Narrator's POV

"Oh?  You are early today Kiku,"  A nurse said.

"Hai, my crub [club] meeting finished earry [early],"  Kiku said, bowing politely to the nurse who chuckled.

"Well, I'm sure [name] will be happy either way to see you."  She said, walking away as Kiku continued through the hospital till he came to your room.  He knocked on the door.

"Come in,"  A soft voice said.  Kiku opened the door to gaze at you.

You were sitting up in bed against some pillows, your [h/c]-colored hair a bit messy as your eyes met his.

"Hey Kiku, how are you today?"  You asked with a soft smile as Kiku came into the room.

"I am fine, thank you."  He said, taking a seat.  "How are you today [name]-chan?"  He asked.

"Mmm... About the same I think,"  You said.  "Doctors didn't say much today, but then again they never say much lately."

"... I see,"  Kiku said softly.

"So how are Ludwig & Feliciano?"  You asked.  "Still crazy for each other?"

"Hai, they are,"  Kiku said with a faint smile as he thought back to earlier in the day.  "We ended our crub meeting earrier [earlier] because they had a date."  He said, making you giggle.

"I'm glad they finally got together, it was getting a little painful to watch them,"  You said, remembering how obvious it was to everyone but them that they liked each other.

"It was rather painfur,"  Kiku said with a weary sigh.

"But I'm sure this was rather satisfying for you and the members of the Yaoi fan club,"  You said, making Kiku freeze.

"... [n-name]-chan, how did y-you know that?"  He asked, stuttering a bit from shock.  You giggled.

"I've seen you and Elizabeta exchanging plenty of pictures."  You said, making Kiku freeze again.  You let out a soft laugh before turning to the window for a moment.

"Hey Kiku, what do you plan to do in the future?"  You asked, catching Kiku off guard.

"Werr... I think I wourd rike to go into computer engineering, maybe even video game deveropment."  Kiku said.

"Yeah, that sounds like a great idea.  I'm sure you'll be great."  You said with a smile as you turned to face Kiku.

"What about you [name]-chan?"  Kiku asked.  Your eyes seemed to be covered with a shadow for a second before you snapped out of it.

"I... I'm not quite sure..."  You mumbled.

"Werr, whatever it is, I wirr herp [help] you achieve it."  Kiku said, sounding like a devoted knight, making you smile a sad smile.

"Thanks Kiku, I can always count on you..."  You said softly.  Kiku flashed you a rare smile as you turned to look at the window.

"... Hey Kiku?"

"Hai?"

"Tomorrow..."

"Tomorrow what [name]-chan?"  Kiku asked.  You were silent for a moment before shaking your head and turning back to Kiku with a smile.

"Tomorrow... I want you to go out and enjoy yourself instead of coming here."  You said, shocking Kiku.

"What?  Is something the matter [name]-chan?"  Kiku asked, getting a bit worried.  You just smiled.

"It's nothing Kiku, it's just... I feel guilty that you come here everyday to see me."  You said, waving your hand.  "Even the others only come like 2-3 times a week or less sometimes."  You said.

"But-"

"Kiku, just because I'm stuck here, doesn't mean you have to be too."  You said, cutting him off.  "You should try to go live your life too.  If not for yourself then how about for me who's stuck here?"  You said.

Kiku fell silent for a moment, his eyes closed before opening them.

"Hai, you are right [name]-chan."  He said.  With that, Kiku stood up.  "I will see you soon [name]-chan."  He said, bowing to you.  You just waved farewell.

"Best of luck Kiku, and remember to have fun."  You said.

When Kiku left the room, you put your hand down and laid back on the bed, sighing as you looked out the window.

'Just one more day...'

~Time Skip~

Kiku hurried over to the hospital, filled with stories to tell [name] about from the previous day; everything from Ludwig and Feliciano's relationship, to Francis and Arthur's latest bickering, to even a new game he had given to Alfred.

Kiku walked up the familiar corridors till he reached the room where a nurse was coming out.

"Oh?  Kiku?  What are you doing here today?"  She asked.

"I'm here to see [name]-chan,"  Kiku said, making a grim look come across the nurse's face.

"A-ah, I'm afraid you can't today Kiku."  She said softly.

"Is she with a doctor right now?"  Kiku asked in a confused tone.  The nurse shook her head.

"Kiku... I'm sorry child but... [name] is no longer here..."  She said, making Kiku's breath hitch.

"W-What?"

"Kiku... [name] had a terminal illness... and she didn't have a lot of time left.  In fact, I think yesterday was her last day."  The nurse said, making a cold feeling settle in Kiku's stomach as he realized it;

You didn't want him to come on your last day and see how bad things were, to see reality.  You wanted him to be happy for both him and yourself.

And knowing that hurt Kiku more.

Everything afterwards was a bit of a blur from Kiku's brother coming to pick him up to even the funeral that all your friends had come too, to even this moment where Kiku stood in front of the grave, fists clenched, as he pondered life.

'... [name]-chan... I hope that you wirr continue to watch over me and know that I pran to keep keep my promise with you to rive a good rife... for both of us...'  Kiku thought.

After a brief pause, Kiku turned around and headed off, not noticing the figure behind the stone who stood there with a bright smile.

"Best of luck."  A soft voice said, sounding as if it were one with the wind itself.
