5: Since When Do They Do That?!
"Ah!!" I scream and sit up straight on the bed. I take in deep breaths while murmuring that is was just a dream. I look out the window near to see sunshine shining down outside.
I groan and change into a t-shirt and shorts. I run to the dining pavilion and sit across from Luke.
"How was sleeping in the ocean cabin?" He asked. I sigh. I've slept in the Poseidon cabin for the past week and ever since then Kronos has been evading my dreams. I'm not giving in. I never will. I sadly still have to sit at the Hermes table which really sucks.
"The usual." I sigh and I make an offering of a piece of bacon. Now, I know I just gave up bacon, but if you ever ate camp bacon, you would understand. It tastes like Pegasus manure.
I sit down and think about the day Annabeth, Graver, and Percy left.
~~FLASHBACK~~
"Oh gods!" I flung my arms around Annabeth. "Don't kill yourself!" I cry.
"I won't Amanda. I promise." Annabeth laughs.
I move to Grover. "Stay cool goat boy." I nod my head.
He bleats and gives me a hug. "And don't tell him either," I whisper into his ear.
"Percy. Good luck." I tell him and I hold my hand out to shake. He takes it and an awkward silence fills the atmosphere.
"Well." I clear my throat. "I have to go. You should leave soon." I say and I walk back to camp.
~~REALITY~~
I slowly eat the rest of my bacon, eggs, and waffles. Luke knows I'm depressed. I have no one here besides him. Everyone ignores me. I... No! I drop my fork. Kronos is getting to me. That can't happen.
"Excuse me." I leave. I walk past Chiron and Director D looking at me suspiciously.
"Avery No-last-name. Come here ." Director D orders. I stop mid step and slowly turn around.
"Yes?" I ask as I arrive at the table.
"Avery-"
"Amanda." I correct.
"Amanda. The Olympic council has summoned you." Director D shrugs nonchalantly.
"WHAT?!" I scream. The gods have been silent for years. Now I'm being summoned to Olympus?!
Everyone turns towards my screaming. I gulp.
"Nothing's wrong. Carry on with your meals." I order with a hint of charmspeak. They turn around and continue eating.
"Since when do they do that?!" I whisper.
"Dionysus has just told me this himself. I am not sure when they have stopped being silent, but I have a feeling this has something to do with your brother." Chiron guesses.
"Still." I whine.
"You will leave after breakfast." Chiron informs me. I nod and go get ready for meeting the Olympic council and- pause for dramatic effect- my father.
--page break--
"Thank you." I hand the burly man a wad of cash and I step out of the taxi. I look up at the Empire State Building before me. I inhale a shaky breath and walk inside.
Luckily, there is only a guy about 20 working at the front desk in the lobby. He was watching some film on a tv screen hidden around the desk.
"Excuse me?" I ask. The boy looks up and pauses the television.
"Yes?" He sounds annoyed.
"600th floor please." I smile.
"Funny. There is no such-" I light my hand on fire. He stares at me with wide eyes.
"L-L-Lord Zues is only taking a-a-appointments today ma'am." The guy stutters.
"I have an appointment." I growl, trying to look scary.
"Name?"
"Amanda."
He pauses waiting for my last name. I take a shaky breath. I've never said it before and I don't know why I was scared.
"Jackson. Amanda Jackson."
"Oh my gods!" He shouts and fumbles for a key. "Your her! You could have told me!" He hands me a key.
"Sorry. I didn't know I was that important." I apologize.
"Make sure no one is in the elevator with you and place it in the slot." I nod and walk to the elevator.
I slide the key in the slot and a blue button appeared. I pressed it and the car sailed upwards. Some sappy song was playing the distance as I paced back and forth.
How could this be happening? I'm not special. My brother is. Oh. That sounds weird. Back on topic. Why do they need me? Did Percy or Annabeth die and they want to laugh in my face? I shake the thought away as the elevator dings to signal my arrival.
The doors open and I gasp at Olympus in front of me. Words can't describe how beautiful it is. I somehow pull myself away from the elevator and out to the place elevated by clouds. I look down and see Manhattan below me. I quickly move back. I'm really high up.
I walk along the sidewalk and watch the nymphs and saytrs look at me like I'm a freak. In this case I am, but whatever.
I assume the giant building on top of a hill is the council room so I head there. Climbing the hill gave me time to think. More time to think gave me more time to worry.
As I was wishing I could stop thinking of the negative, I'm on top of the hill. I gulp and take a step inside.
12 giant thrones were making a inward 'u' as I came in. All were filled except one near the bottom of the 'u'. It had an ocean print on it. My eyes got wide as I realized whose throne that was.
I look at the center of attention and I see Zues, all high and mighty.
"Lord Zues." I bow and look up at him.
"At ease, daughter of my brother." His voice booms like thunder. Ironic.
I stand up and take a shaky breath, "I was summoned?" I ask.
"Yes. As you may-" he was interrupted by a 'pop'. He turned towards the noise and his face is grown into a scowl. I followed his gaze and I tried to hide my sudden discomfort.
My dad has arrived.
He looked like a fisherman. He wore a Tommy Bahama shirt, khaki Bermuda shorts, and leather sandals. In his hand he had a glowing green trident.
"Sorry I'm late." His voice sends shivers down my spine. He sounded exactly like the voice inside my head. Chiron was right. He seems to not have noticed me at all. That doesn't surprise me due to his incapability to claim me after 5 years. Stop thinking like Kronos. I scolded my self.
"I expect more out of you brother. Especially when I'm about to decide your child's fate." Poseidon gaze briefly shifts to me and he gives me a gentle smile quickly and then looks back at Zues.
"Please continue. The longer we bicker the longer you will be without your Master Bolt and I without my apology." Poseidon urges. Well, I know who I get my sass from. He earns a death glare from Zues.
"Amanda. As you may know, your brother is on a quest with a saytr and a daughter of Athena. They are in need of assistance. You will be transported to Las Vegas and you will find the Lotus Casino." I nod my head as he explains what I am to do. "Get them back on they're quest and return here. As quickly as possible. No planes or I will blast you put of the sky." He warns.
"Yes sir."
"Brother? May I speak to my child before she leaves?" Dad asked nervously.
"Are you seriously going to talk to her? That is unwise even for your standards." A woman with storm grey eyes asked.
"She must want explanations of being abandoned. By both parents, Athena." Dad argues.
Zues sighs. "I guess you may." Poseidon smiles and shrinks to normal size.
He leads me out of the room and back outside. Surprisingly, he turned and gave me a hug. I gave one back and smiled.
"Oh, Amanda. I am sorry. 5 years of ignoring you, and dealing with your new powers-" he rambled.
"Dad!" I shout. This was a whole different side to the god that I, and probably every mortal, has never seen. "It's fine. I understand. For the most part." I admit.
"You will understand all
in good time. Now, I must let you return to the council so they can send you off to your brother."
"Yes, father." He leads me back into the room and he bounds to his throne, growing mid-step. During my talk with my Dad, I noticed something. Kronos was wrong. I am appreciated here. I'm sure that Percy would appreciate me as well if he knew who I am. The prophecy!
"Um... Lord Zues?" I ask nervously. He turns to look at me. I gulp. "To fulfill the prophecy, I must tell Percy of my relation to him. When will I know when to do that?"
"You will know." Zues answers. "Now child of my brother, blessed by all of us, we would never do this to a normal Demigod; however, due to your blessings and rush to save your brother, I am willing to make an exception. Goodbye Amanda."
Before I could ask what he was doing, I felt this weird pain in my stomach. My eyes screwed shut. The pain subsided and I peeled my open.
I was surrounded by casinos and blinking lights. How the Hades did I get here? Where in Olympus am I? I thought to myself.
My Athena power kicked in.
'Well based on the architecture in the surrounding areas, I would be in Las Vegas. How I got here would be because the gods teleported me here? The most logical explanation.' I thought.
I walk around looking for a Lotus Casino. Ironically, it was the largest Casino in Las Vegas. I take a deep breath and step in.
"Welcome ma'am." A host said. "Take this complementary, unlimited card and get started at the games. You are welcome to stay as long as you like." He smiles.
"No thank you. I'm not staying." I explain.
"I insist."
"No!" I charmspeak. I sprint away and into the crowd of people. The host has no means of following me, which can be good or bad. Either he can't follow me or he's getting back up. I prefer the first one.
I see Percy talking to some hippie looking guy from the 70's. Oh! They convince you to stay here forever. That's clever.
"Percy!" I yell. His head shot up.
"Amanda?" He asked. He walked up to me. "What the Hades are you doing here?"
"I'm here to help." I reply and smile at him.

Hey! Poseidon is out of character a bit but I don't care. He needed to be for Amanda's sake, right?
