Chapter 35: New Twist to an Old Classic

Come on Britty!
Stop it already!

Doing presentations in front of your class has always been one of those forbidden topics that you'd gladly roll over and die about; its on its very own level of 'pant staining' that if it was in a haunted house, It'd be the scariest room there!

Vladimir: whispering and nudging Arthur
Lighten up a bit on ____, would ya?

Arthur: digging his nails into his palm cards
That bloody twit doesn't even know what to do.

Lukas: monotoned
She has her own problems too now; just give her the job of reading the cards.

Arthur: twitching
But she can't even carry out a normal conversation without making awkward noises and butchering my mother language!

Vladimir: hushing Arthur
Quiet, there already is a group up presenting... What are you talking about? English is her native tongue as well.

You: attempting to chime in
Ahh--eh... You-you know I'm r-right here?

Arthur: rolling his eyes at you
No kidding, we all already knew that your sleazy face was here.
Bloody attention who--

Vladimir: cutting Arthur off
Don't finish that sentence...

Lukas: putting a poster on Arthur's desk
We aren't afraid of failing this assignment, we can always fix our grades later, but we aren't going to stand for you disrespecting her.

It was as if smoke was exiting through every possible exit on Arthur's face, his blood was boiling. No one makes a fool out of Arthur, but maybe only he can make the true fool out of himself. Something unusual caught your attention; Mr Jarz seemed like he was actually caring about his job and sounded respectful as he spoke on the classroom phone... Mr Germainia or someone important must have been on the other side. The group that was presenting had to be stopped halfway though their presentation and wait for Mr Jarz to continue marking them after the unexpected interruption.

Mr Jarz: seeming a little out of character
Roderich, Berwald and ____ are requested by Mr Germania to be at his office now please.

Gilbert stood up from his seat, but was soon instructed to sit back down.

Mr Jarz: opening up the door for you three
Not you Gilbert, he didn't request you.

Gilbert: watching you three leave
But-but...

And just like that the three of you all vanished from the classroom and into the hallway, slowly pacing towards something you could only imagine that is going to end badly.
I guess he didn't need the whole day to think of your punishment; maybe it didn't take him long to realise that expulsion was the only way to go, especially after the uproar in chemistry earlier this morning.

...

Much to everyone's surprise, the Swiss boy from earlier was in the office as well; the four of you all were seated as you listened to Mr Germania.

Mr Germania: looking at you
I'm not expelling you; I've wasted too much money and time on you, so you'll still stay here as planned.

Mr Germania: leaning up against his desk and looking at Berwald
Your no longer given the job of looking after Miss (last name); you can leave now Oxenstierna.

THAT WAS BLUNT!
Poor Berwald has really been getting the short end of the stick a lot today.

The emotionless Swede took his leave in silence and trudged his way out of the room, hopefully back to class as he's been instructed.

Mr Germania: crossing his arms and watching the door shut
Roderich, Basch; your both now her 'caretakers' and this will go towards extra credit on your diplomas once you've both graduated. The three of you both are to move out of your current dorms and while be moved to a three bedroom apartment on a remote part of the island; no one else is to know about the location of this building. There is an underground subway type form of transportation that will get you to the dorm and school within under 60 seconds; any objections?

Roderich: raising his hand
Vhy are jou moving us away from campus?

Mr Germania: narrowing his eyes
In case no other 'sleepovers' occur between 'students'.

But putting a girl in an apartment with two boys on the opposite side of the island, ALL ALONE.... is a better idea?

Basch: speaking up
How do you know we won't end up frequently getting into fights?

Mr Germania: picking up a picture off his desk
As I recall, you and Roderich were close friends when younger... And ____ isn't hard to get along with, she spends most of her time in her own solitude, isn't that right?

OHHHH HE GOT CHA!
As far as your personality goes once you've became accustomed to someone, your a rather laid back individual and rarely get into arguments.

Basch: glaring at Roderich
But we don't have much to do with each other any more!

Mr Germania: placing the picture back on his desk
Well now you do, after all, you'll be living under the same roof for quite awhile now.

Mr Germania: stopped leaning against the desk
Hmm... Oh yes! You all have been excused from class for the rest of the day and have until 4 pm this afternoon to have all your belongs packed. Meet me at the courtyard fountain exactly at 4 pm so I can show you all the way to get to your new home; remember not to tell or show anyone about this. You three are the only ones that know, not even my grandsons know.

...

Your dorm door was wide open, airing out the room as you calmly packed away your belongings; in all honesty you weren't too worried about this, but it's gonna feel weird not having Berwald welcome you almost every morning and walking with you to breakfast. That doesn't mean you can't have breakfast with him though, it's not like everything is gonna change. Roderich is a nice guy and you kinda know him a fair bit, but Basch is more of a mystery, however he did stand up for you today... He can't be all that bad.

Arthur: storming into your dorm
Where were you!?!

You turned around from slight shock to seeing that Arthur was standing in your doorway, fuming like usual and still full of boiling blood.

You: focusing back on packing
... Packin'...

Arthur: voice cracking
W-what?

A soft nod of your head was all you responded back with, trying to remain focused on the task at hand. He didn't seem content with your answer and walked over beside you, where you had a suitcase on your bed and a pile of clothes that you were folding up and placing into the suitcase. In a desperate attempt to keep you from finishing packing and leaving, Arthur slowly took one item out at a time and gently placed it on the bed.

Arthur: lifting something out of your suitcase
Do you really want to leave?

You: folding up a shirt
The offer seems interesting.

Arthur: continuing on with his pattern
What about your future? Are you just going to throw away your life's ambitions?

You: placing the folded up shirt in the suitcase
What does that have to do with this anyway?

Arthur: becoming irritated
It has EVERYTHING to do with this ____!
Are you leaving because I've been mean to you all of a sudden!?!
I won't do it anymore! It hurts me too!

You: looking at him in confusion
What are you ta---
Hey!? Are you crying?

Arthur: turning away from you and rubbing his eyes
I'M BRITISH! I DON'T CRY!

WHAT TO DO!? WHAT TO DO!?
Do you just shove candy in his face like a crying child?
Ice cream!?
A puppy!?
Anime!?

You hesitated as you opened up your arms and wrapped them around Arthur, feeling his body stiffen the moment he was wrapped up in your hug.

Awkward!

Arthur: embarrassed tone
W-What are you doing?

You: frozen
Not entirely sure myself; I think I'm attempting to comfort you?

Arthur: stopped tearing up
Please let go love, this is uncomfortable.

You: quickly letting
Got it!

Arthur: clearing his throat and attempting to fix the awkward atmosphere
So I guess this is the reason why Berwald seemed so disheartened when he arrived back to class.

You: sadly looking at Arthur
He was sad?

Arthur: raising an eyebrow at you
Of course he was, your leaving the island after all! Everyone will be sad!

You: finally catching on
OH! No, no, no!
I'm not leaving!
I'm just going to a different dorm!

Arthur: twitching his eye
Oh.... WELL YOU COULD HAVE EXPLAINED THAT A FEW MINUTES AGO!
.... Then why was Berwald so sad then?

You: rubbing your arm
Mr Germania told Berwald that he doesn't want him to be my 'caretaker' or whatever he is to me, but that doesn't mean he's no longer my friend... I guess maybe he liked that job or he was getting extra credit for it or somethin'.

Arthur: one of his eyebrows twitching
You don't possibly think there is a different reason why he likes spending so much time around you?

You: shrugging
I don't know..... Status?

Arthur: sighing and face palming
Just as daft as the bloody American....

Arthur: looking up at you
So who is it now?

You: remembering your time limit and getting back to work
Roderich and Basch.
I gotta get back to packing Arthur, see you at dinner.

And just like that Arthur left, but with unanswered questions.

...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but...
Mr Germania did say that we were moving into an apartment and not a mansion right?
WHAT THE ACTUAL KINDER-EGG SURPRISE ARE WE DOING IN THIS BUILDING!
GET ME OUTTA HERE BEFORE I BREAK A VASE OR SOMETHING AND END UP NEEDED TO WORK FOR SOME RICH KIDS TO PAY IT OFF!
It's bigger than your family's house and yard combined!
PLUS THAT 360 OCEAN VIEW IS OUTTA THIS WORLD!
HOLY MOTHER OF BEETHOVEN!
A GRAND SPANKING NEW GRAND PIANO!

Basch: pointing at you from the other side of the room
Does she have a drooling problem?

You snapped out of your daze and wiped the drool away from your face; salivating over a house and a piano... Smooth, real smooth.
Like everyone else, each of your rooms were marked with your names; the rooms were all identical, but yours was the furthest away from the main living area of the 'apartment'. A basic white room that was on a corner of the building, which meant you had the best view of the ocean and two windows that acted like walls, allowing in so much natural sunlight and a fresh ocean breeze when the sliding doors where left open. Your 90 degree balcony was just the perfect touch to the room; there was a queen sized bed and the wall it was placed up against was a feature wall made from weaved wood, giving the room a unique touch. You had your own bathroom again, except this time a spa was included and you had a walk in wardrobe instead of an old draws. Nothing about this building was outdated, the living room was also full of movies, game consoles and a karaoke machine; there was a pool on the roof along with a zen garden, 24/7 access to the beach, a functioning kitchen and that BEAUTIFUL PIANO from earlier that needs to be mention twice because it was just that bae!
The odd thing is though, why is this building existing here? Was it new or a house that the principal lived in?

Nahhh...
Let's not think about that right now!
TIME TO UNPACK AND LIVE UP THIS LUXURY!
... Remember that dinner is in approximately 1 and a half hours, so no telling anyone about this place!

==================================================================================

Big thanks to nekoDylan-chan, for suggesting to use Switzerland and Austria; I was struggling to think of some characters that had a pre-existing history to use and then when this combination came up, it took me a little to remember, but they were once close friends that grew apart as they became older nations. So now I have a chance to refurbish a broken friendship, while not interfering with the story plot and make them both have a fair bit of interaction with the reader.
If anyone has any characters they'd like to see more of, be introduced or even situations, I'd gladly attempt to incorporate them in; however if I can't and it will alter the story plot somehow, please
don't take any offence if they don't make an appearance.

Thank you for reading!

(Dat Piano! WHY CAN'T A GRAND PIANO JUST RANDOMLY SHOW UP ON MY DOORSTEP ONE MORNING!?!)
P.S. I was so tempted to name this chapter 'Dat Piano!' XD
But the chapter's name it is now doesn't even make sense though :P
