They are all nagas so just to clarify a few things-

Snakes smell by tasting the air.

Nagas don't talk to communicate, they do so more by action and sounds but no normal human speech.

Narrator's POV

A soft hissing yawn was heard from a cave where in a warm nest were two sets of tails coiled around each other, soaking and sharing each other's warmth.

A female with messy locks of [h/c]-colored hair and [f/c]-colored tail began to stir, moving about more as her mate shifted in response.  [name] opened her eyes, letting out another yawn as she looked about the cave, her eyes landing on Matthew's face above her own.

[name]'s tongue slithered out as she hissed, waking Matthew up.  Matthew let out a low hum and hugged tighter, his purple tail coiling around [name]'s more, signalling that he wanted to sleep longer.  [name] gave a soft smile to this and softly hissed again, telling Matthew that it was time to get up.

With reluctance, Matthew let [name] go, their tails uncoiling as she shifted into an upright position, Matthew following suit.  [name] thumped her tail twice before using it to push Matthew out of their nest.  Matthew obeyed and watched as [name] gathered up their bedding, putting it in a neat pile near the nest.

Matthew went over to the side of the cave, grabbing two curved bowl-like pieces of wood, handing one to [name] as they slithered out of their warm cave.

They moved through the summer forest, stopping every once in a while to look at plants or animals that caught their attention.  Eventually, they reached the river bank where they went to their usual area.

They both dipped their bowls into the water, bringing it up to their faces where they drank their fill, content till [name] noticed something move in the corner of her eye.  She got into a pouncing position before striking, catching a small fish that had come close by.  A hissing laugh left her lips as she held the fish to Matthew who clapped his hands.

[name] hummed before grabbing the bowl, scooping up some more water and putting the fish in the bowl for later.  Matthew moved a little further down the stream, keeping an eye out for some fish before striking, catching another one, placing it into the bowl.

[name] let out a high pitched hiss, letting her joy sound out as Matthew blushed and grabbed her hand, leading her to a nearby sunny spot where they enjoyed the fish.  Though Matthew tried hard to give the slightly bigger one to [name], she refused since he was the one who caught it.

[name] sniffed the air before poking Matthew's arm, getting his attention.  Matthew began sniffing around as well before a grin came to his face as he followed [name] off into the woods.

[name] thumped her tail happily as she circled a bush filled with delicious, ripe berries.  She picked on and popped it in her mouth, humming with delight as the juice burst out.  Matthew chuckled at his mate's happy face and began to eat some berries himself.

But the two only had a few before picking the berries, placing them in Matthew's bowl.  Once they were satisfied, they went back to their cave, placing the bowls down before heading out again, this time holding hands.

Matthew led the way towards a small open area where several large rocks were sitting under the sun, soaking up the heat.  He gently led [name] over to a large, smooth rock, letting her settle down before curling around her, trying to keep her warm.

[name] let out a hum as she curled into Matthew's chest, enjoy the warm summer rays and Matthew's own heat.

Matthew gently began running his fingers through [name]'s hair, detangling it and removing any leaves that may have gotten caught in her hair.

[name] moved up to give Matthew a light kiss, making his face erupt in a bright red blush, but he still continued.  Though when [name] felt he was done, she shifted herself, moving her body behind Matthew to do the same for him.

Matthew let out an appreciative hum as [name] groomed his hair for him, laying down on the warm rock as [name] used her magic fingers.

[name] let a happy hiss when she finished, Matthew turning to her and nuzzling her cheek in thanks.

[name] giggled in response and put her arms around Matthew, pressing their bodies close as the laid on the sunny rock for a while.

But eventually, the sun began to go down, signalling it was time for the two to return to their warm cave for the night.

Matthew held his hand out to [name], leading her down from the rocks and slithering with her through the forest and back into their cave where [name] was quick to head over to the pile of their nesting material.

Matthew took part of it and helped [name] lay down the soft material onto the ground, piling it up so that they would have a comfortable bed to sleep on for the night.

Once done, Matthew let [name] onto it first before coiling up beside her, picking up the bowl filled with berries from earlier, holding it out to [name].  [name] smiled as she began to eat the sweet and juicy berries with Matthew.

Before they knew it, they had finished them, [name] letting out a satisfied hum as she curled up in Matthew's chest.  Matthew smiled as he put the bowl down and coiled himself around [name], trying to keep her warm for the night.

[name] flicked her tongue out at Matthew before giving him a soft kiss, her way of bidding him goodnight.  Matthew did the same thing as he wrapped his arms around his mate, settling down in their nest for another blissful night together.
