chapter 7
Guinevere whipped around when she heard the voice come from behind. Her expression hard, ready to pounce.Things were about to go south with Clarke and even though Guinevere wouldn't admit it, she was glad someone had overheard. That arse had no escape. But she didn't need help. Guinevere had always been able to handle herself and today was no exception.
"Oh and who are you?" Clarke stood up puffing his chest, slyly reaching for his wand.
"Not someone you want to mess with" Sirius stepped forward reaching for his own.
"I can handle this myself Sirius" Guinevere faced Sirius rage bubbling up inside her.
"Can you? Based on what's happening I don't think you can" He looked at her, then back to Clarke.
"Oh really?" Guinevere crossed her arms, fire in her eyes.
"Yes really, now let me get rid of him"
"Watch me" She spit fire with every word.
As Sirius watched, Guinevere turned and faced Clarke.
"Looks like my Douche bag theory was correct" She spat, swinging back and sucker punching him square in the nose.
Clarke stumbled back holding his now bloodied nose, while Guinevere smirked proudly as her knuckles throbbed. Sirius looked shocked as Guinevere shot a hex at him as he ran out. The girl had a smug grin on her face as she turned back around.
"I can handle it myself" She put her finger on his chest pushing him back.,"I'm not a damsel in distress Black"
"I believe the words you are looking for are thank you" Sirius protested.
"Thank you Guinevere" She patted herself on the back,"Besides what are you doing here?"
"I'm with James, he went to buy Lily a gift, so I opted for a drink." He shrugged holding up his glass.
Guinevere exhausted from her day grabbed the glass out of his hand and downing it in one gulp.
"Fire whiskey, much more my style" She looked at the glass then at Sirius.
"So I've heard" He looked sadly at his empty glass,"I paid for that you know"
Guinevere just patted him on the back,"You'll live" and headed for the door.
Quickly she disappeared back into the crowded streets. Sirius just shook his head trying not to chuckle as he ordered another drink.
Guinevere walked back out into the shops of Diagon Alley with the intent of buying an owl. Guinevere finally found the store and made her way in.
All the different pets allowed at Hogwarts lined the wall as she walked around the shop. There were many owls to choose from but Guinevere kept finding herself in front of a medium sized pitch black owl. The owl had big green eyes and was the only one not flapping it's wings and cooing. Instead this owl just stared intently back at her.
"I'll take this one" Guinevere called to the counter.
A man came over and picked up the cage, bringing it to the register.
Guinevere paid for her owl and smiled as the owl looked back at her.
"He got a name?" The man asked.
"Prince" Guinevere picked up the cage and waved goodbye.
Guinevere walked all the way back to the leaky cauldron carrying her owl. Prince just sat calmly in his cage and cooed when ever she looked at him
"Who's a good boy?" She smiled.
Finally she reached her destination and brought him inside. As she walked it she remembered something. Lily's book. She left it in the pub. So instead of walking upstairs she gave Prince to a witch to bring to her room. Guinevere walked into the bar area and searched around for the bag she left earlier. She had no luck at the table she had sat at before and continued to look.
With no book in sight, Guinevere took her search outside. Hoping someone just threw it or made its way outside. The Alley next to the pub was covered with snow and not a soul was back there. Guinevere quickly shuffled through the snow searching for any sign of the book.
"What's a girl like you doing back here?" A voice snuck up behind her.
"What's it to you?" She spun around and was face to face with Sirius.
"Just checking up on you Blondie" He smirked.
"Shove off" She waved him off turning back to her search.
Sirius watched with amusement as she continued to look.
"Looking for something?" He leaned up against the wall.
"None of your business"
"What if I've seen it? I could help ya know" He prodded.
"I don't need your help" Guinevere rolled her eyes.
"Well I guess you don't want your book back then" He sighed taking a few steps away.
"You took my book?" Guinevere crossed her arms in annoyance.
"More like you left it" He shrugged shaking the book in front of her.
"Hand it over" Guinevere held out her hand.
"And what if I don't want to?" He teased.
"Give it!" She walked over.
Sirius just grinned and pulled the small book out of his coat.
"Come and get it Blondie."
Guinevere walked over and attempted to grab it, but as she neared Sirius he lifted his arm and the book above his head. While Guinevere was tall for a girl, Sirius was taller still, and towered the book above her head.
"Sirius give the damn book!" She reached jumping for it, but Sirius jogged away.
Getting more annoyed by the second Guinevere chased after him, muttering curses as she went.
"So slow, you can do better Blondie" He ran backwards taunting her.
"You're a pest" She growled picking up herself speed gaining on him.
Sirius continued to run around Diagon Alley waving the book over his head, while Guinevere raced behind angrily. Finally she was gaining on him and he was just out of reach.
"For merlins sake stop bloody running Black!" She shouted.
"As you wish" He replied, immediately coming to a complete stop. Guinevere however had picked up so much speed, she couldn't stop herself and ended up running into him and toppling both teens over.
Both hit the ground earning a quick groan from Guinevere as she laid on the snowy ground. She had her eyes closed for a moment but soon opened them to find Sirius quite literally on top of her.
"Merlin Blondie if you wanted me on you, you should have just said so" He smirked, "I'd be more than happy to oblige."
"I hate you" She groaned but found herself not moving.
"The feelings mutual" He winked.
The teens sat there, both not making an effort to move even though insult were being sent each way, his legs still straddling hers.
"You still want your book?" He asked.
"Yes" Guinevere scoffed.
"And that's all you want" He got closer to her face raising an eyebrow, his hot breath meeting hers.
"Yes" She glared shoving him to the side and onto the ground next to her. She quickly got up brushing herself off, taking the book from Sirius's hands. Then walking off.
"Hey Blondie wait!" He called after her.
Not turning around she kept walking.
Sirius caught up with her and pulled her into an empty alley next to one of the shops.
Just as she was about to scold him, he slowly stepped towards her, backing Guinevere up against the wall.
"Sirius" She looked at him, lips pursed.
He just looked back and grazed his lips onto hers. The smell of spearmint hair gel engulfing Guinevere as she pulled him closer. Their lips moving in perfect sync.
"Listen, I have preposition for you" Guinevere pulled back slightly, still inches apart.
"I'm listening" His grey eyes gazed back at her as he tucker a piece of her blonde hair behind her ear.
"No feelings" Guinevere stated,"Just this, whatever this is" She put her hand on his warm chest.
"So basically you want to fuck me with no strings attached" Sirius grinned.
"I guess that's a way to put it" She restrained her laugh.
"So I can pull you aside and kiss you whenever i feel like it?" He got closer.
"As long as no one sees" Guinevere whispered,"Because we still hate each other"
"Mhm" He pressed his lips to hers once again, his tongue creeping into her mouth.
He kissed her and the world fell away. It was slow and soft, comforting in ways that words would never be. His hand rested below her ear, his thumb caressing her cheek as their breaths mingled. She ran her fingers behind his neck, pulling him closer until there was no space left between them and she could feel the beating of his heart against her chest.
"Pleasure doing business with you" Guinevere pulled away and walked out of the alleyway leaving Sirius with nothing but the last glimpse of her blonde hair as she turned the corner.
