Chapter 1

"I see nothing," a tall blonde haired man with spiky hair stated as he skimmed his eyes across the frozen Scandinavia.

"Well, perhaps no one lives here! Let's just go find somewhere else to camp!" complained another blondish, but shorter man.

"Finland, look at this place. It is paradise! No filthy bandits or pirates around here!" the spiky haired man argued as he gestured his hand to the horizon.

"I 'gree w'th D'nm'rk. M'yb' w' sh'ld m'ke c'mp h're. (I agree with Denmark. Maybe we should make camp here.)" Another man with a wavy blue cloak agreed.

"It is not like we have camped in snow before. Are you finally turning wimp on us, Fin? If not, I have no reason why we should leave. Scot and Britain are still out there, so unless you want a cannon ball placed in your stomach, I suggest you start unpacking." a man dressed in a purple regalia and hat said. The others nodded in agreement. Finland sighed, as he started to take out firewood from his leather pack.

"Denmark, kill some rabbits with your axe, why don't you?" suggested the man with the purple regalia as he took out some animal skins as well as some sticks out of his leather pack.

"Mmhh....I don't think there are any animals out here, Nor. It would be a miracle if there wer-" Denmark was cut off when Finland yelled and pointed to a white fox. Finland immediately got his tomahawk and launched it towards the animal. Within seconds, the fox fell to the ground, the snow was already beginning to cover up the fox's lifeless body.

"Hah! No animals, you said. You are losing your sense of hunting, Mathias!" giggled Finland, whose name was Tino. Mathias grumbled and slumped down to his animal skin bed (Which Sweden had set up for him). Norway, whose name was Lukas, ran towards the fox and grabbed it before the snow covered it completely. He then brought it back, where Finland grabbed it and skinned the whole animal within minutes. It was Tino's natural talent he had. Sweden set the fire, which was in the tent he also set up; setting things up neatly was a weird habit of his the other Nordics seemed to enjoy.

-Somewhere in the Norwegian Sea-

"Did ye find em yet?" asked a man dressed in an eye patch to another man who seemed to wear a fancy red cloak and hat, indicating he was the Captain.

"Nay...How could they manage to escape us so easily?" questioned the British Captain.

"How should I know, Arthur?! We have been searchin for these guys for over fifty years now!" stated the shorter pirate who started to set down the sails to the Frigate they were in.

"They won't get away that easy, ay? Those swashbucklers shouldn't have gone too far. Ay! Land, ahoy! They are probably there, those cowards. Scot, go summon thee other men and have em ready their weapons." Arthur ordered as he grinned towards the barren land, sensing life somewhere.

-South Western Scandinavia-

"Dinner is ready! Hurry up and eat, we don't know how much time we got before those stink'in pirates will find us." Tino advised, as he gave each of the men a plate of now cooked fox. Denmark stood up, stomped the ground, and placed his axe on the snow.

"I'd like to see them try to capture us! I can take them down with one swing!" Mathias boasted as he grinned. Sweden, whose name was Berwald, rolled his eyes. Tino and Lukas had childish smiles as they secretly made snowballs, hard as stone, and threw them at Mathias's head. The snowballs sent Mathias tumbling to the floor as he looked up in dismay to find a laughing Finland and Norway.

"Haha, very funny," Mathias said sarcastically. Tino and Lukas suppressed from laughing when Berwald gave a cough which warned them not to continue. They all ate dinner without saying a word. After they finished eating, they dared not to put out the fire. The fire was life for them. If it was alive, fresh with warmth, then they were alive. They each had each learned to forge a campfire when they were five. Denmark and Sweden had learned all on their own; but when they found Norway and Finland, who were babies at the time, they decided to teach them instead of figuring it out for themselves. Mathias, occasionally showed off his armor, which he had crafted, every time him and Lukas went out to hunt for food in the woods.

"Ay, I was just thinking...why don't we explore the land? You know, travel a little more to the South East. There's bound to be more animals or trees! I hate the snow, ruins my hunting sense." suggested Mathias as he started chopping down a tree for more firewood.

"Mh...could be fun. What do you say, Swede?" asked Lukas as Tino nodded in agreement, because his mouth was full of greasy meat.

"F'n'...'t w'll m'k' 't h'rd'r f'r th'se p'r't's t' g't 's. (Fine...It will make it harder for those pirates to get us.)." Berwald decided as he stood up, wrapping himself with his furry cloak. The four men all stood up, packed all their things in their packs, and started walking to South East Scandinavia.

-Somewhere in Northern Asia-

"Hahaha. Yes, that land will be most valuable," agreed a man with silver hair.

"Zen it is settled. I vill start to round up ze men, sir." offered a shorter man dressed in a grey military uniform.

"Da, do what you must do. I want zat land, and if I want it, I shall have it; no matter ze cost." the man with silver hair said as he took out his pipe and rested it on his hands, grinning.
