Chapter 4

The conference finally ended, leaving a stressed Carla to pace back and forth in her building. She hated the constant tension within her family. Always power vs. power. Not in the way you think however. It's about who has it and controls people with it against who wishes they could have it. And while their situation makes sense in why it was this way, Carla was growing tired of how long this has been happening.

"You could pass my pacer test moving like that," Daniel joked with a small smile. Carla did not respond, causing him to talk more, "look, let's just tell her Savannah's busy-"

"Mom knows she'll do anything to avoid her. You know those two can't even be in the same room without one of us being there." Carla cut him off.

She sighed, with Daniel looking to his left with his eyes for a moment before suggesting, "kidnap and hang them?"

Carla turned and put a hand on her hip replying with, "you want us to kidnap and hang two wild animals?"

"Last time I checked they're..." Daniel realized what she meant once 'the look' came into affect. The other head of the River's Foundation shook it off and continued talking, "look it doesn't matter, they need to talk."

That is when Carla started to smirk, making Daniel confused and prompted him to ask, "what?"

"Oh they're gonna talk, I have an idea." Carla said mischeviously.

Making her way into the city, the young redhead was moving at a fast pace. The information she had just received was something the team needed to be notified about. Taking out her phone, Savannah called the first name that had popped up amongst the team members. After a few minutes, she didn't get an answer. She tried again. Nothing. That was a sign and it worried her greatly.
Utilizing her teleportation power would be the best option but, Vanni had another solution. She reached higher ground by hopping on top of a dumpster standing against an old dive and pushing her body up to the roof of a building. Once she was back on her two feet, her eyes scanned the city. Sensing danger, she used her abilities to be able to hear from afar. Sounds of grunts, clashing, hit and slams came into her ears. And that provoked her.
Savannah started to run. She flipped off of the roof to rush back to Jake's house, shoving past others and running with the speed of the Flash. Her heart thumped like a drum line at a school football game, which she had never been to. Concern levels increased and it only made her run faster, if that were possible. After dealing with this guy for so long, the blue eyed beauty prayed for her comrades to be okay.

"Argh!" Gia groaned as her back hit the floor for what felt like the fifth time.

Noah was next to go down, followed by Troy, who rolled backwards and ended up on his knees. He pushed himself up and helped the blur ranger stand while Gia got back to her feet alone. Emma and Orion tried to hold the enemy off while Jake morphed. The others followed suit.

"Legendary Ranger Mode, SPD!" They called.

With speed and agility, the four of them combined their abilities to create a powerful strike. Both the pink and silver ranger, who nearly fell to the ground, moved out of the way as their teammates spun through the air and came down with a slash. Kent returned to the floor, sliding into the concrete. The commotion in the neighborhood, starting with the broken door, had people watching through their windows. And unfortunately, some of them had their phone out.

"Nice hit." Orion complimented his friends, who seemed proud for the moment.

"Yeah," Kent agreed as he stood back up. The heroes turned to look at him and prepared for his next attack, "nice hit."

He wiped some pebbles off of his suit, which received a few scratches and a broken piece, "I must say this power...intrigues me. Under it is something meant to break," He had fire rise from his hands, his voice growing dark and scary, "don't be afraid. This'll only burn a little."

Planting his feet securely to the floor, Kent's fire began to blast fiercely. The heroes were about to quickly morph to hold him off. Instead however, this caused the red and pink ranger to take immediate action. Fighting fire with fire was never something to look up to, but in this case, it had to be used. The Rangers were astonished at what occured next. A bright, enflamed, golden aura surrounded the leader as he and his fellow Sky Ranger pushed their hands forward to create a shield around them and their teammates. This blocked off Kent's attack, and it surprised him.
Was this part of their Ranger abilities? How? Why wasn't it shown before? When did they know? Why did they wait until now to use it? So many questions that had to be put on hold. The shield was difficult to maintain due to it being used for the first time. Emma and Troy grunted a little at the intensity, making the others worried as Kent relentlessly attempted to end them. The team had to back up as he came closer. Looking back at her, the Dragon leader told the pink Phoenix, "I got it."

Emma gave him an incredulous stare, but did as she was told when he raised his eyebrow commandingly. Facing the armor covered alien, the red ranger began having de ja vu. The glow. The golden glow that gave him pain a couple weeks after the Legendary Battle. The glow that at the same time assisted in the fight to save Robo Knight from mind control. It had returned, and it dangerously worked. So much so, the leader was able to push Kent backwards.
That was the perfect moment for the others to attack. Spreading out, the team vanished, leaving the villain perplexed a bit. He stopped his blast, with Troy dropping his shield. He pulled out his sword and used his hand to light it on fire. The enemy, becoming more and more interested in this Ranger power by the minute, decided to punch rather than slash. The two went at it, with the red ranger being able to cut him a few times.
Rolling on the floor, Kent held his side. Pain grew, and unfortunately for him, this wasn't the end. Before he could stand properly, two blades and a blast came his way. Kent couldn't operate his shield in time, therefore leaving him injured. The yellow, pink, and silver ranger landed beside their leader. The final part came from Jake and Noah, who gracefully blasted the enemy continuously.
Kent groaned from the pain and tried to fight back, but both boys teleported away too fast. They stood by their teammates, who were standing and waiting for Kent to attack again. He gradually took a few seconds to get back up. His breathing was heavy, with his hands holding the same side it did beforehand. Looking down, Kent saw something that he only enjoyed seeing from people who were freshly killed.

Blood.

"Damn." Kent mumbled to himself.

He shook it off, he had to. Coming into his stance, the fight was about to continue regardless of his injury. The heroes, who thought Kent was down for the count for now, geared uo for whatever he secretly had up his sleeve. However, there was a pause. A big one. Everybody stopped when when the sound of twin helicopters and rolling tires reach their ears. They knew was it was, and it alarmed them all.

"Oh crap..." Noah reacted.

Turning back, black vans started pulling into their street, some of which came fast and parked already. One helicopter landed 40 feet away. Kent, not allowing this for himself, quickly disappeared from the area.

"Guys, we used a lot of power, we're about to de-morph." Gia warned, seeing more and more vans show up.

Some photos were taken as the team made their next move. Instantly, they all took out their morphers to go escape the press. Luckily, it was done in time as people hopped out of vans only to find the Rangers gone. Wondering how they could do that, the paparazzi had to accept the few pictures they received and drive off.
The teens returned to the Command Center to regroup. They all took a deep breath, de-morphing out of their suits. Looking down at themselves, they were beat up bad. Bruises, cuts, stab wounds, it was terrible. Tensou rolled out in front of them, concerned and paranoid as usual.

"Oh, are you guys alright?! That was a nasty fight out there." He spoke, knowing what had went on.

"Welp we're not dead so, I'd take that as a win." Jake replied, massaging his hurting shoulder.

The red ranger took out his phone to contact their new companion. What he saw was missed calls from her. Hoping she was alright, Troy quickly called her and waited for her to respond.

"Where is he? Where are you guys?" Savannah asked once he got ahold of her.

"At the base, look Jake's place isn't safe anymore-"

"You got that right, my dad is gonna kill me." Jake cut in with an upset tone while is girlfriend helped him over to one of the many beds. Tensou set out for the team. Troy continued, "are you okay?"

"Yeah, I tortured some guy for info and what not. I saw the reporters at his house. You're gonna need to find another spot to stay at that's not on the same street," Vanni agreed with the red ranger, who wanted to question her about the first statement that came out of her mouth, but chose to wait, "I got a nice crib with plenty of rooms, you guys pack your stuff tonight."

Troy was a little shocked at her request, "you want us to stay with you?"

"Did I stutter? My body ia the only things that's off limits." Savannah informed him.

Troy, shaking his head and smiling at her assumption, responded with, "I'm not like that, thanks. We'll see you in five."

He hung up, seeing that most of the Rangers were lying down on the beds. It was only Gia and Troy who remained standing.

"Hey, you guys should rest for a while. You're not gonna heal if you're just standing there." Emma told them.

The two glanced at one another as Noah went onto agree with her, "yeah you guys, take a breather. We all took a hard beating."

"Says the guy who got no sleep for three days straight working on a project that was due in two weeks and still got perfect attendance. Freaking beast right here man." Jake backed up his bud.

Noah smiled and chuckled a bit while Orion spoke up to say, "we'll figure out how to fix this mess but until we do, we need to heal ourselves."

Both shrugged simultaneously and stated confidently, "I'm fine."

The others glanced at one another, not liking how in a way, both were stubborn. In that same moment, the redhead of the group rushed into the base. She saw that everybody was alive and in one piece, sending a wave of relief through her body.

"Are you guys okay?" Savannah asked as Tensou brought out the medical kit to patch up the team.

"Yeah, I'm houseless and my dad will want a bunch of answers that I can't give and I I'll be shunned by my parents forever. How's your day going?" Jake quizzed sarcastically.

"It's only a window dramatic drew," Vanni shot back, making the red ranger slyly smile, "and it's homeless."

"You're not homeless Jake, we'll find a way to explain this to your dad." Emma tried to cheer him up.

"How?" Jake inquired.

"Intense wrestling?" Orion suggested shrugging a bit.

The green ranger peered at him weirdly before taking the time to consider it.

"You honestly think he'll buy that?" Noah questioned.

"Well I could say two of my cousins watched too much MMA one night and tried to reenact it..." Jake fondly remembered, making his best friend roll his eyes. He saw this and gave him a look before saying, "hey you're the one who broke it."

"It was either that or damage the house even more, I'm lucky I didn't break my black flying out there." Noah counteracted.

"You can fly?" Vanni asked with an eyebrow going up.

"No, I tackled Kent through the window and we landed in the street." Noah explained.

Savannah crossed her arms and glanced at each of the Rangers, "yeah so, what exactly happened when I was gone?"

"Well, Kent snuck into Jake's house and he attacked. Thanks to Noah, we got him out and on the road," Gia told her, "Kent tried to cook us alive with his fire power but, luckily these two blocked it off with some of their own. That helped us get the drop on him before the paparazzi showed up."

Vanni nodded and responded with, "how did you guys block him off? You have fire powers too?"

"Just us apparently," Emma replied as Tensou bandaged her arm, "I didn't even know we could do that. Troy?"

The red ranger shoved his hands in his pockets and shrugged, "me neither, it just...happened."

"Since you carry the legacy, perhaps there must be other abilities hidden within you that you have to discover." Gosei's voice boomed.

Dropping her arms, Vanni placed her hands on her hips, "well I can't decide how you guys did because I wasn't there. But one thing's for sure, you need work."

"Work?" Jake asked, confused.

"You heard me, work. I assume you guys train," Vanni stated, though is sounded more like a question. It was directed towards Troy, who nodded, but she was looking at everyone around her, "welp, let's see what you know after you're done packing."

Turning around, the young redhead left the base, with the group watching her go.
