Chapter 7

Astrid's POV

"I think you secretly like Hiccup." Punzie stated as we walked to her house. It was finally Friday and she was having Merida and I over for the night.

"Would you give that a rest? The more you ask, the more I'm just gonna say no." I replied and pulled out my phone.

"Who are you texting?"

"Uncle Finn, to tell him I won't be home until late." I sassed. Punzie rolled her eyes and looked forward.

"We're here!" She shouted, making me jump and almost throw my phone onto the concrete.

"I almost just threw my phone Punzie."

"Sorry. Hey where's Merida?"

"She had to go back to her house for her phone charger. She leavesit at home so she'll be here later." I felt my phone start to vibrate in my back pocket. I plled it out to see what it was. It was Merida trying to facetime. I accepted the call. "Hey where you at?"

"Ugh I'm stuck at home tonight because I have to babysit the wee devils I call my brothers. My parents went out and won't be back until tomorrow morning." She groaned as one of the boys ran past her camera. "Hamish sit down and eat your lunch!" She shouted.

"Sounds rough. Want us to come over?"

"Yes please. " SHe replied and hung up.

"Well, change of plans. We're going to Merida's house. Be ready for screaming little red-heads." I told Punzie as we turned around.

Hiccup's POV

"Okay tell me honestly. Do you have feelings for a girl?" Jack asked for the millionth time.

"Would you stop pestering me? It's getting annoying."

"I just want an answer."

"What if I say yes? What are you going to do with that information?"

"Find out who it is."

"And if I tell you who it is?"

"I would set you two up."

"I'm still not telling you."

"Alright because I already know that you do like someone." He stated.

"How?"

"You wouldn't be so defensive and resistant if you didn't like anyone."

"I hate you." I replied as I opened my front door. "Dad, Jack's here!" I shouted. It was silent. "Dad?"

"Where is he?"

"That's what I'm trying to find out idiot." I said. "Be right back." I added as I walked upstairs and knocked on his bedroom door. There was no response, so I assumed he was in his office or out somewhere. I shrugged and walked back downstairs. "I couldn't find him."

"Dude you gotta like, oil you leg or something I can hear you coming from a mile away."

"Really? I haven't heard anything."

"That's because you're oblivious to it now sit down I already got food and turned on the TV."

Merida's POV

"Okay seriously Violet and Tate are the cutest couple ever!" Punzie shouted as we wtched American Horror Story.

"I have to admit, they are cute." Astrid replied. "And Tate is kinda good looking." She added in a whisper.

"Oooh Astrid falliing for Evan Peters." I laughed.

"Shut up Merida I'm not 'falling for Evan Peters', I just think he's good looking." She defended.

"Yeah, and plus, Astrid has her eye on a boy at school." Punzie chimed. Astrid's eyes widened, then quickly turned into a murderous stare. She turned her head slowly to Punzie, who froze and pursed her lips.

"Shut. Up. Punzie."

"You don't have to tell me twice." Punzie squeaked.

"Apparently I do!" She said loudly.

"Would you queit down you're gonna wake the wee devils!"

"They're probably already awake being mischevious somewhere." Astrid replied. We snapped our heads back when we heard a crash in the kitchen.

"I vote Merida goes to look what that was." Punzie whispered.

"I vote Astrid." I whispered.

"I vote me." Astrid stated and stood,. then walked behind the wall to the kitchen. We heard her scream and stood up.

"ASTRID!" Punzie and I shouted in unison and ran in the kitchen. "Astrid are you-!" I paused as I saw her standing there, perfectly fine, laughing until her face was red.

"You guys are so gullible!" She said between laughs. "The boys didn't break the glass. Stormfly did!" She whistled and the small dragon came out from behin the coffee maker.

"I hate you Astrid." Punzie sassed.

"We thought you died!" I shouted.

"I didn't." She laughed. I sighed and walked back into the living room.

"Oh god now I'm all on edge." Punzie said.

"Oh relax it was nothing." Astrid stated as her and Punzie sat down on the couch. I heard a phone vibrate.

"Who's was that?"

"Mine." Astrid raised her hand. Punzie and I widened our eyes and leaned forward. "OKay this is creepy."

"Who's it from?" I asked.

"Tell us!" Punzie anticipted.

"I'm not telling you guys!" She sanpped and turned her body so we couldn't see her phone. Punzie and I looked at each other and nodded. We dove on top of Astrid. "GUYS!" She screamed.

Hiccup's POV

"Hey Jack you've been with a lot of girls right?" I asked, looking down at the jumble of letters that I just recieved as a text.

"Dude if you need girl advice ask Flynn he knows everything about girls." Jack replied.

"Not everything shrimps." Flynn stated as he walked in and slammed my door.

"Flynn what are you doing here? I though you were at a party." I asked.

"I left, it wasn't fun."

"Woah Flynn didn't have fun at a party." Jack stated sarcastcally. "Oh how the tables have turned." He added in a mumble.

"Shut it frost-butt I bet you haven't even been to party!" Flynn snapped.

"Woah, okay, that was unexpected." I said as I came between the two. I smelled the air. "Flynn have you been drinking?" I asked in with a hush.

"No." He stated.

"Then you wouldn't mind walking in a straight line?" I asked.

"I'm not doing that. It's stupid. C'mon you guys know me! I don't drink." He said before he collapsed ono the wood that was by the couch.

"Oh my god!" Jack shouted.

"I would love it if you didn't panic!" I shouted back and grabbd my phone. "Let me just call my dad." The phone rang and I tapped my foot on the ground.

"Hello?"

"Dad! Hey I could really use yor help!"

"Sure, what is it?"

"Flynn just came over and then he passed out. And he smelled like alcohol. Jack did you smell it?" He nodded. "Jack smelled it too."

"Call 9-1-1 and let the paramedics take care of him. Once they take him to the hospital, call his parents and tell them."

"Ok cool thanks dad!" I said and clicked the small red button at the bottom of the screen.

"I just called, they're on their way." Jack stated. "What do we do until they get here?"

"Put him on his side, and don't let hm lay on his back."

"What are you doing?"

"Remember freshman year in health class we learned what to do in case your friend passes out after drinking? Well we have to lean him on his side and not let him lay back."

"Oh I rememebr that! Geez, never thought I would actually hve to do that."

"Well neither did I but I'm glad we know what to do." I said as the paramedics burst through the door.

"What happened?" A medic asked.

"He came stumbling in and I asked f he had been drinking and he said no tehn fell over."

"Did he drink here?"

"No at a party."

"Tiffany's party." Jack added.

"Oh we get guys and girls from Tiffany parties all of the time. So, is she popular?" Jason asked. He's a paramedic that has been friends with my ddad for a long tme. I consider him an uncle basically.

"Yeah. She's your typical popular, rude, snobby, rich cheerleader that every guy wants. She throws parties every weekend, but I've never gone. Wait, you guys call them Tiffany parties?" I asked.

"Yeah. Tiffany nce came in with alcohol poisoning once. The entire staff laughed about it for the whole night." He finished explaining as my phone began to vibrate.

"Hello?"

"What the heck is going on there is an ambulance outside of your house!"

"Well hello to you too Ruffnut." Ruffnut has been my long life best friend besides Jack, and her twin brother Tuffnut.

"Ambulance Hiccup!"

"It's nothing. Flynn came in with alcohol poisoning and passed out. Wait, why are you outside of my house?"

"You idiot we're neighbors! I can see every wndow of your house!"

"I gotta go Ruffnut I need to call Flynn's parents." I hung up. "Jack call Flynn's parents."

"What? Why?"

"My phone is at like 3%" He groaned and pulled his phone out of his pocket.

"He's gonna be fine. We just gotta get him to the hospital to have his stomach pumped." Jason told.

"Ew I don't need to know that." I cringed. "Thanks for coming out here Jason."

"Just doing my job Hiccup." He smiled and walked out, shutting my front door behind him.

"Well that wasn't the highlight of my night." Jack stated flately.

"It makes me curious about Tiffany parties."

"Do not get curious about those. Dude Flynn just went to the hospital! Do you want that to be you? Your dad would LOOSE it if he found out you were drinking."

"But if I didn't drink, he wouldn't 'loose it'."

"Everyone drinks at a Tiffany party. Don't even try to resist alcohol touching your lips."

"Alright fine. I'll froget about the Tiffany parties."

/~monday morning~\

I sat on the bus next to Jack and sucked on a candy cane.

"Dude it isn't even close to Christmas how did you get a candy cane?"

"My dad brought them home yesterday." I answered as I puled another out of my backpack. "Want one?" I offered it to Jack.

"Yes." He said and retrieved the candy cane from my hand, only to have it be stolen by a tired looking Flynn. I haneded Jack another one.

"Well someone looks happy." I said sarcastically, looking over at Flynn.

"I'm in so much trouble for Satuday night." He moaned.

"Yeah I would think you would be in trouble."

"Normally my parents don't care though!"

"You went to the hospital dude! You could've died!" Jack snapped. Flynn snickered.

"I would love for you to provide an example of when someone died because they drank too much." He sassed.

"Jeremy Thompson." Jack stated in a serious tone. Everyone on the bus fell silent, eyes wide, looking back at us. Flynn's eyes even widened. "Most popular guy in school last year, even though he was a sophmore. Went to a party, and died of alcohol poisoning."

"You know it's low to mention Thompson." Flynn said in a hushed voice. I slid out from my seat and moved out of their way. I sat in the closest open seat.

"Oh hey Hiccup." I turned around and saw a familiar blonde girl with blue eyes.

"Oh hey Astrid." I breathed. She smelled the air slightly.

"Your breath smells really pepperminty."

"I'm eating a candy cane." I lifted the cane shaped, red and white candy.

"Where did you find candy canes in the middle of Semptember?"

"My dad brought them home yesterday." I said as the bus stopped in front of the school. "See you later!" I waved and dragged Flynn and Jack off of the bus. We stepped off the final stair and I pulled them to the side of the door. "Would you two stop fighting. This has been going on for days and I'm getting tired of it."

"He starts all of them because he's as big of a drama hog as Tiffany!" Jack shouted.

"Don't you dare compare me to Tiffany!" Flynn shouted.

"Oh because she dumped you?! The one girl in the school that actually dumped you?!"

"No because she's nothing like me! And if you think I'm like Tiffany, then I can't hang out with you!" Flynn stormed off. Jack aighed angrily and stomped to class, leaving me in the grass, confused.

/~second period~\

I walked into class to Jack waving for me to sit next to him, but Flynn waving for me to sit next to him at the same time. I sighed with relief as I saw an open spot next to Ruffnut.

"What the heck? You never sit next to me." She stated.

"Jack and Flynn are fighting and I'm caught in the crossfire." I replied.

'That's rough buddy." She sympathized. "What are you gonna do about it?"

"Wait until they mend it themselves. I'm not a magic relationship healer."

"They might need some help to get started on the mending though. And I think you're the one who's going to have to give them both that little push they need to get started."
