Coming Out

Come Out of the Closet: To publicly announce a belief or preference that one has kept hidden, especially one's sexual preference

"I have something to tell you," Greg said. He took a deep breath. He looked his moms' anxious faces.

"What is it sweetie? Is something wrong?" His mama asked.

"There's something I've been meaning to tell you. Please don't freak out, I'm still Greg, I'm still your son."

"Of course you're our son. What happened?" His mom asked.

"I'm heterosexual. I like girls."

"You're straight?" His mama gasped.

"Sweetie," his mom said placing a hand on his shoulder. "You're only sixteen, it's normal to feel a little confused at your age, but you don't need to be putting yourself in boxes like this. I know me and your mama and your sister are all attracted to girls, but you're a boy. I know you played with Cassidy's barbies when you were little but that doesn't mean you-"

"Mom I know I'm a boy I just like girls."

"If it's about those songs that have been playing on the radio lately-"

"No, Mama, Mom this is me! I'm straight! I've been feeling like this for a very long time, I've never been attracted to boys."

"Have you tried, not being attracted to girls?"

"Yes! I have actually! Have you? It's kind of impossible?"

"Greg we just want you to be happy!"

"I AM HAPPY!" He yelled storming out of the room.
