chapter 9
The increasingly loud sound of rain drops hitting the windows made it almost impossible for Guinevere to zone out in class. The tapping kept pounding in her head as Professor McGonagall continued in the front of the room.
The winter season had faded and now Hogwarts was experiencing the rainstorms of spring. Guinevere had always loved stomping in the rain with Olive when she was young, but today she was dreading it. Transfiguration was easy for Guinevere, it always had been even this year at the N.E.W.T level. However paying attention wasn't her strong suit, she much preferred zoning off into another world, far far away from all her troubles. But the stupid rain had to ruin her day.
Lily was trying to take notes as McGonagall was speaking, but found herself distracted at her friend udder distaste in participating or paying attention. Her quill was charmed to take notes for her, while Gwen just started out the window. It annoyed Lily to no end, but somehow Guinevere always picked it up. Lily would spend her days studying and practicing, while all Guinevere had to do was flick her wand and poof she perfected it. Guinevere never felt smart, but Lily never ceased to remind her of her natural ability. Spells were easy, reading however was a downfall of Guinevere's. Her brain just scanned the words and then floated off to other matters. If Guinevere wasn't so good at spells, she would surely be failing most of her classes. But alas her wand treated her well, or at least that's what Dumbledore always told her.
After class Lily had rushed off to go work on something, leaving Guinevere bored as all hell. Her classes her done for the day and she was pretty much roaming the halls. As she was walking, she felt someone grab her arm, pulling in back into a room.
Before she could protest, a finger was pressed against her lips, dragging down to her chin. Guinevere took a sharp breath as a hand wrapped around her hip.
"Care for business exchange?" Sirius grinned, tucking his hair behind his ear.
His hand gently placed on her jaw, his fingers running across her face. Guinevere grabbed the front of his shirt and swiftly placed her lips on his.

Guinevere shifted her way out of the room and back into the corridor she was in before. She didn't quite know where else to go, so she found herself stepping into the library. Of course she never spent much time there, so she wandered looking at all the old books. One book in particular she was looking for, a book on non-verbal spells. Guinevere was a in a N.E.W.T level charms class, after earning an O on her owls. She looked in the place where her book was supposed to be, but instead was greeted by an empty slot. Guinevere didn't exactly intend on reading it, but she figured she might as well look.
Guinevere quickly eyed around the bookcase. As she peeked around she saw a tall boy walking towards a chair with the book and several others in hand.
"Excuse me!" Guinevere called walking over.
"Yeah?" The figure turned around.
"Oh you're..." Guinevere looked at the boy.
"Remus Lupin" He nodded.
"Yeah, I'm friends with Lily" Guinevere added.
"Can I help you?" He looked at her with a strange glint in his eyes.
"That book" Guinevere pointed,"I was wondering if I could borrow it"
"You read?" He raised an eyebrow.
Guinevere was slightly taken aback by his comment, but then she remembered who he was friends with,"Honestly, no. But I need it for my class"
Remus looked surprised at her honesty,"I suppose" he held out the book reluctantly.
"Thanks" Guinevere half smiled.
Just as she was about to turn away Remus looked at her,"You're really not as bitchy as people make you out to be"
"I would say thank you, but you haven't seen me on a bad day" Guinevere teased.
"Ah the classic Slytherin" Remus chuckled,"Wanna sit?" He motioned to the chair next his.
"I suppose I can spare a minute" Guinevere sat.
"So Guinevere Avalon, princess of Slytherin house, do tell me what you're doing in the library," Remus looked at the book,"Because it's certainly not just for that old thing"
"You really are as smart as they say Remus," Guinevere said coolly,"I figured no one would find me here"
"Escaping someone?" Remus questioned.
"Not particularly" Guinevere shrugged,"But I must ask, why did you invite me to sit?"
"No particular reason" Remus respond flatly,"I like to see the best in people and I'm starting to believe not everything people say about you is true"
"People can be cruel" Guinevere chuckled in spite of herself,"Its what we believe that makes us who we are, not what we hear"
"Very wise Avalon, very wise"
"I also should add, that you aren't nearly as boring as most people in this library" Guinevere digressed.
"I believe my friends beg to differ" Remus chuckled.
"They sound questionable" Guinevere looked at him.
"Questionable maybe, but family nonetheless" Remus nodded.
"They are lucky to have you Lupin" Guinevere smiled.
"Id like to think so" Remus bit his cheek.
"And for that reason, I think it would be better off if you left this conversation in the library" Guinevere sighed lightheartedly ,"You're friends and I aren't exactly best mates"
"Really? I would have never guessed" Remus mocked.
"Ah but it's true" Guinevere stood up,"I wouldn't want you getting in trouble for me, even if I am a princess"
Remus just chuckled standing up as well.
"By the way, I must complement you on your lipstick" Remus added,"Never thought I'd see a Slytherin wearing Gryffindor red"
"I never have been a rule follower Remus, I'm full of surprises" Guinevere winked.
"Bye Guinevere" Remus half smiled.
Guinevere just smiled and walked out.
"That was surprisingly bearable" she thought to herself. She never thought a guy like Sirius would befriend someone with actual intellect like Remus. Capable of mature conversation. But maybe as she had said before about herself, Sirius was full of surprises.
