Chapter Four
Dean's POV
Cas, Benny and I watched Jo thrash on the bed. We had no idea what to do. We knew this day would come but we never knew when. She was gaining her powers. She was still unconscious, but anytime one of us got near her, she would let out a horrid scream.
Soon Gabe and Sam were back. Gabe probably sensed something was happening, and teleported himself and Sam here. It hurt me so much that I couldn't help her.
This went on for at least a half hour. When she finally stopped, she started to levitate off of the bed, about a foot into the air. We all backed up slightly, covering our eyes from the light radiating off of her. The light only got brighter. It really affected Benny and he had to step into the other room til it stopped.
When the light finally did stop, Jo fell back onto the bed. We all rushed over to her. She wasn't unconscious anymore... But I think sleeping would be a better word. She looked like she would wake up any minute. But she didn't. We tried and tried but she wouldn't wake up. We eventually went to sleep, and Benny went home, and hoped for the best.
The next morning, Gabe was the first up. Then me, Sam, and Cas. Gabe walked up to her and bends down. He gently shakes her. She sucks in a deep breath, brings her hands up to her face, and lets out the breath. She sits up on the bed, removing her hands from her face, we see her eyes glowing. The green one glowing bright, the blue one glowing dark. When she blinks, the glowing stops.
"Who the Hell are you!" Jo yells, trying to scoot away on the bed. She must see our true faces.
"Uncle Sammy! There are demons and angels here and I don't know what to do!" Her bottom lips quivers. This was really strange cause Jo almost never cried. She quickly makes her way over to Sam, and he holds her in his large arms.
She buried her face in Sam's chest. "Jo. It's us." Gabe says. She looks at him with glossy eyes. He bends down and she wraps her arms around his neck. "Jophiel. You remember us right? Your parents?" Cas says. She looks at both of us, scrambles off the bed, then runs to Cas and I. We wrap her in a hug. "What is happening to me!? Why don't you look like yourselves!?" She sobs out.
"Jo. We never told you this. But since your father is an angel, and I am a demon because of the Mark... And since you were a DNA mash-up of us... You were either going to have demon or angel powers. But considering all that happened, we don't know anymore. You could have both. It's too soon to tell." I say to her.
She continues to cry. "How do I t-turn it off?" She sniffles. "Well. Close your eyes, count to ten, then open them again. You to tell your brain to turn it off while your doing it though." Cas tells her. She nods and closes her eyes.
When she opens them again, her eyes glow, then stop. "Did it work?" I ask. She nods and we wrap her into a large hug. Sam and Gabe join in as well.
Jophiel's POV
I was still scared of what was going on. My parents had made a few calls, telling me not to worry. But how could I not worry when I had no idea what was going on?
Sam and Gabe went to go take care of the Ephraim problem, and Ben was now here trying to calm me down. He is the only friend I have that knows what we do. He even helped out on a few hunts a while back. We became friends over that. It was great.
"What are you thinking about?" Ben asks. "The day we became friends." He smiles. "We were ten." He says. "You got taken and was replaced by a changeling. You were a really cute kid... By the way." "When you came in all alone, I thought you were the bravest kid ever." "You looked so scared that you looked like you were gonna pee your pants." I laughed. "Yea. Maybe. But at least I didn't scream when I gave you a hug as thanks." "I was ten. I was going through that faze when I thought cooties were real. I couldn't help it." We smiled at each other.
"Now you're the closest thing I have to a brother." I say and he pulls me into a hug. "Everything is going to be ok Jo." He says rubbing circles into my back. Cas and Dean had told him everything. From how I was born, to what happened today.
Dean walks over to us and places a hand on my shoulder. I look up at him. Ben and I had been sitting on the bed. "Ben. Can you do me a favor and watch out for Jo?" Ben nods. "Great. Now you have to make sure she doesn't 'turn' during school. We don't want anything happening to her." "I don't have all my classes with her... Two without her." "That's ok. As long you are with her for most of the day." He nods.
Ben left a few minutes later. Dean got reacquainted with Lisa and met her new husband, Chuck. He was the writer who wrote the Supernatural books. I for one was very excited to meet him.
The rest of the day was spent trying to figure out some of my powers. I could read minds, teleport, ability to see demon's and angel's true faces, I could even stretch my 'wings'. Of course they weren't actually there... But they had a shadow. They were like my Dad's except more demon like... Whatever demon wings looked like.
We ate take out for dinner, then went to bed early. For my sake.
In the morning, I was not looking forward to school. I got up before my parents and Uncles. I cleaned out my backpack of all weapons, filled it with my school stuff, grabbed clothes, and hopped in the shower.
When I got out, I wrapped my body and hair in towels. I looked into the mirror. Everything looked fine. I turned away from the mirror when I unwrapped my hair and got dressed into blue skinny jeans, black Panic! At The Disco tank, Dean's jacket, and black combat boots. When I turned back to the mirror, I almost screamed.
My hair had changed color. It was still brown, but now had red, black, white, and blue streaks in it. I hurried out of the bathroom. "Dad!" I yelled for Cas. He was the best at comfort. Everyone stopped what they were doing and turned they're attention to me.
"What happened to your hair!?" Dean exclaimed. "I-I don't know. Maybe it's from whatever is happening to me? Like the white and blue is angel, and red and black is demon?" I assumed. Cas walked over and wrapped me into a hug.
"It kinda looks cool." I say forcing a smile. "You hungry Jo?" Gabe asks me. "No. Did you gank that damn Ephraim?" "Yup." Sammy says from the kitchen.
We leave for school as soon as the others finish eating. Ben was already waiting for me outside of the school. I say goodbye to Dean, and go meet up with Ben.
"What happened to your hair?" Ben asks when I approach. I give him a bitch face and he completely understands right away. "Ahh." We find Samandriel in homeroom saving us seats. "Oh my God! I love your hair!" He exclaims when we sit down. "Thanks?" I respond, not entirely sure what else to say. No one ever compliments me but my parents, or other hunters. And that is only for my hunting skills. Not my appearance.
Alfie just laughs at me not knowing what to do. I feel my cheeks get hot and I look at Ben. He gasps slightly and covers my eyes with his hand. "Shit." I say under my breath. I close my eyes and move his hand away from his face. I slowly open them and he lets out a relieved breath. "What are you guys doing?" Alfie asks. "Oh. Uh. Just this little game we play. We cover each other's eyes. We don't know how it started... Probably something when we were little." I ramble absentminded. Alfie seems convinced though.
"A-Alfie. We have music class next? R-Right?" I stutter. He nods and tells me what has been going on in that class. Since I didn't have music at all last week.
After homeroom, Ben gives me a small hug before heading to his own class.
"You guys are really cute together. Are you sure you aren't dating?" Alfie asks me as we walk down the hallway. "What! No! We aren't... Alfie. We aren't dating. He is like a brother to me." He just smiles and shakes his head.
Alfie and I walked to the auditorium. We sat next to our friend group in the auditorium chairs. Did I mention that Jensen was in ALL my classes? Well he was in this one as well.
"No offense guys... But you don't seem all that musical." I say to Jared, Jensen, Misha, Ash, and Samandriel. Alfie shrugs, as does Misha and Jared. "Forced into this class." Ash says pointing to himself, and Jensen. The teacher walks onto the stage and we all look at him. "Good morning class." He was British. His accent was pretty cool as well. "As most of you know... I am your substitute teacher. But since we have a new student, I am going to inform you to all call me by my first name." I raise an eyebrow at Jared who was sitting on my right. He gives a half smile and we look at the teacher again. "And if you didn't know... My name is, Crowley."
Oh shit.
Crowley is the name of the king of Hell. He was top demon. I haven't met him personally... But I'm sure to his kingdom that he knew me. "Could you please come up here? Jophiel?" "You know... I'm good over here." I sassed. I wasn't just going to, VOLUNTARILY, stand next to an all powerful demon!
"Oh come on Jo. Get up there." Alfie says smiling. "Don't make me drag you up there." Jared weakly threatens. I roll my eyes. He sighs and throws me over his shoulder. "Hey! Put me down!" I yell whilst kicking and punching him from over his shoulder.
"I warned you." He teases. I sigh as he continues to carry me. "Ok. You asked for it." I swing my legs over his shoulder and flip over him so I land on my feet behind him. "What the fuck?" He says turning around surprised.
I shrug. But he grabs me again and drags me the rest of the way. "Thank you Jared." Crowley says. Jared leaves the stage and goes to sit by our laughing friends.
I had terrible stage fright. But having the King Of Hell stand next to you... That was worse. Without thinking twice, I bolted off the stage and into the girl's bathroom.
I breathed heavily and pulled out my phone once I locked myself into a stall and made sure no one else was in there.
I dialed a number and breathed even heavier.
"Hello?"
"Garth. It's Jophiel. Dean Winchester's daughter."
"Oh! Jo! I've heard allot about you. You know-"
"Yea ok. How do you kill the King Of Hell?"
"What!"
"Crowley. He is here. At my school."
"What school?"
"It's a high school in Springfield"
"Fortunately for you I know which one. And I'm in Springfield for the week. I'll be there soon."
"Ok Garth. I'll let the office know your coming."
I hung up the phone and walked to the office to wait for the lunatic known as Garth. I have heard a lot about him, but never met him in person. Like I know that he is drunk a lot. There is barely a time when he isn't... But he is still considered a family friend/emergency contact.
When he finally did arrive, he was a lot shorter than I imagined. We got him a visitor's pass and we found a janitor's closet. We grabbed some spray paint and I showed him to the auditorium. We saw him sitting in one of the chairs watching some of the students being idiots. Unfortunately... Those idiots were my friends.
"That's him. That's Crowley." I whisper to Garth. "Yea. That's him alright. What he's doing here? I don't know." "He's here for me. I know it." "That would be a good guess. Dean told me about you so I know pretty much what you are." He whispers back.
My friends saw me from the stage and they motioned me t'words them on stage. "There is a door backstage that leads to the bottom of the stage. If you can get a devil's trap on the underside... That would be wonderful. I'll figure the rest out from there." Garth nods and walks to the back entrance of the stage.
I walk to my friends and they pull me on the stage. "What are you guys even doing?" "Random shit. You have to join us. You are one funny mother fucker." Misha says. I look around the room. The class was pretty large. My anxiety was kicking in a little. What? I may be a hunter... But I'm not allowed to have anxieties?
"Thanks. I'm so glad I can help." I say monotonously. The microphones must be on because soon some students start laughing. I feel my cheeks heat up and I instantly become interested in my shoes.
I feel the stage thump a little and muffled, 'Fuck!'s Coming from below. Yup. That's Garth alright.
"What is that thumping?" Jensen asks. I panic a little. "The Children Of The Non-Believers! They've Come To Eat Us All!" I yell. The class laughs and I blush again. And all of a sudden Garth comes bursting through the door. He runs onto the stage.
"God damnit Garth!" I yell at him. He straightens up a little and looks around the room. We see a very pissed off looking Crowley. "Jophiel! Who is this!" "I think you know!" I yell back. They class was trying not to laugh. Great. They thought this was a part of the 'act'.
Crowley storms onto the stage and stands next to Garth. "You need to leave." He says to Garth. Garth looks at me and I motion for him to back up a little so he is in the middle of the stage. He does and Crowley follows. Soon he was inside the devil's trap. Garth runs to my side. Crowley tries to run after him, but he is stuck in his place.
"Damn." He says under his breath. "Smarter than I thought." The class was still watching. "Yea. And I suggest you get out of here or I will kill you." My friends had now taken a seat in the chairs and made that, 'ooo' noise you say when someone get's dissed.
"Well. I am here because of you. Actually. I came to tell you... I can help you. And you need my help. To find your true self. Let me go and I can help you. You could ditch this place and could ditch your family. Be all powerful forever." At this point I didn't care anymore who was listening and watching. All that mattered was that this mother got ganked.
"Garth. Gimme your knife." "What knife?" I face palmed myself. "Of course you don't have one." I turn back to Crowley. "As for you. I will let you go. Cause I don't have my knife. And this, idiot, forgot to mention that he didn't have one." Crowley just laughs. "You wish you could kill me." I roll my eyes and slap him across the face.
"Ooo!" Kids yell out. "Garth. Honestly. Just go tell my Dad's what happend and tell them not to worry. And bring me my damn knife. And yes. You actually have to do this." I whisper to him. I write down the motel's address on his hand, and I start walking to the back stage door.
"Jo! Wait up!" I turn around to see, Jared, Jensen, Misha, Ash, and Samandriel all following me. "Oh great." I say under my breath. "Hey guys. Whatcha... Whatcha doin?" I ask. "Well. We wouldn't want you going off without us! You seemed like you were going on an adventure and we didn't want to miss out." Alfie says.
I just shrug and continue to walk down the long staircase. "What are you even doing?" Jensen asks. I roll my eyes. "Well. One of my Dad's co worker's fucked up. And now I have to be the one to fix it." Once we got to the basement, I dug through my backpack til I found my mini flashlight. I also found my pocket knife and shoved that in my pocket. I swung my backpack over one shoulder, and shined the flashlight at the ceiling.
"What. Are. You doing?" I hear Jared ask. "Stuff. Hey Ash. Hold this." I say tossing my backpack to him. He catches it and I put my flashlight in my mouth once I find and edge of the demon trap.
I open my pocket knife, and start chipping off paint until there was a small gap, allowing any trapped demon a way out.
I close the knife and take the flashlight out of my mouth. "I hope you're happy you piece of shit!" I yell, hoping Crowley could hear me. "Who is she yelling at?" I hear someone whisper. I feel small pinching in my brain. I got that feeling when my Dad read my mind. I send him a quick 'mind message'.
Dad! Screw off! That feels really weird!
Sorry Jophiel. It will not happen again.
Yes it will. Don't lie to me.
When he doesn't respond, I look back over to my friends who were slapping each other. I cross my arms and smirk at them until they all look at me. "Idjits." I say and grab my backpack from Ash, and walk away with them following close behind me.
As the day went on, I got a few text messages from my parents. Just telling me not to worry about Crowley and that I did a good job.
In math class, we were allowed some free time while the teacher went out for a bit. I picked up my things and joined Ben, Alfie, and Jensen in their table group. Unfortunately I had to sit next to Jensen... But whatever. I pulled out my laptop and set it on the table. I didn't go anywhere without it.
I open it up and it instantly goes to some online lore. "Crap." I say under my breath. "What's that?" I hear Jensen say looking over my shoulder. "Nothing." I say quickly and minimizing the screen. Last night Sammy and I were researching some more of the Supernatural. No big deal.
I put my laptop away so there were no further questions. Ben gave me a reassuring look. I pulled out my phone and started a group chat with Alfie, Ben, Jared, Ash, and Misha.
Jo: Hey. Was wondering if you guys were busy this weekend.
Misha: Nope
Alfie: Nah
Ben: Yea. Sorry
Jared: Nope
Ash: Gotta do a group project with Ben. So yea.
Jo: Well there is a Panic! At The Disco concert this weekend. And my Uncle is cool enough to get me tickets.
Alfie: Sweet! Can we go!?
Jared: I love them!
Ash: Damn. Wish I could go.
Ben: Wish I could go. Bring me back a t-shirt though.
Misha: Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jo: Oh my Lanta Misha. And yes you guys can go if it's ok with your folks. Now we should get back to classes. Teacher just walked in. That's all I was wondering though.
I put my phone away and looked back up to a smiling Alfie. "What?" I asked with a smile on my own face. "Can't wait!" He exclaimed. The teacher gave us a weird look, but didn't acknowledge us.
"Can't wait for what?" Jensen asked. "My Uncle got me tickets for a concert and I invited Alfie. By the way Alfie... My Dad seems to really like you. Do you wanna come over after school again today? Ben?" "Can't today. Chuck is going to this convention that I have to be there for." Ben says. "Bring me back some swag. Swag? Since when do I say swag?" I ask questionably.
"Hey Jo? Are we going to work on that Comm thing today?" Jensen asks. "I guess." I say not really wanting to talk to him at all. Come on! I passed out and he just left me there! He didn't even ask if I was ok! You just don't do that to a person.
When class was over, we all walk to the cafeteria, get our lunches, (Dean still of course insisted on making mine) and sit down at our spot. At one point, some jocks came over to us. "Hey girl. Whatcha doin with there losers?" Their leader asks.
"I could ask you the same question." I say turning around and looking at his group. I stand up from my spot and face him. He was a lot taller then I was, but that didn't stop me.
The jocks glared at me. Their leader stepped closer to me but I held my ground. "Hey Assbutt. Why don't you and your little friends all go to Hell!" I yell at him. "Why don't you?" He responds. His friends make that 'ooo' noise. I just roll my eyes.
"I technically can't. But you." I look him up and down. "You are definitely going down there by the looks of it." My friends do the 'ooo' noise. What even is that? I can't technically go to Hell cause I'm a celestial being... So... Yea.
"Prove it!" He yells. (Oh my god all the guys in my class do this and it is soooooo annoying!) "Ok." I say taking out my phone. I am pretty tight with Lucifer, A.K.A. Satan... We cool. He is an Ass at times... But he's alright.
I dial his number and wait for him to pick up.
"Jophi!" He exclaims. He gets really bored really easily.
"Hey Luci. Got someone here that wants to say hey."
I hand the jock my phone.
"H-Hello?" He says.
"Alistair, sir. ... Uh. Who-Who exactly is this?"
He hangs the phone up once he gets his answer. He hands it to me and looks me in the eye. "You all are crazy!" He says and jogs away with his friends. "Tell Abbadon I say hey when you see her!" I yell after him and sit down. The rest of the lunch hour was continued normally.
Finally at the end of the day, I got in my Daddy's car and we drove home. On the drive home, there was some pain in my chest and I started coughing pretty violently. I turned to Dean who was obviously concerned enough to pull the car over.
He got out and opened the passenger door to assist me. I unbuckled my seat belt in the process. "Are you ok Jo?" I nod my head, but my cough said otherwise. "Cas!" He yelled out. My father appeared seconds later. I was to the point where I was coughing up blood.
"Jophiel. What happened?" He asked. "We were driving home and all of a sudden she started coughing up blood." Dean said. The coughing continued, and then I started choking. "There must be a hex-bag planted on her. Search her bag. I'll search the car." Dean said already rummaging through to the glove compartment.
Just as I was about to pass out, Cas found a hex-bag inside my back pack. He throws it to Dean, who lights it on fire. "This has Rowena written all over it." He says once it's burned. "It makes sense. Kill the source before it takes over. I see where she's coming from... But no one tries to kill my daughter." Cas says.
"I'll take her home." Cas says. I was silently sobbing. He wraps large arms around me and teleports us home.
"Go get washed up and then we can do something. Just you and me." I nod and grab some comfier clothes.
I shower, get dressed, do my hair, and go find my Dad. "Where's Daddy?" I ask. "He's going to try to find Rowena. Just to get a little payback." I nod. Dad wraps me in a hug and rubs circles into my back.
"I'm such a wimp." I say into his chest. "No you're not. You were scared. This happened to Dean once and he was just as scared." Sam and Gabe walk in seconds later. "Honey! I'm home! What'd me miss?" Gabe says when he sees us. "Rowena planted a hex-bag on her. Don't know how though." I walk over to Gabe. "We are still going to the concert though? Right?" He nods and I give a half smile.
"Great. Cause I invited some friends and they love Panic! At The Disco." "Oh joy." He says sarcastically. "But seriously. Are you ok?" He asks and I nod my head. Once Dean got back to the motel, he swept me off my feet, and held me bridal style as he spun me around the room.
"Well shit. You scared me Cherry Pie." He said holding my head into the crook of his neck. He sets me down on the floor again and I walk over to Dad. "I'm going to go get something for dinner." Dean says. He then leaves to motel leaving Cas, Sam, Gabe, and I still there bored as Hell.
"Dad!" I exclaimed out of no where. "Jophiel!" Cas responded. Gabe and Sam were just sitting at the table being borings. That's right. I said borings.
I put on some my Fall Out Boy album and started jamming like the lunatic I was. Completely forgetting today's earlier events.
I took my Dad's hand and pulled him to his feet. "I don't know how to dance." He said blandly. "Too bad. You're dancing with me." I said smiling. He knew that he wouldn't win this one so he started dancing horribly. I couldn't stop laughing. When Fourth Of July came on, I was just laughing so much my stomach hurt. Gabe and Sam were dancing like idiots as well. "I think were having to much fun." I said. "This is supposed to be fun?" Cas asked. "Oh lighten up little bro. Get that stick out of your Ass already." Gabe said shaking Cas's shoulders slightly. "What stick?" He said, stopping in the middle of the song, and cocking his head like he does so well.
Gabe just rolls his eye and threw me over his shoulder. He spun me around the room while I laughed.
"It was the fourth of July
You and I were, you and I were fire, fire, fireworks
That went off too soon
And I miss you in the June gloom, too
It was the fourth of July
You and I were, you and I were fire, fire, fireworks
I said I'd never miss you
But I guess you never know
May the bridges I have burned light my way back home
On the fourth of July"
We all sang/yelled the last verse. It was great. The next song — Novocaine —played next. Gabe set me down on a bed. Dean walked in with bags of food. He set them on a table and jumped on top of the bed I was on, careful not to jump on my head. I was still laughing.
I guess it was going to be one of those nights. The nights that we get so crazy we stay up all night and just have a mini party. Sam was already setting up bowls of junk food. And salad for his moose self. ;)
We all ate, danced, sang along to the lame songs, and just had a good time all night. I wonder how wreaked I was going to be in the morning. Eh. Whatever. I love not giving a crap about things!
Later on after our little party, we all sat down on the beds and watched movies. They were the crap movies that were too funny to get rid of. Except the classics. We had those too.
When we were finally going to pass out, it was almost three o'clock in the morning. No one went to bed in an actual bed except me. They kinda collapsed on the floor. The weirdos.
Three hours later, it was about six o'clock. I had an hour before school. I trudged my way to the bathroom and took a shower. I got dressed into black high waisted skinny jeans, black wedge sneakers cause I'm short, and long gray and white shirt. I put my hair into a side part and did a side braid. With the different colors it looked really cool.
I stepped out of the bathroom, woke the parentals up, and ate some left over junk food that was still on the table.
While the adults ate, I got ready for school, making sure I had my knife with me. As I waited for one of them to drive me to school, I took out my phone and turned my eye glowy things on and off. I had to admit... It was pretty cool.
