The following list is in no particular order.
1. Things We Lost by @madisueb
Score: 34/60
Review: It didn't start off with a good bang, had a lot of grammar issues. Interesting plot, just wished that the author would proofread more because the grammar is not good.
2. Bullet by @KlaraSofe
Score: 49/60
Review: Good plot, cool descriptions. Grammar was good with a few bad sentences that don't make sense. Interesting and unique plot.
3. The Kingdoms of Shinsung - Book One - Sun and Shadow by @Elflover21
Score 55/60
Review: Its a really great book! The plot is so interesting and the grammar is so great! The descriptions are really thought out well, it's really good! The cover of the book could be much better, and the description is a bit too long and too extra.
4. The Third Alignment by @MichaelHoliday
SCORE: 50/55
Flawless Grammar, beautiful descriptions and some early intrigue. Very well written story. The characterization in particular stands out. The characters felt like real people and I love all the little details and movements you give them. If I had to nit pick, it'd be the description. It's solid and still really good but I feel like it would be stronger without the second and fourth paragraph. (Or use the second paragraph in place of the last paragraph?) Less is more. Packs more punch.
This was, for the most part, a really close race. Each of these stories was well thought out and entertaining, but in the end I had to give first place to The Third Alignment. The quality of writing and depth of editing is pro-level. Go forth and publish, man!
5. The Poisoned Tree by @CeliaPotter
SCORE: 44/55
I thought this story was I interesting and the character of Prometheus in particular intrigued and entertained. I found the introduction to Abby's companions a bit forced though. Don't feel rushed to describe them all at once. Maybe introduce them all a briefly and then use the following chapters to flesh them out a bit. Great start to what promises to be a compelling adventure story (and I'd be lying if I told you I wasn't already shipping Prometheus and Abby!)
6. Stormbringer: History of Brothers by @RainingStorms
SCORE: 39/55
I really liked this story for its humor and light hearted vibe, but I had a hard time getting behind the characters. I think, for me, it just didn't feel like they were really 5 and 8 (or 4 and 7) at the beginning and some of the antics seemed a bit over the top. (Actually, it struck me as an anime, and if that's the aim, then it's perfect!)
7. Spandex is Mandatory by @LightenTheShadows
SCORE: 47/55
Full disclosure, this book was already in my reading list. I stumbled across it a few months ago and loved it. It's a quirky, light story filled with humor and a Jessica Jones type main character (pre trauma and alcoholism).
8. Slumber by @Bluescape
SCORE: 45/55
Grammar and story flow are on point. Excellent prologue. Really catches your attention. As for the characters, I really like Moser and Bonnie. I love that you gave them their own way of speaking and I think Saskia path to discovery is going to be an interesting one.
I do feel like the whole 'wake up, forgot who I am' trope has been done quite a bit, but you still managed to own this and make it your own. Not crazy about the title either. I feel like it's a bit basic for such a great story. (Although...to be fair...my own titles tend to get away from me a bit, so maybe simplicity is key.)
9. I am not a damsel by @typewriter6001
SCORE: 49/55
This was a really great story. I love Cameron. I love that it's a guy who is the damsel in distress and that the hero is a girl. Structurally, this story is well set up. Strong opening, it drops you right in the middle of the action, but at the same time, really sets up Cameron's almost weary resignation to what has become his every day situation. The pace never drags as the author takes you from plot point to plot point, and conflict is nicely set up at each turn. Well done.
10. Rise by @smilefordirectioner
Title: 4/5
Plot: 7/10
Characterization: 6/10
Cover: 3/5
Description: 2/5
Grammar: 6/10
Creativity: 5/10
Total: 33/55
Review: There is an element of intrigue in the storyline. However, it's hard to engage in the story due to a lack of description. Also, there's quite a bit of punctuation mistakes found in the story. The pace is steady, and I quite enjoyed the interaction between Delilah, Levi and Edmund.
11. Finding Lily by @ashely96mc
Title: 3/5
Plot: 7/10
Characterization: 8/10
Cover: 3/5
Description: 4/5
Grammar: 6/10
Creativity: 7/10
Total: 38/55
Review: This story starts off with a bang with a gripping scene. There's an element of intrigue and suspense with the two separate sub-plots. It's interesting to read about Alex's life while getting to know Lily and Samara at the same time. It foreshadows how the lives of all three girls are about to change later in the story.
12. Crossing the Silver Thorns by @Quillworks
Title: 5/5
Plot: 8/10
Characterization: 8/10
Cover: 4/5
Description: 3/5
Grammar: 8/10
Creativity: 9/10
Total: 45/55
Review: It's not often that a story is told through the POV of animals. The plot is quite unique in itself, as it reflects an important yet rarely discussed topic. The dynamic between the different animals is just fascinating, especially their views towards humans and their surroundings. The one critique I have is to give more description on the setting as well as the characters.
13. A World on Fire by @m154nthr0p15t
Title: 4/5
Plot: 6/10
Characterization: 8/10
Cover: 2/5
Description: 2/5
Grammar: 8/10
Creativity: 7/10
Total: 37/55
Review: There's an element of intrigue of this particular dystopian world, but more descriptions on the setting would be nice. The overuse of I's drags the story pace at times, so be sure to watch out for that. The interaction between Jacob, Elissa and Cameron is well-written. There is a sense of comradery between the three as they learn to survive and rely on one another.
14. Kings and Thieves by @oceanslostinstars
Title: 3/5
Plot: 9/10
Characterization: 8/10
Cover: 3/5
Description: 4/5
Grammar: 8/10
Creativity: 7/10
Total: 42/55
Review: The descriptions are vivid and detailed. I love how every character has his/her colorful personality. It's interesting to see how the two different classes interact and clash with one another. There is some repetition of certain words, so a broader vocabulary range would definitely make this book even better.
