Alfred sat at his desk and let out a long sigh. He was trying to do paperwork, but he couldn't quite concentrate. He picked up his pen and flicked it back and for in his hand. Staring into space, he couldn't help but think about the other night, when _____ came over. Once again sighing, he tossed the pen on the desk and stood up. He raked a hand threw his hair, pushing it out of his face.
'Reading the books again, thoughts running in my head
All the tips don't seem to get a grip
And help with my love instead'
He headed over to his window and peered out at the landscape before him. The night made everything seem so gloomy. During the day, the red flowers and bright green grass shone through his window, illuminating his whole room. Now that the moonlight shone on them, nothing was too interesting about it.
'Fall is passing so fast, wishing the season would last
Maybe the chill is making me feel ill
I wonder why and ask myself that'
He turned away and sat on his bed, slouching in his normal position. _____ still in his head, he smiled and picked up the phone. He dialed _____'s number.
"Alfred... Don't you realize what time it is...?" _____ muttered into the phone. Her voice was low and crackly, almost sickly.
"No," he said, "I'm sorry, I thought you'd be up."
_____ sighed, "It's two in the morning. Get off the phone and get some rest." She hung up and fell back asleep.
Alfred tossed the phone to his side and laid down. He pulled the covers over his head and slowly fell asleep.
~~~~TIME SKIP~~~~
An annoying buzzing went off around the room. Alfred groaned and rolled over, accidentally dipping his cheek in a puddle of drool, and grabbed his phone from the night stand. He picked up, not looking at the caller ID.
"Hello...?" Alfred said drowsily.
"Sorry, did I wake you sleepyhead~?" _____ asked, "You realize that it's one in the afternoon, right? How long did you stay up?"
Alfred reached for his glasses and put them on, he sat up, "I feel asleep after you hung up."
"Uh huh." _____ said sarcastically, rolling her eyes.
"But I did!"
"Right. Anyway, I'm headed to the park, wanna come with?" _____ put her shoes on, lacing them loosely. Her shoes were getting a bit too small. She kept telling her self to go to the shoe store and get new ones, but she kept putting it off.
"Oh! Sure!" Alfred scrambled out of bed and headed to the closet to grab some clothes. He stumbled over a shirt on the floor and fell to the ground.
"Don't hurt yourself." _____ chuckled.
"Thanks." Alfred playfully rolled his eyes and stood back up. He rubbed his knee, he knew he was going to have a bruise later.
"Okay, I'll see you there..." _____ checked her watch, "In about an hour? How's that?"
"Sound good to me." Alfred replied, taking a shirt off of a hanger.
"Good! By Alfie!"
"Bye, _____!"
'Come and help already, for this love is pretty heavy
Do your share, don't leave me to bear
My knees feel so weak
Don't you know that you make me feel crazy, half-half don't you be lazy
Feelings here that you made appear
It's thanks to you, you see?'
Alfred sprinted out the door. He was all dressed and ready thirty minutes before he had to leave, so he watched TV. Apparently, he overestimated how much time he had left and watched too much. He was ten minutes late and felt absolutely terrible about it.
Lucky for him, the park was right down the street and he could make it there in about two minutes, if he ran.
About half way there, he ran out of breath and his throat was dry. He stopped in his tracks and bent over, hands on his knees, and started panting.
"Everything alright?" A familiar voice asked.
Alfred turned around to see the (hair color)ed girl that he was going to see, "_____?"
She smiled, "I saw that you were late, and you didn't text me, so I went looking for you. Are you sure everything is okay?"
Alfred choked on his breath. He slowly stood up and wiped his forehead with his sleeve, "Just peachy."
Alfred took a second look at _____. She was wearing a fitting t-shirt and shorts. Her hair was in a bun (if your hair is too short, it's in a headband), keeping her hair out of her eyes.
Alfred smiled brightly, "You look cute, _____!"
_____ blushed a slight tinge of pink, "Thanks, Alfred. But this is just something I threw on." She chuckled.
'You and me, let's not pretend that we're only caring friends
Don't push away, I won't be swayed
For I'll chase you to our end
Let's suppose that you and me would work out so perfectly
Tell me dear what I should hear
Cause I'll hunt you down so quick'
"Nonsense!" Alfred exclaimed, waving his hand in front of his face, "It looks amazing!"
"Thanks, Al. You look pretty cute yourself." She chuckled.
"Thanks." He blushed.
'This love's made me sick!'
_____ laughed loudly, "Come on then, let's go!"
She grabbed his hand and ran to the park. Alfred stumbled, but kept up with her pace, watching her hair bounce in the wind.
When they made it to the park, _____ found a nice bench next to two pretty flower bushes. They both sat down and Alfred picked a flower and handed it to her.
She smiled, "Thanks, it's beautiful!"
He smiled back a little as _____ admired the flower. Alfred took it from out of her hand and put it behind her ear, wrapping her loose hair behind the flower.
"Pretty." He chuckled.
"Yeah. Thanks."
'Each of my plans all along, somehow every one could go wrong
Strange for me, how much I hope you see
I must carry on and be strong
Under the beautiful sky, my heart's only starting to fly
Must play cool, don't wanna be a fool
No regrets; I still have to try'
_____ looked down at the bench, she put her hands to her sides and gripped the edge of the bench. Alfred noticed her tenseness and put a hand on top of hers. She looked up at him, he smiled.
"Hey! _____!" Someone shouted in the distance.
_____ quickly jerked her head to face behind her. Arthur was standing next to a tree and started heading towards the two of them.
"Oh, hey Art! How are you?" _____ asked loosening her grip on the bench.
"I'm doing well, thank you. Your hair looks quite lovely like that, did you do it yourself?" He asked.
"I did. It's not that big of a deal." She lifted her hands from the bench and shrugged.
"You look beautiful, dear." Arthur replied.
"Thanks." She put her head down again, her shoulders lowered, and she closed her eyes.
Alfred shot Arthur a mean look. Arthur put his hands up by his shoulders, surrendering. Alfred shot him another look, which made him start inching away.
"I'll see you later, _____. I have things to attend to." Arthur said, placing a hand on her shoulder. She nodded. Arthur left.
'Looking down the hall, I peer around another wall
Yep I'll admit you deserve the compliments
But if there's more to what he* says
Then I might have to keep an eye on him* to stay out of my way
Love is growing bitter, but I swear I'm not a quitter
Gulp it down, and cover a frown
I'm getting jitters
Not a pill can ease my ache, for my heart would surely break
X and O wish you would know
How much can I take?'
Alfred sighed, "Hey, _____?"
She slowly lifted her head, "Yes?"
Alfred pulled his hand close to his face, covering his mouth a little, "What do you think of Arthur?"
"He's just an old time friend. He's kinda like a brother to me. Why do you ask?" She loosened her grip again, offering Alfred a few questioning looks.
"No reason." He said nonchalantly.
'Like you- or loving you is all I ever do
Though I try, I guess it's fine
If you don't feel the same too
Maybe one day, you'll hit you head and maybe see
You and me are meant to be
This love's really made me sick!'
_____ tensed up again. Alfred stared at her hands and shoulders, watching them tighten.
"Is everything alright, _____?" He asked.
"Yeah." She sighed, "I'm fine."
Alfred grabbed her hand again and brought it close to his chest, holding it firmly in both hands.
"_____." He started, "I can tell when you're upset. What's wrong?"
'Feelings felt one way, it's not like it will ever change
All it seems to bring me is pain and tears
I've cried, then tried my best to hide
Tell me, what should I do?
And then I knew that all this pain is my true love for you'
_____ burst into tears. She retracted her hand from Alfred's grip and constantly wiped her eyes. She let out small cries and sniffles. Alfred grabbed her chin with his thumb and index finger and lifted it to where he could see her face.
"_____, what's wrong? Please, tell me." He repeated.
"I can't help it anymore! I love you Alfred!"
Come and help already, for this love is pretty heavy
Do your share, don't leave me to bear
My knees feel so weak
Don't you know that you make me feel crazy, half-half don't you be lazy
It's okay, it's fine, I say
Only me
You and me, let's not pretend that we're only caring friends
Don't push away, I won't be swayed
For I'll chase you to our end
Let's suppose that you and me come together suddenly
I'll be your guy*, the world will be ours when you agree'
"W-what?" Alfred stuttered, at a loss for words.
"I love you! I'm sorry!" She covered her eyes with her hands.
Alfred removed her hands and lifted her chin closer to his face and lightly kissed her on the lips. It wasn't passionate, but you could tell that the love was there. He pulled away and wiped her tears out of her eyes with his thumb.
"Don't be sorry. I love you too, _____." He smiled.
_____ just stared at Alfred's diamond blue eyes. She closed her eyes and started crying again, this time, tears of joy. She hugged Alfred's torso and buried her head into his chest.
'This love's really made me sick!'
