Chapter 42 - Escaping Woodbury
[Daryl's POV]
We had managed to slip inside the walls. Getting them out of there though, was easier said than done.
"This where you were held?" Rick asked as we entered a room. "
"More like questioned." Michonne retorted.
I hurried towards the window and peeked out the curtain. There was a some people out. Rick looked out the window too and seemed to think the same thing.
"Thought you said there was a curfew." I said to her skeptically.
"It's usually packed during the day, those are stragglers." she answered back.
"We're like sitting ducks in here. We gotta move." Rick ordered. I gave a slight nod in agreement. The only thing on my mind was getting Rebecca back. It seems like every time I get her back someone or something takes 'er away from me.
"They could be in his parlor." Michonne suggested.
"Yeah? And what if they ain't?" I said to her, completely fed up with this waiting.
"Then we'll check somewhere else." she snapped back.
"You said you could help us." Rick growled.
"I'm doing what I can."
There was a sudden knock on the door and Rick gave us a look and we hid behind the wall. The door opened then there was footsteps and and a guy walked in. "Who's there?" he asked.
Rick waited till he came near the wall and slammed him up against the opposite. "Shut up!" Rick growled before the guy could say a word. "Hands behind your back. Zip tie him." Rick ordered. I followed his orders silently and stood back, pointing my crossbow at his head. "Where are our people?!" he growled at the man.
"I-I don't know." answered the man frantically.
"You're holding some of our people - Where the hell are they?!"
"I-I don't know." he said, a little calmer.
"Open your mouth." Rick ordered. The man did as he was told and Rick shoved a sock that was laying around in his mouth. He groaned in protest and I hit him in the back of the head with my crossbow and he fell straight to the ground. Rick dragged him off as I let out a frustrated growl.
[Rebecca's POV]
When I regained consciousness my head hurt and my leg burned. I groaned as I opened my eyes. "Oh thank god!" Glenn exclaimed.
"How long was I out?" I asked as I rubbed my head and forced myself to stand up, though my leg screamed in protest.
"Almost an hour. I thought you were... That you were gonna die."
"Nah." I laughed. "You can't get rid of me that easily." I joked.
He smiled then handed me something. At first I thought it was a knife, but on closer examination it was a bone. "Gross." I simply said as I flipped it over in my hand.
"You use this when they come in." he instructed. I nodded in return. We waited low till we heard the footsteps. He nodded to me and I nodded to him.
When the door open Glenn slammed Merle back, while I took out the one with the machine gun. I slammed him into the wall and jammed the bone into his neck. He fell to the ground, sending a few bullets flying from his gun. I turned around as Merle managed to slam Glenn into the ground and he held a knife to his neck. "Let Glenn go!" I growled at him. He glared at me before cracking a smile and releasing his hold on Glenn. "Okay." he said. Just then guns cocked behind me and the mexican guy was aiming at me. Merle took this opportunity to seize the gun from my hands. "Give me the gun!" he yelled as he took it.
"Get up!" he yelled at Glenn. They forced him up on his knees and grabbed me and forced me down on mine. Pain shot through my leg and I could tell the wound was bleeding bad again.
"Its nice I could see you again. I'm glad we could catch up." Merle mused as he walked behind us. I glared at him, not showing any sign of fear. I looked to Glenn and he kept the same face. "I'm sorry." I mouthed to him. He shook his head. "It's okay." he mouthed back. A bag was forced over my head. I was forced to my feet and pushed out the door. I heard a clatter then what sounded like bombs going off and the guys around me yelled. Then I felt someone seize my hand and I fought against them.
"Rebecca. Stop! It's me!" said a familiar voice.
"Rick?" I asked. Suddenly the bag was off my face, confirming my suspicion.
"Come on we gotta go." he said as he hurried me, but I couldn't move fast.
"Rick I can't." I said. He finally caught sight of my leg.
"Fuck!" he cursed. "Daryl." he said. At the sound of his name my heart clenched. He appeared out of the smoke and picked me up bridal style. He ran down the hall leading to the exit behind Rick. The sound of gunfire came from behind us.
"Come on!" Rick said as he led us through the back of a house. Daryl set me down on the floor. I was losing a lot of blood. I could feel my head spinning. "Daryl. I-I don't feel good." I said quietly, my eyes wanting to close. "Keep yer damn eyes open!" he growled at me, though his face was covered in worry. I nodded, though I knew it was going to be hard to keep them open. "We need to get out of here. Can you walk?" he asked me.
I shook my head, my breathing becoming labored.
"How 'bout you?" he asked Glenn.
Glenn forced himself to his feet and nodded. "Let's go." Rick ordered.
Daryl scooped me up and Rick grabbed the last smoke bomb. He opened the door and threw it out. A few seconds later there was a loud bang. "Let's go!"
We hurried out the doors into the smoke, gunshots fired. Rick fired at the guards and we made it to the wall. Oscar stood on top of the hood of a bus by wall. He helped Glenn over as Rick was yelling at us to go. Daryl had just gotten over and I was over when Oscar yelled and fell to the ground. He had gotten shot in the arm. We hurried down the streets.
"Where is that woman?!" hissed Daryl.
"She's on her own now." Rick said as we hurried away.
*IMPORTANT EDIT: All mentions of Michonne leading them out have been removed, watched the episode and realized she couldn't do it because she was off slayin' the Governor's daughter...
