something. It's serious."

"What's wrong?" Savannah inquired, still annoyed but also concerned.

"Just come with me." Daniel urged, gripping her wrist again.

He teleported the both of them away from Earth. Savannah had not known where he was taking her but, she had to believe he was telling the truth. It only took seconds before they arrived at their destination. A pair of doors greeted them, and began to upset the teenage girl. The two pushed their way into the area, greeted by Carla, who had a smile on her face.

"Hey." She said.

Savannah sighed, her silently wanting to strangle her, "wow, I should've saw this coming."

"I knew this was the only way to get you here." Daniel admitted, knowing how smart the young redhead is.

Savannah nodded, "so, where is she?"

"Savannah." A woman called out after her question.

Turning around, the young warrior found herself being reunited with a person she couldn't stand to be near. The sight of her was aggravating. The woman walked towards the three of them, silently. She peered at the young redhead, who had her arms crossed impatiently waiting to get this over with. The two stood face to face, eyes locking and piercing at one another, making the tension rise and moment awkward.

'Welp, this is lovely.' Daniel thought to himself.

"Hi mom." Carla quickly greeted to break up the weird, soundless moment.

Elaine's attention remained on Savannah as she replied with, "hi Carla."

"Hi mom." Daniel followed Carla's lead.

"Zip up your pants Danny," Elaine told him as she walked past the three. Daniel looked down and saw the zipper all the way open. He adjusted it before going to join the women, who were walking with Elaine, "I like your team."

"Of course you do." Savannah counteracted sarcastically, "Why wouldn't you?"

"I'm surprised that they were jumped at the chance to challenge him. Kent is a lot tougher than what I've seen in the past," Elaine continued, ignoring Savannah's comment, "and their powers prove to be useful."

"I agree, but we shouldn't rush this. They have to trust us, not be freaked out." Carla said.

"We haven't even met them yet, so it wouldn't hurt to tell them when we do." Daniel disagreed.

"Who the hell cares?" Savannah chimed herself in before spatting at Elaine, "Can't I have some sanity with normal people without you digging your claws and trying to do things your way?"

"Your normal people are Power Rangers." Daniel combatted her question.

"Yeah well they're more normal than all of you combined." Savannah stuck by her point.

The four stopped walking once they reached the main hall. A huge room, velvet burgundy carpet, and a case of stairs leading to another floor. Elaine turned around to face the three.

"I have to meet your friends, their skills are the advantage we have." She said.

"We have plenty of soldiers to protect this place." Savannah argued.

"Half of them are dead and we could use reinforcements." Elaine retorted.

"They're not your soldiers," Savannah quarreled, with an edge to her voice, "they're not yours to control."

"They'll adjust over time and I'll make sure they do," Elaine raised her voice, causing worry to grow in Daniel and Carla.

"That's not your choice! It's theirs and I won't let you take that away from them." Savannah snapped at her.

"Don't use that tone with me." Elaine warned her

"Then don't think you have ANY control over them...or me." Vanni shot back with a glare.

She tried to turn and leave, but Elaine grabbed her arm and squeezed it tight, making it painful.

"Mother..." Carla called, not wanting a bigger fight to ensue.

Savannah stared down at where Elaine had gripped her and locked eyes with her again, "you're lucky I let you live on there. You do as I say and you can bitch and disagree for an enternity. You cannot have a say in this. Bring them to me tonight, understood?"

'Asshole.' Savannah thought to herself, however snagged her arm away from her and answered with, "got it."

She then turned and exited the hall, pissed.
