chapter 11
Remus hadn't said a word about his suspicions to anyone since the red lipstick incident. But Remus was surprised to say the least of his suspicions. Sirius Black and Guinevere Avalon despised each other since first year. So different, yet the practically the same. Like light and dark, both needed for the other to exist. The fine line between the two so faded it's hard to which is which. Remus refused to be the person that let out or ruined whatever was going on between the two. It could scare them off from getting along, in the back of his mind he always knew the two couldn't truly hate each other. They were too alike.
But when it came down to it, the defining reason Remus didn't tell a soul, it was that he truly had no idea what was going on between the two. A lipstick mark wasn't exactly a tell-all. He would confront them when the time was right but for now, he would let them have their fun or whatever else they were doing in secret.
"Morning Moony" Sirius slid onto the bench beside him.
"Padfoot" Remus nodded taking a bite of toast and looking down at his textbook to continue reading.
Sirius, bored by the lack of attention he was receiving decided to get some.
"Hey Prongs look at me" Sirius suddenly grabbed a goblet of milk tossing it from hand to hand, balancing it.
James respond by jokingly tipping the goblet away, but much to the surprise of both boys, James hit the goblet way too hard. Sending the goblet flying down the table and crashing, spilling the white liquid all over the table, papers and one blonde Slytherin.
"Merlin!" Guinevere yelled standing up, milk dripping down her robes, while Lily cursed picking up her now milk drenched papers, drying them with a scowl.
"You are single handedly the most annoying person on the planet" Guinevere glared towards Sirius and stomped out of the Great Hall, milk footprints trailing behind her.
"What she even doing at our table?" Peter asked quietly to Remus.
"Best not ask mate" Remus whispered back.
James was getting a scolding from Lily about his childish behavior with the goblet, but Sirius just sat there for a moment taking the events that just took place before turning to his friends.
"She didn't call me an arrogant prat" Sirius furrowed his brows,"That's a first"
"She did call you the most annoying person on the plant" Peter chipped in,"Id say that's something"
"Very true Wormtail" Sirius put his head in his hands,"Whatever I guess"
"Remind me not to get spill milk on Lily's homework ever again" James laid his head on the table.
"Don't ever spill milk on Lily's homework again" The three boys chorused in unison.
"Merlin, not now you gits" James sighed, while the three chucked.
Guinevere left the Great Hall to go shower as fast as possible. Sure she could use a simple drying spell, but that wouldn't get rid of the milk smell which Guinevere loathed. She had 20 minutes until breakfast was over and classes began, so walking to the common room wasn't exactly an option, running however was her best bet. Once she reached the door she said the password and immediately ran to the showers. Showering wasn't exactly what took the longest. Guinevere also had to redo her hair and makeup. But as she finished drying her hair, she realized that she wasn't at home anymore. She didn't need to look perfect for anyone not her mother, not her sister, not anyone. Guinevere took what was considered a big step for her, she left the common room without a drop of makeup, except her red lips. The odd feeling however was she never had felt more like herself.
Slightly more conscious of her appearance than usual, Guinevere walked to class with minutes to spare. She had Defense against the Dark Arts first, with Gryffindor. Guinevere was able to make it in time and snag a spot beside Lily before Severus or James had the chance.
"Guinevere?" Lily was looking her over inspecting the blonde.
"At your service" She replied taking out her book.
"You've got freckles?" Remus slid in beside her, raising an eyebrow.
"Guys chill," Guinevere sighed,"I just didn't put makeup on after today's... incident."
Remus and Lily both exchanged looks, almost saying 'Is she feeling alright?'
"No, I'm not sick" Guinevere rolled her eyes,"I just figured, what's the point? I don't have to please anyone but myself"
"Attention!"
"Talk later detectives" Guinevere smiled professor as the teacher began class.
Sirius, James and Peter were sitting towards the back, watching the scene before them unfold. But Sirius only had one observation running through his mind.
"I didn't know she had freckles" Sirius cocked his head like a confused puppy.
"Why do you care mate?" James slumped back, watching Lily as attentively listened to the Professor.
"I don't, just an observation" Sirius deflected, sliding his hair back.
"She looks nice" Peter nodded in agreement.
Sirius grew a little more ridged than usual, shifting in his seat,"Shut it Wormtail"
"Oi mate just because you two practically hate each other doesn't mean others do," James sat up,"Just look at Remus, it seems the two of them have been getting along nicely lately."
"Perhaps they fancy each other" Peter shrugged looking at the two.
Sirius just about choked on his own spit at that statement, sitting up. The whole class proceeded to turn and face the three boys responsible for the noise. Lily and Guinevere tried to hold back their laughs, while Remus was chuckling aloud.
"Nice one Pads" James padded his back as the attention was refocused to the front of the room.
"Glad you found it amusing" Sirius mumbled, slumping back down into his seat, but yet he still found his eyes traveling to the blonde in front of him.
