Narrator's POV
It had been a couple of months since both you and Ludwig had met and broken up with your exs. You two, through your mutual pain, struck up a rather good friendship with each other, using your rooftop lunch breaks to meet up and talk.
"[name], vhat are jou reading?" Ludwig asked as he stared at the magazine you were holding in your hand.
"Oh this? It's a normal magazine about girl things, although this issue that my friend gave me is about relationship advice." You said. Ludwig raised his eyebrow.
"Relationship advice?" He asked. You nodded.
"This one is about how to take previous relationships and use them to grow in order to find a new and better relationship." You said, peaking Ludwig's interest.
"So vhat does it say?" Ludwig asked, looking over your shoulder into the magazine.
"It says this; look at the things you liked about that relationship and the things you like about that person, and then list the things that you did not like about your relationship and that person." You read. You then looked up at Ludwig. "Wanna try?"
"... Sure, vhy not?" Ludwig said. He then glanced up at the sky.
"Vell, her looks vere something I guess I kind of liked." Ludwig said.
"Kind of?" You questioned.
"Ja, she had a nice figure, but her hair vas always dyed to the point it just looked bad. And zhen she always vore make-up, a lot, so zhough it was probably to make her look more attractive, I found it just unflattering." Ludwig said. He then glanced at you. "Vhat about jou?"
"Hmm... Good question," You said, scratching your head. "Let's see now... Like you said, looks were important, but I think that may have been a bad thing."
"Really? Vhy?" Ludwig asked. Your shrugged.
"Think about it; both our exs were the good-looking popular cliques kind of people, so they were surrounded by people who were out partying, dating a lot of people, having plenty of drama, you know, basically bad influences on them." You said.
"I see vhat jou are saying; try to find people vho don't have bad influences surrounding zhem." Ludwig said.
"Yep, you see what I mean," You said. "You could meet someone who seems good, but with all that pressure and that atmosphere around them, they could ultimately hurt you by giving into that sort of pressure."
"Ja, zhat's true; environment does effect how people grow and behave," Ludwig said. You nodded.
"Yeah, just look at you," You said to Ludwig. "You are good-looking and athletic, but you grew up with good friends like Kiku and Feli who don't go out partying and are studious (or at least know when to be), and none of them have dangerous habits."
"Hmm... An interesting point," Ludwig said. "I never zhought about how zhey effect my behavior."
"Think about it," You said. "If they were constantly partying and fooling around with people, wouldn't you feel obligated to do so?" You asked. Ludwig was silent for a moment before answering.
"Honestly... I vant to say zhat I vouldn't but... I can't deny zhe chance zhat I vould feel zhe need to." Ludwig said. He then shook his head. "Vhat about jou? Vhat zhings did jou not like about jour previous relationship?"
"Good question," You said. "I guess the fact that he was stuck up and rather self-centered."
"Ja, mein vas too." Ludwig said.
"Totally," You said. "I mean, it's one thing when it's low-key and you're stuck up about things worth being stuck up about, like winning an award, but there are limits you know?" You said getting a nod from Ludwig.
"Like about having jour nails done?"
"Or about tackling a bunch of guys in a sports match." You said.
"He really boosted about zhat?" Ludwig asked.
"Yeah," You said with a sigh. "He did."
"Mein Gott, he sounds like an a**," Ludwig said, making you giggle.
"I know," You said, leaning back against the wall. "Now that we broke up and I'm mostly over it, I sometimes wonder what I saw in him to begin with."
"Ja, I know zhat feeling," Ludwig said, crossing his arms. "I've been vondering zhat lately too."
"Maybe this magazine is right," You said, looking down at the magazine on your lap. "I think that the next relationship I'm going to have will definitely be better than the last since I now know what I don't want." You said, getting a nod from Ludwig.
"I zhink jou have a point. I zhink ve'll both be more aware vhen it comes to dating again." Ludwig said.
Just then Feliciano came onto the roof with Kiku.
"Ve~ Ciao!" Feliciano said, waving his hands.
"Herro," Kiku said, giving you guys a slight bow.
"Ve~ What-a are you-a guys talking about?" Feliciano asked. So you told him and Kiku about what you and Ludwig talked about.
"Hmm... I berieve that magazine's advice is correct." Kiku said as he looked at the magazine article.
"Ve~ It-a sounds like you-a two are-a ready to-a move on." Feliciano said. You scratched the back of your head.
"Yeah, I guess we are," You said as Ludwig nodded.
"Ja, I vish us both luck in our challenge," Ludwig said, making Feliciano tilt his head.
"Ve~? You-a two won't be-a going out with-a each other?" Feliciano asked, making both you and Ludwig blush.
"What-?!" Both you and Ludwig said in unison.
"But you-a two get along really-a well and are-a always spending time together," Feliciano said innocently.
"I think it is time we go Fericiano-kun," Kiku said, a light blush on his face as he quickly pulled Feliciano back into the school, leaving you and Ludwig alone blushing.

You both were silent, averting your gazes away from each other.
"... Do we really seem like a couple?" You asked.
"... I don't know..." Ludwig said sheepishly. "It is true zhat we spend a lot of time together."
"And I'd say we get along well," You said.
"Ja, we do," Ludwig said. He then coughed into his hand. "I get along better vith jou zhat I did vhen I vas vith mein ex."
"Yeah... Now that I think about it, I get along better with you than my ex too." You said.
"..."
"..."
Silence took over as you both considered everything that had just happened in the last couple of minutes.
'Should we...?' You both thought simultaneously.
You both glanced at each other's blushing faces before looking away again. Eventually Ludwig cleared his throat.
"So [name]... Do jou... um..." Ludwig stumbled over his words as you listened. "Do jou vant to... to go out t-together?"
"Yeah, that sounds good." You said with a blush as a smile exploded on your face. The corner of Ludwig's lips twitched upwards in a smile.
"Danke," Ludwig said. You giggled.
Thus a good friendship turned into a loving relationship between you and Ludwig.
