An unpleasant re-occurance
PruCan. Could be considered sad.
A boy of about 18 entered a room, it was oddly familiar and he felt... Confused. He skimmed the room and found that on the bed sat his best friend Gilbert, who looked at him then smiled. "Oh hey Matt! What are you doing here? Is it Christmas already?" Matt nodded in response. "Sweet!" Gilbert cheered. "Well come sit with the awesome me then! I picked out the awesomest movie ever! Your favourite, The Polar Express!" Matt smiled. "Awesome. " Gilbert laughed and waved him to come sit with him once again. Matt crawled onto the bed and cuddled up to Gilbert.
"Its been a while." Gil whispered. Well it was whispering for Gilbert, which wasn't really whispering at all. Matt smiled sadly. "Another year. Welcome back." "For the night." "Yeah." Matt frowned. "Hey." Gilbert tilted his face towards his own some more. "Don't look so down Birdie. I'm right here." Matt shook his head "Stop. You're just going to leave me again." Gilbert frowned. "But Matt I-" "No. Please Gilbert." Gilbert nodded. "I'll stay this time then." Matt furrowed his brows. "We both know you can't do that." Matthew allowed a few tears to escape his violet eyes.
"Well I can damn well try!" Gilbert exclaimed. "N-no, you don't understand. I-I'm finally-" Gilbert cut in. "Don't you dare say it. Look, Birdie, I know it's been hard with me gone so much but can't we just be happy tonight?" Matt suddenly got angry. "No! I haven't seen you for 5 years and-" "That's a lie if I ever heard one! I was here last Christmas!" "Once a year does not count, Gilbert! So what, you can just come home once a year and be okay with that? You have no idea what I've been doing!" "I trust you."
Those words stung. He didn't want to hear that coming from his lips. "Well stop." "Why?" Matt was freely crying now. "Because I said so! And Why am I in your house? You're never even in your own damn house! Are you listening to me Gilbert! Pay attention when I'm talking." "I can't" Gilbert defended. "And why not?" Glared Matthew. "Because you're hot when you're mad." Gilbert smirked. Oh for gods sake, thought Matthew. "Gilbert, go back. And let me go home." "Why don't you come with this time?"
"That is the stupidest... Maple, Gil." "What?" "I can't go." "I know." "Then why'd you ask?" "Because I miss you." Gilbert replied sadly. "Miss me somewhere else then! I don't have time for this! I need... I need you to go back. This is really starting to be a bother to me, Gil." Gilbert looked down sadly. "I know Matt. But I just want you to know that I'm fine. I see you everyday but you can't see me except for on Christmas." "I know that Gil. I am painfully aware, thank you."
"So... You really want me not to come back." "Well I already know that you're not really here anyways so yeah." "Right. I am sorry Birdie. I love you." "I love you too Gilbert. I'll see you soon enough." "I guess so." They smiled at each other and shared a brief kiss before Gilbert got up and left the room for Matt to cry alone.
Matt let a few tears slip but he knew that this was bound to happen. Honestly seeing Gilbert just made things worse for him. HE knew he wasn't real. He couldn't be. No, because Gilbert Beilschmidt, Matthews best friend. His soul mate, his everything, died five years ago in a car crash on Christmas morning on his way over to his house to spend the day together. And now every year he came into his dreams on Christmas just to make sure he was okay and-
faintly, on the other side of the door he heard Gilbert's voice. "Merry Christmas Birdie." "Merry Christmas Gil."
