-It was really hard to write this in the last few days. Colleges have opened and there's minimum time, but I've still managed to just complete it. Will be uploading in 4-5 days now.

Alex led Violet back downstairs, not leaving her hand all the way. He made her feel like a kid who's being given all the love in this world. When she had first saw him at school, she had no idea that Alex was so loving, caring and honest. From a distance, he looked like a selfish brat, but he was equally soft in reality and understanding in nature. She thought, as they descended the grand stairs, that people never understood Alex. They'll like him even more once they realize what he truly is.

But then a selfish thought hit her as they rounded upon the glass fountain. She didn't want everybody to like him more. He was her bestfriend, and she loved special treatment from him. She didn't want that to change. She didn't want to lose him now that she had fallen in love.

They exited out into the open. More people had now gathered in the lawn and soft music was playing. The lights had been dimmed and here and there Alex found people using them to their advantage.

Alex and Violet reached the wooden dance floor in front of the stage which was still empty but for the instruments that were placed on it.

"So, care for another dance?" Alex asked with a smug grin.

"I don't know..." She had decided to tease him a little before giving him what he wanted.

Alex put an arm around her waist and pulled her body against his in one swift tug.

"So... You were saying?" Violet's mouth fell open but Alex's voice still seemed to be under-control.

Violet smiled and looked down. He moved his lips closer to her ears and whispered in a seductive tone.

"I'll take that as a yes!"

So they began moving together, mantaining their eye-contact all the way through. The music picked up and so did Alex. He pushed Violet away, holding her right hand with his left, and then turned her inwards so her back hit against his chest while his arms were wrapped around her waist. Violet's heartbeat rose to an insane rate as Alex breathed close to her neck sending zingy feelings down her spine.

It was when an extremely attractive yet irritating girl in a tight-fitted tea-pink dress emerged from the back, patting Alex rather hardly on the shoulder, when Alex hastily left Violet to turn around. He hadn't quite expected her to be here.

"W-what are you doing here, Elizabeth?" Astonishment quite clear in his voice.

"Oh Alex dear!" She put her hands on his shoulder and began to caress. "I thought you might want to have a dance." She was now pulling him closer when the saviour arrived.

Edward came from behind and pulled Elizabeth into a dance with himself. It was a rather peculiar sight- a short chubby guy dancing with a tall and attractive girl, who by no means, wished to join him. Elizabeth tried to pull away but Edward was now showing sick moves. His backside was shaking like mad and he was twisting Elizabeth with utmost vigour.

It was very hard for Violet and Alex to keep themselves from laughing and for others to refrain from staring, but clearly neither fo them were completely successful in the task. Elizabeth pulled away and muttered "jerk". How could Alex ever repay this guy, seriously.

But Edward wasn't stopping, he was still moving madly as now he had made his way towards Alex and Violet.

"Come'o Alex. Show me yur moves." Edward challenged him. His hands were now balled into fists which were tracing cicles in the air. While both of them looked on at the scene with awkward silence, Edward took off his jacket and began wildly swinging his arms while holding it above his head.

It didn't take long before a butler came, which Alex didn't recongnize very well, and stopped the animalistic attitude.

"Sir, you've got to stop. The other guests are getting disturbed."

"Ah well, I guess you can't 'ave fun for long."

Alex wondered if he had been drinking stuff that he isn't supposed to. But he wandered away towards the tables, possibly to pick up women elder than his age.

"Okay, that was unexpected." Alex said while they exited the dance floor.

"Yeah... didn't know she had overheard that much while we were talking at school." Despite the latest proceedings, she was smiling. It seemed to Alex that she was enjoying the party. How much of these parties does she attend anyway?

"You know, I don't really remember mentioning my address." Alex said after a moments' silence.

"Just forget it. She's gone now."

"No she isn't. There!" Alex was pointing to a far off place in the ground which was dim and dark. Hunched up in a gloomy seat was Elizabeth. But that wasn't all, Edward, who both of them had thought had gone picking up girls, was now advancing towards her with a glass of apple juice. Elizabeth was completely unaware of the fate that awaited her when Edward accidentally  (not really) splashed apple juice all down her front. She was shrieking hysterically now and guests were staring all round. How much could she take, seriously. She stood up and stormed away towards the metal gate.

"That's sick." Alex muttered under his breath. Even he was amazed of what Edward did.

"Yeah. That'll keep her from putting her nose where it doesn't belong."

Alex stared at her. Was she actually jealous that Elizabeth was invading on their personal time? Knowing that Alex was staring, Violet still did not meet his eye.

The night moved on as dim music and lights accompanied them. They strolled around the lawn. Dinner had also been served outside. Many months had passed since they met, but Alex was still learning more about Violet. He hadn't known until now that Violet could not eat when someone looked straight at her.

"Stop staring idiot!" She had said, half exasperated and half amused. It wasn't that bad to be with a person who would only want to see you out of the hundreds of people around. Something about his soft gaze made him so homely. The way a smile always spread across his lips when he looked at her- it made her feel special to the core.

Alex stared at his watch at 11:30 pm and then looked around.

"What are you looking for?"

"Performance." He replied.

"Who's performance?"

"Mariah Carey's. Remember? The trip? Our songs? So I just thought it'd be better to call her in for the midnight performance."

"ARE YOU CRAZY? LIKE THE REAL MARIAH CAREY. OH MY GOD!"

Violet was almost screaming with joy. Her face had flushed red and her eyes were glittering with excitement. Had he called her because he enjoyed her songs or because she did? Either way, it was Mariah's performance. Wow!

The crowd went bizarre when she stepped up on the stage accompanied by other musicians who took their place on the stage.

"Hello everyone! How's the night going?" She said in a very giggly voice. There were cheers of approval all around. Clearly, Alex and Violet weren't the only ones to have enjoyed the night.

And then she sang. Her voice was as beautiful as a nightingale. Violet's hand automatically reached for Alex's arm and she rested her head on his shoulder for the half an hour to come. Both of them were smiling unconsciously. The moment held such calm and belonging, they felt as if they could spend years and years in the same posture.

The clock struck 12 and with cheers from the crowd, fireworks rose high in the sky and illuminated it with eye-catching colors. The sky split up with low popping sounds as brilliant colors were painted all around. Alex and Violet kept marveling until the last of them vanished. Violet's head was still resting on Alex's shoulder while both their foreheads touched. It was a moment that they could not forget for their whole lives.

"You know I love you Alex." Violet said in a child-like voice.

"Your eyes give away a lot more than you think they do." Even his witty replies seemed like a comment. Or maybe they were?

"You should talk to your dad about what he's trying to hide from you. I mean, you'll never know unless you ask."

"Yeah... I think I will. Tomorrow maybe."

She snugged more into his shoulder and was unaware of Arthur's eyes following them. He had decided to talk to Alex before he got too attached with that girl.
