Chapter one: On the road to hell

Dick POV
A teenage girl walked into my bar and sat down at a table by the door. She opened a backpack and removed a cracked phone. I walked over to her in an attempt to start a conversation.
"Hey, sorry for this but I hope you aren't going to ask for a drink, I won't complain about letting you stay here but you're definitely underaged." I  said half-jokingly. She glanced up at me with tired indigo eyes.
"Don't worry about me, I won't be staying long." She said in a tired but friendly tone.
"Don't worry about that, stay as long as you like just so long as you don't ask for alcohol." I said encouragingly. She gave me a small, grateful smile and I got an idea.
"Hey, you look hungry, you want anything? I'll give you some time to look over the menu, when you see something you like just let me know and I'll get my.... little brother to get right on it." I said smiling at her.
"But I don't have any-" I cut her off holding up a hand.
"It's on the house." I told her before walking back behind the bar. I cleaned up and dealt with some regulars before I saw her timidly nod to me and I walked into the kitchen.
"Hey, Damian we've got a new customer out on table three, go take care of it okay?" I ordered the teenage boy who was technically my ward. He shot me a green eyed glare and pushed past me grumbling about needing to hire more help.
"Don't forget that times are hard for everyone Damian, it's not my fault that people need to eat more than I need money." I said stopping him for a moment.
"So should I assume that this 'new customer' is another one of your charity cases?" He asked me coldly and I sighed and nodded.
"She's.....different though, you'll see, you might even like her." I said a small smile beginning to spread across my face. He rolled his eyes and muttered about how he doubted it. The second he stepped out of the kitchen and saw her though, he froze like a statue. I could clearly see him analyzing her every feature. From her shoulder length midnight black hair to her indigo eyes and pale skin. I chuckled to myself and tapped him on the shoulder, causing him to jump slightly.
"You know if you want to go talk to her you can, after you take her order of course, just don't come on too strong." I said encouragingly. He shrugged me off blushing slightly and strode over to her table. Along the way he grabbed a wilted flower from a small vase on the bar. Oh no...... I thought as I tried not to laugh. He walked right up to her, thrust the flower into her face and demanded,
"Go out with me." She looked at him blankly and asked,
"Who are you?" He didn't miss a beat and immediately responded,
"I'm Damian,I'm the guy who's going to date you." She leaned past him and looked at me calling,
"Is he always like this?" I pinched the bridge of my nose and nodded.
"Yep, yeah he is." I said chuckling. She nodded slowly to show that she barely understood. She turned back to him and said,
"I'm Raven, and I'm pretty sure that in order for you to date me I have to accept." She crossed her arms and leaned back in her chair. I noticed three oddly shaped shadows on the floor by her feet and frowned. Damian smiled and told her,
"You have a nice name." She blinked and I could tell she was starting to change the way she saw him. Good luck Damian, from the looks of things, you aren't the only one trying to get her. I thought eyeing the three shadows.
"I don't know anything about you Damian, why would I date you?" She asked. I walked over and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"He may be a bit rough around the edges, but he's got a heart of gold somewhere in here." I said patting his back. She looked at him curiously and placed her elbow on the table and leaned her head on her hand.
"'Heart of gold', huh? That's worth a lot these days, how about this, get me some water and a sandwich then we can try talking." She said smiling and he nodded enthusiastically and headed into the kitchen.
