America x Reader

You sat down at the world conference next to China and sighed. Nothing ever got done and everything always ended up in a huge mess.
America hit a pencil against his glass, telling everyone to pay attention because the meeting was starting.
"Listen up! We all know why we're here today. We're having another problem with global warming. In fact, it's worse than the first time." He shouted.
'Look at Alfred', you thought, 'He's actually being productive for once.'
"Who in the bloody hell put you in charge?" England asked him.
"I did! Duh, because I'm the hero." Was all his response was.
'Yeah right,' you thought.

~~~~TIME SKIP~~~~
Alfred had decided to walk you home from the meeting. Originally, you turned down his offer, but he insisted because 'That's what heroes do.'
You were walking slowly between Henry Avenue and Prairie Street when you suddenly sniffed the air.
Your eyes widened, "Is something burning?"
Alfred must've noticed it too because his head was darting back and forth, looking for the source.
Eventually, you two both spotted a house in the distance that was on fire. Alfred grabbed your hand and quickly dragged you to the house.
You both stopped at the entrance and Alfred let go of your hand. He looked at you and gave you a quick peck on the cheek, causing your face to turn a deep crimson. He smiled and darted into the building.
"Alfred!" You shouted as he bust through the front door and disappeared into the flames.
Alfred's POV:
I crashed through the door and the small pieces of wood fell to the floor. I ran through the fire and smoke and then, a loud yell pounded against my eardrums.
There's someone in here. By the yell, I could tell it was a small child, most likely a girl.
I sprinted through the house, looking for the kid. The smoke was dark black and each time I took a breath, it infected my lungs, causing me to cough and wheeze. It touched my eyes and caused them to water.
The embers of the building were falling all around me like rain. They burned through my jacket and left small holes.
It was amazingly hot. Most people are around fires and are warm, but this was blazing hot. I thought about taking off my jacket, but the thought faded, knowing that if I took it off, it would probably cause the embers to tear through my shirt and burn my skin.
The yelling continued as I burst through doors and ran through hallways. I couldn't imagine how horrified the kid was.
Finally, I kicked down a door near the end of a hallway. There was a girl who looked about eight years old, huddled in the corner, surrounded by chunks of burning wood. She held her head in her hands and was crying, but when she saw me, she looked up and was surprised.
"Don't worry, I'll get you out." I assured her.
She smiled at me as I ran towards the pile of flames that surrounded her.
I pulled my jacket sleeves over my hands and started lifting the wood. I could feel the heat almost burning my hands. My jacket almost caught fire, but I finally managed to toss all of the wood out of the way.
The girl ran out and embraced me in a huge hug. I pet her head and pulled her off.
"You can thank me later. I need to get you out of here." I said and she nodded.
I looked around and found a window. I grabbed a piece of the wood and threw it at the glass, watching it as it shattered and fell to the ground.
I grabbed the girl from under her arms and hoisted her out of the window and carefully placed her on the ground outside.
I could see the fire department arriving on the other side of the street, I assumed (y/n) had called them.
"Are you alright? Are you cut?" I asked the girl.
"No." She shook her head.
"Good." I replied, "Now go, run for safety."
I started to look around the rest of the house for other people, but there were none to be found. I was headed for the door as I heard a crack above my head and the ceiling beams fell on top of me.
I wiggled and struggled, but no matter what I did, I couldn't seem to get free.
"(y/n)!" I screamed.
I could hear the fire department enter the door a few feet from me, but after that, everything went black.
~~~~TIME SKIP AND THIRD PERSON POV~~~~

Alfred's eyes fluttered open. He looked about the room, until his eyes landed upon (y/n).
"Hey, Alfred." She said.
"Where am I?" Alfred said, realizing he wasn't anywhere that he recognized.
"You're in the hospital, silly." She replied, "After you rescued that kid, the fire department said that a piece of wood fell on your leg."
Alfred tried to sit up and pull the covers off, but his back started hurting and he laid back down.
"Alfred." (y/n) started, "What you did was really brave. And dare I say it, heroic."
Alfred smiled, "Thanks."
"But, can I ask you a question?" She said.
Alfred nodded.
"Why did you kiss me before you entered the building?"
Alfred smiled again, "Because if I died in the fire, I wanted to know that I loved you."
(y/n) blushed, "R-really?"
He nodded again.
"I love you too, Alfred. You really are my hero." She replied and her face grew hotter, "Well... I better call the nurse and let her know that you're better."
