Chapter Five

A/N: hey gang I'm tired asf but I forgot to post this yesterday sorry 😫😫😫

Alexander was early.

He felt sort of awkward sitting on a bar stool with nothing more than a cup of tonic water in the middle of a club, but he didn't want to risk being late. That wouldn't make a good impression on his new hall-mates.

Speaking of hall-mates, he wondered what they were like.

Sure, John and Lafayette were great, welcoming and nice, but what if the others were different?

What if they hated Alex, thought he rambled too much or something? Thought he was lame for not really wanting to drink? Why'd he come to a club if he doesn't drink, or dance, or do anything remotely club-like?

Alexander decided this whole thing was a bad idea and stood up to leave.

"Alex!"

He sat back down again.

"Hey!"

A group of people wandered up to him, all of them smiling. Two of the girls in the group were practically bouncing with excitement.

John led the group, with Lafayette to the left of him and a shorter but more burly man to his right. There were three girls behind them, the shortest of them all practically falling over herself to get a look at him. The second tallest was smiling brightly, a slight flush in her cheeks, and the tallest had a dangerous glint in her eyes that matched the smirk she was wearing nicely.

"You've met Lafayette already," John started, having to yell a little to be heard over the music. Lafayette waved slightly. "This is my other roommate, Hercules," he gestured to the buff man on the other side of him. "Behind me are the Schuyler Sisters, Peggy," the shortest waved, "Angelica," the tallest winked, "and Eliza," the middle one tugged on her sleeves and smiled a little wider. "Guys, meet Alexander."

"Hi! It's nice to meet all of you! I'm excited to get to know you better!"

"Awe, he's so sweet I could just eat him up!" Peggy cried, taking her chance to crowd around Alexander. "Ooh, you'd look so hot with an undercut— I'll book you an appointment! My hairdresser is really really nice, I think you'd like her, if you catch my drift." She winked, before pausing and tapping her pointer finger on her chin. "Or are you into guys? Hmm... I'm sure there's some cute guy hairdressers at the salon that I could hook you up with—"

"Uh... girls are fine. Or— guys are, too, I um... guess? I don't have a preference? Well, when it comes to hairdressers actually, I'd want the one who's better at cutting hair— sorry, why are we talking about this?"

Peggy wasn't listening. "Perfect!" she cried, pushing John closer to Alex. "You and John order some drinks! The rest of you, follow me. I'm gonna finally prove that I am the best dancer here!"

Peggy rushed off to the dance floor, Lafayette and Hercules following close behind her. Angelica, however, stayed behind for a moment, choosing to walk up towards Alexander instead.

"Hey, thanks for coming out tonight to meet us. You seem really cool, I'd like to get to know you better. Can I get your number?"

Eliza showed up behind her. "Can I get your number too, please?" she asked quietly, playing with a strand of her hair.

"Oh, uh, of course!"

The exchange of numbers took only a minute, and then the other two were following Peggy to the dance floor as well.

"Well... that was exciting," Alexander said, rubbing the back of his neck. John snorted.

"Something like that," he agreed. "Hey, sorry if you felt obligated to come out tonight or anything. My friends really wanted to meet you, you know. And then all that with Peggy— that must be kinda overwhelming."

Alexander just shrugged, smiling a little at John's antics. It was sweet. "Nah, it's fine. I wanted to meet them too, honestly," he said, playing with the rim of his cup. "Now. What do you want to drink?"

John hummed, thinking about it while Alex waved down the bartender. A tired looking man walked over, setting a glass down on the bar in front of him. "I'll take three pints of Sam Adams, please," John said politely.

"Who are you gonna give the other glasses to?" Alexander asked as the bartender poured out the order. John laughed incredulously.

"What do you mean? They're all for me."

"What??"

"Yeah," John nodded, taking the glasses once they were all poured.

"You're gonna have that much?"

"Hell yeah!" John cried, grinning in a way that made Alexander's stomach flip. "Wanna watch me drink them all at once?"
