Nico lay awake, thinking about the way Will and himself had left things last night. After their argument Nico had taken a trip to visit his dad, trying to get way from the camp and the people there. Everyone always seemed to know everyone else's business and Nico hated it, the whole camp seemed to know about their little 'domestic' before he did. That's when his phone, the one that Will had bought him, buzzed. At first he thought it was just a text but it kept ringing and then 'walking on sunshine' started playing and he knew Will was trying to call him. He grabbed the phone and held it in front of his face, closing his eyes and then exhaling deeply and throwing his arms out around him.
"You should answer that." He was startled by the voice that came from his door. He turned quickly and saw Persephone standing leaning in this doorway.
"I know, but things are getting a bit complicated right now. You wouldn't get it..." He trailed off as his godly step-mother breathed a laugh, he looked at her in confusion.
"Oh child, I've have a fair few complicated relationships and of course I wouldn't understand your own personal issues. But if you want to talk about what's going on with Will-" how did she know about Will? "Then I do hope you know that I'm always here. I know how Hades can be sometimes with your....boy troubles!" She sent an expectant glance Nico's way and they both cracked up laughing.
"Yeah, but-" Nico's phone cut him off
'Im walking on sunshine, ooooohhhh. I'm walking on sunshine-', his phone sang loudly and he looked at Persephone who was already leaving
"Answer it!" She called back loudly. And he did.
"Nico!? Oh thank gods! I'm so sorry about everything I said, and you knew I didn't mean any of it but I just need to know that you were safe and when you didn't answer the first time I thought you might have shadow traveled and got caught in a pack of monsters-" Will managed to yell all of this without talking a single breath.
"Woah!" Nico laughed a little "It's okay, I'm in the underworld Palace and yes, I'm fine. You know I'm sorry too. Of course neither of us meant the things we said and well I love you, Will..." Nico could hear his boyfriend take a sharp inhale of breath on the other end
"Does this mean you are coming back to camp? It's just I really, kinda, miss you!" Nico smiled at the phone and asked
"Why don't you come down? There's plenty of room and my bedroom is much bigger and the bed is unbelievable-"
"I'm there!" Will said a little too quickly.
"Okay," Nico had to laugh "I'll pick you up in a second. Meet me in my cabin in 5."
"Sounds great! Okay see you soon!"
"You too, Will." Just as Nico was about to hang up he heard Will say his name
"...Nico..?"
"Yeah?"
"I love you, too." Then Will hung up, leaving Nico to grin at his phone like it had just told him it loved him
"You better get going then!" Persephone reappeared at his door.
"Do you listen to all my conversations?" She shrugged as Nico turned his back to her and shook his head.
"You won't tell my dad that Will's staying, will you?" At which the goddess just laughed
"No, why would I cause such trouble for myself. If I did, I would no doubt have questions such as "what do you think they are doing?" Or "what are they talking about? Can you hear?" All night! I would rather sleep sound." Nico smiled a thank you at her and she left, for real this time.
"Your welcome!" She called back.
