Elaina's POV

"You're going to believe a landbeing over one of your own?!" Rogan shouted. I could see the uncertainty on everyone's faces so I turned towards Rogan and looked him in the eye.

"Tell the truth," I said and his eye colour changed for a split second.

"I killed the queen. She was in the shell field and I went their to ask her to lift the law so that Sirens could hunt humans once more. But she refused and said that it was time to bury the hatchet with humans, whatever that meant, and that she choose a human to be a successor. All because of some stupid legend. The fishing hook was there and I got so angered that a stabbed her with it," he said and there was entire uproar.

Everyone was angered, including the sirens. Everyone loved the queen.

"Because of the crimes you have committed, the murder of the previous queen, my mother and the attempted murder of the new queen, you are hereby sentenced to death. Take him away," Llyr ordered the guards.

I turned around to face Llyr, he said I was the future queen, and that caused butterflies in my stomach. I heard Rogan screaming behind me as I looked at Llyr. Llyr smiled at me but then he got a worried look on his face as he rush towards me, I didn't understand what was going on until I heard a thump behind me.

When I turned around I saw Rogan's lifeless body on the floor and Llyr's father standing over him with a bloody knife.

"He broke free from his guards and was about to kill you," Llyr's father said and my eyes landed on the knife laying near Rogan's body. I felt a hand snake around my waist and knew immediately that it was Llyr, I looked up at him before I gave him a small smile and placed my head on his shoulder.

"I would like to apologize," Llyr's father said,"to all of you. I thought my wife was killed by humans and that caused hate inside of me. But now I see, we were never made to live apart. And we would be honoured to have Elaina as our queen."

Llyr nodded to his father before he turned us around to face the crowd.

"My people, I give you your Queen. Queen Elaina," Llyr said and the crowd erupted in to cheers and claps. I smiled at everyone as I looked over every single face. This was my people now to.

The head guard of the sirens approached us and I felt Llyr's grip on me tighten.

"My king, my queen, I want to apologize for everything that happened. We allowed Rogan to poison our minds with lies and we hope that the alliance between Siren and Mer can continue," he said. A beautiful siren stood behind him and she resembled Rogan.

Llyr looked towards her,"Is this what you want, Olga?"

"Yes, my king," she said.

"Then Siren and Mer will live in peace once more," he said and the crowd went wild once more.

The coronation continued like nothing had happened and it felt like a dream come true to be here under the sea.

"So you're fine with staying here with me?" Llyr asked when we were alone a few metres away from everyone.

"I'm great. I've always wanted to be in the ocean and now I know why," I said as I smiled at him.

"I just need to inform my family-my family!" I suddenly realised that I just disappeared and my family was probably devastated.

"We need to go to them now," I said and Llyr nodded. He quickly told his father that we were leaving for a while and then we were off.

I wasn't used to my tail and I was grateful Llyr was with me. He helped me along the way. The view under the sea was magnificent, there was an array of colours and a variety of different sea creatures swimming about. We were still swimming when Llyr's three dolphins approached us.

They swam with us the rest of the way until we arrived at the dock.

My heart broke when I saw Rhixton, who looked beyond devastated, sitting on the dock. Llyr and I swam closer and the movement caught Rhixton's attention.

"Elaina! Llyr!" He shouted excitedly. It was just a while after sunrise, so how long was this poor man sitting here?

"Elaina?!" I heard another voice and then I saw my entire family running to the dock. Their excited smiles quickly fell when their eyes landed on Llyr.

"I think we have a lot of explaining to do," I said.

"Yes you do, but let's get you out of the water first," My mother said.

"You might want to get her something to cover herself with," Llyr said and I showed them my tail. They all gasped when they saw my golden tail.

"You...you're...a ...a....mer...mermaid!" Eldrich said and he looked shocked beyond words.

"I told you they existed," I said with a smile.

"So you did," Ethan said as he laughed at our brother's shocked appearance.

"Let's get you out of the water before we continue this discussion," my father said also trying to hide a smile.

Llyr lifted me the dock and I saw the seething look my brothers gave him, I should've told them about Llyr while I had the chance because now they probably thought he was the bad guy who was responsible for my disappearance.

Rhixton quickly rushed back to the castle to get towels for me and Llyr.

"Everyone, this is Llyr. Llyr, this is my parents, Freya and Ronin and my brothers, Ethan and Eldrich," I introduced them.

My mother and father gave him warm smiles, Ethan tried to give a smile but Eldrich had a scowl etched on his face.

Rhixton returned while we were still waiting there awkwardly. He handed Llyr a towel first who quickly sat down next to me on the dock before drying himself. Once he was dry his tail changed into two legs and he had a pair of silver tights on, the same colour as his tail.

"Am I going to be fully clothed to?" I asked him.

"I don't know, that's why I'm going to hold up the other towel behind you, to give you some privacy," he said as he handed me my towel before moving behind me and holding the towel up, separating me from everyone, and he looked away while holding the towel up.

I quickly dried myself just like Llyr and I felt a tingling feeling before my tail seperated into legs. After the transformation I was clothed in a beautiful golden dress that reached my knees.

"I'm clothed," I told Llyr and he removed the towel before he helped me to my feet.

"Wow," my entire family said as they took in my appearance.

"You look beautiful," Llyr said as he placed a kiss on my head, causing my brothers to growl.

"Ethan! Eldrich!" I reprimanded.

"Sorry," they both mumbled and my mother invited us to the parlour where we could discuss everything that happened.

Once we were all seated in the parlour Llyr and I began our story, we told them about the time when we first met and how we spent more and more time with each other.

"See my mother was saved by a human, and that is how she choose Elaina as her successor, making Elaina the next sea enchantress," Llyr said to finish off the story.

"I think it's my turn to tell you all a story," my father said and we all focused out attention on him.

"When I was a young lad, I would go on fishing trips with the greatest fishermen. One day, a mermaid was found in the nets. I was the only one who saw her and I knew what would happen if the captain discovered her. I couldn't bare her becoming a trophy on a wall so I set her free and she promised me that she would save my life to. And she did," my father stopped before he looked at me.

"She saved your life Elaina, and thus she saved mine. You were born to weak and if it wasn't for her choosing you as her successor I don't think you would've been here today," my father said as he looked at my mother. She looked shocked.

"She saved my little girl's life," my mother breathed out.

"Yes. And that is why I told you all those mermaid stories, because they really do exist," he said and I smiled as I thought back to all the stories my father told us as young kids.

"What happens now?" Eldrich asked after a while of silence.

"I go back with Llyr," I said.

"That is where you belong," Eldrich said and my whole family agreed. They looked saddened at the thought of me leaving but they all knew it was how it was supposed to be.

"Don't worry, I won't keep her away forever. How about we visit you here every Sunday? Then we can spend the entire day together?" Llyr suggested and everyone was thrilled with the idea. I knew I was going to miss my family very much, but I was also excited for the new adventures I was going to have under the sea with Llyr.

Hidden by the foam of the sea is an entire a world that I was privileged to discover.
