Chapter 5~ wait what

Hiccup's POV

/~after school on friday~\

"Hey you guys coming to my party this weekend? It's gonna be sweet my parents are out of town." Flynn said as we walked to the bus.

"Will there be drinking?" Jack questioned with a normal tone.

"My parents are strictly against alcohol dude you know that. If there is drinking, it'll be the others with their own stuff." Flynn reasoned.

"I think I'll pass. Even if there's a chance of alcohol." Jack said as we climbed the three steps.

"Whatever. Hiccup you coming?"

"Uh no. I've got plans Saturday." I hestitated slightly.

"Woah rewind. Since when did you have plans that didn't involve us?" Jack interrogated.

"Yeah. Who are you seeing Hiccup?" Flynn asked, staring at me. I hesitated about telling them that I was hanging out with Astrid. Well, I guess I have to lie.

"My dad is having my Uncle over. So he's bringing my Snotlout." I lied.

"Ew cousin Snotlout." Jack complained.

"Yeah. I'd love to go but you know Snotlout!" I said with a fake smile.

"Hiccup, are you alright? You're acting strange." Flynn said and scanned my face.

"Me? Oh I'm totally fine." I lied again. Oh gods Hiccup would you just stop talking.

"Okay." Flynn said and backed away slowly as the bus jerked forward, causing Toothless to snap his head up.

"Easy bud. It's just the bus." I whispered and he layed his head back down but kept his eyes open. After about 5 minutes of silence between the three of us, the bus finally pulled up at my stop. I grabbed my bag and started walking off. "See you guys later." I waved at Jack and Flynn, then stepped off.

The doors closed behind me and the bus pulled off, tires screeching againt the asphalt. After the about three minute walk it is back to the house, I walked in the house and set my bag on the floor.

"Dad I'm home!" I shouted and went into the kitchen for a drink. I grabbed a mini gatorade and opened it. I got skeptical when I didn't get a response from my dad. "Dad? You home?" I walked upstairs slowly. "Dad?" I walked up to his office door and knocked.

When there was no answer, I slowly peeked inside. I opened the door fully and saw that he wasn't in there. I shut the office door and walked down to his room, then knocked on the door. Again, no answer. It was completely silent in my entire house when my phone rang loudly from downstairs, scaring me to where I almost fell over. I walked down and picked it up. (the other person on the call will be in italics)

"Hello?"

"Oh Hiccup you're home!"

"Oh hey dad what's up?"

"Just calling to tell you I'll be gone until Monday night. I've stocked up the house with food and if you somehow need more food, there's money in the left hand cabinet of my desk in my office."

"Why won't you be home?"

"Emergency meeting in Oregon. Caught a plane 30 minutes after you left for school. Oh and there's plenty of fish in the garage freezer for Toothless. And don't think me being gone is a way for you to get out of cleaning him. When I get back I want him clean."

"I know. I'll see you Monday."

I hung up and put the phone on it's charger. I sighed and looked around. The house to myself until Monday. What could I do? I was snapped out of my trance when I heard the lock on the door turn. Toothless growled at it while I just sat and stared at it. It flung open, revealing a white haired teenager.

"Oh Jack really? You couldn't have at least texted me that you were coming over?" I stated with an annoyed tone.

"Do I ever?" He said. "I came over because you're acting weird. Like you're trying to hide something."

"What could I possibly have to hide?" I asked nervously as my phone vibrated.

"Who's that Hiccup?"

"Probably just my dad. He's out of town until Monday so he's probably just telling me things I already know." I stated and took out my phone. It was Astrid.

"Well? What did he say?"

"Oh... He just said I need to bathe Toothless." I lied. Man I need to work on my lying skills.

"So can you hang out tomorrow?"

"Ah I think Uncle Spitelout and cousin Snotlout are still coming over, just to check on me. Either them or Gobber. Not sure yet. I should keep the day open. Just in case." I said and plastered a fake smile on my face.

"Well then I guess I'll leave you to go clean Toothless. Good luck. Don't loose another limb." He joked and walked out, shutting the door behind him. I opened the text Astrid sent me.

A~ Hey

H~ hey what's up?

A~ nothing much, just really bored.

I was about to type when she called me. I shrugged and answered it.

"Hello?"

"ARE YOU AND ASTRID DATING?!" A random girl shouted. I didn't recognize her voice at all, but it was kinda high-pitched and whoever it was seemed really happy.

"Uh who is this?"

"Rapunzel Corona give me my phone back right now!" I heard Astrid shout from the background.

"Just tell me are you and Astrid dating?" The girl asked.

"No, why would you think that?"

"We read your text messages! You two are hanging out tomorrow!" A girl with a heavy scottish accent stated in the same bubbly tone as the other one.

"She's just helping me with a few things, that's all." I replied as there was a clang in my kitchen, followed by Toothless running around in circles, covered in what looked like flour. "Toothless what did you do?!" I shouted. "I gotta go, I'll see you tomorrow Astrid." I said and hung up. I put my phone in my pocket and picked Toothless up. He was sneezing repeatedly becasue of the dust. "How did you even get in the cabinet bud?"

I walked into the kitchen and saw the cabinet had a small hole burned through it, small enough for him to squeeze through. Well, Dad is going to kill me when he sees this on monday. I brushed Toothless off with a towel and put him on the couch. "Stay here while I figure out how to fix this."

I walked into the kitchen and saw a hole burned through the left croner of the cabinet. Ah Toothless you're killing me. Ok how do I fix this. I tapped my foor agaisnt the tile. Maybe just some wood? I mean that would work right? I walked down to the basement and flicked on the light. I went to my workbench and gabbed a small plank of wood. I went back upstairs, measured the hole, then climbed back down to the basement. I cut the wood to match the measurements, then grabbed a hammer and nails. I put them in a toolbox then went upstairs and into the kitchen. I began hammering the nails into the wood. Once i was all done, I let out a relieved breath and packed everything up. I placed it all back in the basement and once I got back upstairs, I turned an dlocked the door since it was getting late. I went around locking the doors and windows, then began climbing the stairs towards my room.

"Come on Toothless, time for bed." I shouted and he came bounding to my ankles, then walked beside them until I got in my room, changed into my pajamas, and rolled under my covers and fell fast asleep.

/~the morning~\

I woke up as the sun shone brightly through the space in between my two curtains. I groaned and rolled over so my back faced the window. I opened my eyes slightly and looked at the clock on my dresser by my door. It said it was 10:45. Okay I have until like 12 until Astrid comes. I closed my eyes once more, but woke up as Toothless bounced on my shoulder.

"Ugh fine I'm awake." I said and oushed him off my shoulder so I could sit up. "Toothless what are you doing." I said as I watched him try to climb my door so he could open it. I got up, walked over and opened it. He darted downstairs towards his food bowl. I walked slowly downstairs, yawning and rubbing my eyes.

"Well good morning Hiccup." Jack said from my couch.

"AH!" I screamed. "Dude what are you doing in my house at 10:45 o a Satuday?!"

"I wanted to see what your special plans were." He answered and faced me as he turned off the tv.

"My 'special plans' are none of your business. Can't you go help Flynn prepare for his party or something? I need to get the house cleaned up."

"For your special guest.?"

"Yes for my guest now if you would." I said and motioned towards the door. "I'll try and see if we can hang out later tonight or tomorrow." I told as he walked out the door. I shut and locked it behind him. As soon as I was back upstairs, I noticed my phone vibrate. I picked it up and unlocked it, seeing I had a new message.

A~ hey Hiccup i need your address for later

H~ oh hey it's 329 Chief lane (lol)

A~ perfect thank you! I'll see you later!

H~ ok see you!

I locked my phone and looked at the clock with a stupid grin. The clock said it was 11:05, so I quickly went downstairs and cleaned up. Took out the trash, cleaned the counters, washed the dishes that were in the sink, and fed Toothless. I looked around at the clean area, then went upstairs and took a quick shower.

When I stepped out and got changed, it was 11:45. I guess I had taken a longer shower then I thought. Eh whatever. I walked downstairs and sat on the couch, then turned on the tv. I flipped thought the channels, looking for something interesting to watch. I ended up resting my head in my palm and flipping through channels for about 10 minutes. I was sucked back into reality when the doorbell chimed. I snapped my head up, turned off the tv and trotted over to the door. Before opening it, I took a deep breath, placed my hand on the doorknob, then opened it with a smile.

"Hey!" Astrid greeted cheerfully with a grin that shined brighter then the sun.

"Hey! Thanks for helping with Toothless today, I really appreciate it."

"Oh it's not a problem at all. I brought Stormfly, if that's okay." She said and gestured to a small blue Deadly Nadder at her ankle.

"I don't see a problem with it." I replied and stepped to the side, gesturing for her to come in. She stepped inside and I shut the door.

"Fancy place you've got here."

"Well when your dad is as important as mine, you get treated like royalty."

"Is it fun?" She asked.

"What?"

"Being treated like that? You know, like royalty."

"Oh. I'm not fond of it. I've never liked being in the spotlight very much."

"You're in the spotlight basically everyday at school." She stated.

"Yeah. Jack and Flynn adore it but me, nope." I said and popped the 'p' in nope. I started to look around for Toothless while she played with Stormfly.

"They seem like the kind of people that would like it. Anyway, where's Toothless?"

"That's what I'm trying to find out." I looked by his food bowl. "Toothless?" I called. He poked his head out from under the pillow on the couch. "There you are bud."

"Is he hiding?" Astrid asked from behind me.

"He knows that he is gonna get a bath so he's trying to get out of it." I lifted him from the pillow while he squirmed. "He does it all the time."

"Wow he really doesn't like baths does he?" She said as I walked to the bathroom and she followed.

"Oh not at all. Usually when I bathe him I end up with soap and water all over me and the bathroom. It's nuts."

"You know he might react less if you just clean him with a wet brush instead of actually putting him in water." My jaw dropped a tthe idea.

"Oh my gods Astrid you're a genius! How did I not think of that?"

"Because you aren't me."

"Let's just find Toothless and get him clean." I said sarcastically, making both of us smile.
