Chapter 3
Entering the area, the teenage redhead found herself walking around near the woods. She checked for any signs, clues, or last trails of the alien assassin. The urge to wipe him out was fueling inside of her. To think after everything that had occurred prior to her meeting those teens, why wouldn't she want to end his life? The lives he's messed with, the minds he's corrupted for his own, not to mention the endless body count. He was aggravating and a monster, but you couldn't help but admit he was an enticing bad guy.
It seemed very calm at the moment. Savannah took that as a good thing and turned around to keep moving. As she was leaving, a buzz came from her pants. Her hand dived into the pocket to retrieve her device. Seeing the caller ID, Vanni clicked the answer button and answered the call, placing her phone to her ear as she kept her focus alive.
"Mom what's up? I'm kind of in the middle of something." Savannah said.
"Yeah well whatever it is, it better be more important than the conference." Carla replied, in which Vanni's eyes went wide.
She silently smacked herself, "crap," she sighed, "look mom, I'm patrolling, that attack last night was a sign. I can tell he wanted to draw me out."
"You're going by yourself?" Carla asked.
"I've done it before mom, you're not new to this," Savannah reminded her while she searched in between some trees before apologizing, "I'm sorry, I was ready to go and then my new buds I'll say got caught up in something."
"Yeah, the Rangers aren't dying out anytime soon. Have you forgotten-"
"Stop." Savannah urged, already knowing what she's about to say.
Her mother sighed, "well, long as you're okay, I understand. Let me know when you're done, we need to talk."
Savannah raised an eyebrow, "we need to talk or Elaine needs to talk?"
Carla hesitated to answer that. She chose her words carefully, "it's about your new friends," Savannah growled, "you need to speak with her, she won't let you keep living here if you don't."
"I don't care, she can't keep making me do things. I'm my own person, when will she realize that?" Savannah argued. She kept her volume at a whisper despite her anger, "it's been four years, you'd think she'd get the message."
"I've tried but, good luck talking her out of it." Carla responded. Her husband let out a 'psst!', signaling her to come over and join him with the public. She nodded and turned back around, "I have to go. Make sure you talk to her."
"I will...when I'm twenty five and away from her." Savannah snarked.
"Savannah-"
"No, she's allowed to talk to me over the phone, not in person. Not a chance, hopefully she finds a man and takes Elliana with her to control. It would give me a chance to breathe." Vanni ended her phone call by hanging up after that statement.
Annoyed, Carla huffed at the defiant behavior of her daughter. She sucked it up for the moment however as she walked over to her partner and helped him out. The redhead put her cell away and progressed in her duties. No contact with Elaine gave her less stress. And added stress is something that was unwelcomed right now.
After a few minutes went by, the new girl felt her senses kick in. She paused, not making any sudden noise. The wind blew softly, which helped her in spotting any targets. Slowly, she pulled out her main weapon. Once her hand fully gripped the handle, Savannah spun around and sliced behind her, to which you would think is just air. However, it ended up being the incognito effect. The perpetrator fell in the grass and groaned. He glared at the teenage girl.
"Little ginger headed singe." The man sneered angrily.
"Why are you here?" Vanni asked, but did not hear an answer, "tell me, or I rip out your lungs and feed it to the wolves."
The man ran to challenge her, apparently not scared by her threat. He aimed for her face, which was dodged easily. Savannah used her sword to boost her body up and perform a two-footed kick. It hit the man's ribs and made him stumble. Vanni landed and almost got attacked by a left hook. She ducked and picked up her weapon to hurt the soldier's side. He returned to the ground, but managed to kick Savannah's feet and take her with him.
He quickly climbed above her, pinning down her body. His grasp was strong and difficult to get out of. Unfortunately, not being related to the Man Of Steel had its consequences since heat vision would be useful in this situation. While glaring at one another, the red head used her legs to wrap around his waist and roll him over. It was then she was able to retrieve her sword using her levitating abilities and stab the soldier in the chest. He yelped in pain as Vanni dug deeper and deeper.
"Now, tell me..." she pressed as she sunk it in, "What you're doing here..." the man grunted, starting to feel lightheaded, "Or this'll be your last day breathing."
She stopped, waiting for a response, and soon finally got one, "okay...I got it okay," he struggled speaking with the sword plunged into his chest, "I was ordered..by Kent to spy on you and those Rangers..to see what you're planning..he's got stuff in the works..big things-"
"Such as?" Savannah inquired for details, with her eyebrow going up.
"Such as powers..powers he's never used..he wants to work with it and then take out the galaxy..starting with your home world..and now that Earth has heroes..he wants them gone too.." The soldier revealed to her.
Savannah took a few seconds to think. This just became bigger than war between two planets. Looking down at the man, she let out a short breath, "Thanks for cooperating," she then gripped her sword's handle with both hands and ended up turning it upwards to drag all the way up the soldier's body. It was a nasty sight that guaranteed his death, "but I couldn't just walk away and leave you to gossip."
Lifting up her sword, the blood dripped and slid down the sides of it. Vanni blinked, saying to herself, "hmph, that's gonna be hard to explain to everybody."
Exiting the premises, the blue eyed teen kept her patrol going.
***********
The gang made it back to Jake's house. With his father still out of the house and his sister at a sleepover, they had the place to themselves again for a while. The only Ranger couple on the team was sitting on the couch while the pink ranger had went to the bathroom. Noah contacted Tensou and Gosei to chat with them on what else they should do. And as for the leader of the team, he was going to the kitchen to grab a water bottle. He was joined by another teammate, one who needed to talk with him.
"It's still there," Orion told Troy, who opened the fridge, "I really think she's not from here."
"It would explain her powers," Troy answered back after getting his bottle. He closed the fridge, "but how come she isn't living on another planet or something?"
"I came here to help you guys out, maybe she's doing the same." Orion suggested.
"Maybe, that's probably why she knows Kent so well too," Troy replied before asking, "how come you don't know him?"
"His planet is far off from mine, I never heard of his people until now. Wherever Savannah's home is must be closer to where he's at." Orion explained. Troy drank some water and sealed the bottle with the cap while at the same time following his friend to the living room, "that's also why I never met Savannah either. Troy there's more than Vanni is telling here, we need answers from her."
"Woah woah okay, dude, we already tried that," Troy responded with, "we can't keep playing twenty questions with her. She won't trust us and think we'll use it against her or something. Plus..it's creepy."
Orion slightly nodded, not completely shoving it aside, "But how else are we going to get her to talk?"
"I got it," Jake spoke up from the couch. The boys and Gia turned to listen to him, "we break into her house and steal all of the money she has and we won't give it back until she tells us what we wanna know."
Mixed reactions went around the room. One weird, one 'are you serious?', and the last just staring at him.
"Break into her house and steal her money?" Troy catechized, making sure he heard correctly.
"You're broke aren't you?" Gia quizzed right after.
The green ranger shrugged, "easy cash."
"Look we're not breaking into her house," Orion threw that out of the window, "let's ask if she found anything on her patrol when she gets back and ease our way into it. We won't question her to death this time."
"Yeah, we as in all of you except me." Troy stated proudly as he sat on one of the couches.
Coming out of the bathroom, the BMX rider made her way into the living room.
"Hey, has Vanni said anything?" Emma wondered.
"Em, it's been fifteen minutes, I doubt anything happened." Gia retorted.
Jake turned his head with a sexy smirk tugging at his lips, flirtatiously responding, "I can make something happen."
Gia, surprised by his boldness, raised an eyebrow at first. It was soon replaced with a smile, "oh yeah? Show me."
The two shared a long, gleeful kiss. The others had gotten used to this overtime with them being together and all but, it was fun to tease mentally. Although, they did not fail to give each other a glance and smirk a little.
"Alright alright enough, save it for the wedding." Orion playfully commented.
He then plopped on the free couch on the other side of the room. The couple stopped kissing as the blue ranger came jogging down the stairs.
"Well let's hope she's okay," Troy showed concern, "Kent is dangerous."
"Yeah and we thought the Armada were bad." Noah agreed.
"Nah, they're just weird to me man." Jake disagreed.
"Well thank god they're gone, we don't need two sets of bad guys on our tails. Well, Savannah's right now." Emma said.
She left the others, with the red ranger joining her. His stomach craved for an apple, so he returned to thw fridge to grab one. Emma did the same, except reaching for a bowl of grapes. Troy shut the door once they were both done. He was about to take a bite of his fruit, but paused. He looked from the corner of his eye, suspicious. Emma set down the bowl and witnessed her friend standing still.
"Are you o-"
She stopped when she felt what he was feeling. The two shared a stare and began to act as if nothing was wrong. The pink ranger left the kitchen with the bowl of grapes, giving a nod to her leader. He responded with one of his own. After seemingly being alone for some time, the red ranger whistled faintly. Before he could walk back over to the fridge, he quickly spun around and performed a drop kick. It revealed to be that someone had been in the house all along. Making contact with the floor was not pleasant, and it only spiked the anger of the intruder.
"Wow, you got me, I guess you owe me that after your poor performance last night," Kent attempted to get to the dragon leader. He got up from the floor and inched closer to him. The two became face to face, "so Troy, you prove to be an inadequate as a fighter and a Ranger, nevermind being the leader of said team. Would hate to possibly devastating this world on your shoulders and for Gosei to realize that made a bad choice."
Kent's nose suddenly cracked from the punch he received, causing him to stumble back. He grabbed it as the others, fully morphed, came into the area. Looking back up, the alien menace let go of his nose and saw the group of heroes team up. He smiled.
"Sorry, ticking you off entertains me," Kent admitted. He drew out his sword as Troy grabbed his morpher, "alright, let's see what you're made of."
The Rangers attacked as the leader quickly morphed. Swords went flying, punches and kicks were planted, and bruises were inflamed, with new ones being created. The commotion was loud, the team trying to find an edge over the villain. Kent made his move upstairs. The Rangers followed closely behind. Kent busted through Jake's father's bedroom door and ended up being tackled onto the floor before he could do any damage. Emma tried to pin him, but he teleported out of her hands and used his abilities to electrocute the team. They all fell to the ground, with him ready to make an escape.
The teens, slowly, returned to their feet and went after him. Noah, being the closest, pushed Kent backwards. This sent both of them out of the window and shattering the glass. The others, in shock, quickly rushed to teleport themselves using their morphers to get outside. The enemy's back crashed and slid into the concrete road. His arms flipped the blue ranger over on his back. Groaning in pain and frustration at the contact, Kent heard the others rush to their teammate.
"You alright?" Jake asked his pal.
Noah nodded as the team surrounded the alien. He looked up at all of them, breathing with a smile quickly appearing on his face. He laid there for a second to say, "oh this is gonna be fun."
He slowly returned to his feet.
"Legendary Ranger Mode, Samurai!" They all shouted, there by morphing into their Ranger choice.
Kent let out a, "hmm", before gearing himself up. He had never done this in front of them, but now seemed like a good time for it. Suddenly, pieces of silver, sharp steel clinged to his body. The heroes ducked, avoiding getting hit by the parts. It rushed to form his suit of armor. He was being protected from head to toe, limb from limb. The group stood back up to see the final product. Kent cheesed, though you could not see it. He stood still, confident and intimidating.
'Shit.' Was what the team collectively thought.
