Leon tapped his fingers on the armrest. Yao rambled on about his youth. The elderly man often got on rants like this. After 104 years of life, he had plenty of stories that he still managed to wear out all of them. Not to mention, his uncle's mind was constantly in the past. He didn't believe in many modern-day things.

Unfortunately, he'd been stuck next to Yao for the past 12 hours. " Only 3 more hours, only 3 more hours...." He kept whispering that in his mind.

His uncle, being his closest living family member and also being one to stick to ancient traditions, had arranged a marriage for him. Apparently, there was a family in Iceland with a daughter. He could only assume this poor girl was stuck with the same type of family members as he had.

Yao grumbled something and pinched his nephew's arm. When he received a satisfactory yelp, he frowned. " Do not space out. Women don't like it if you're not listening, aru. Consider this training!" With that, he continued his storytelling.

Emil shut the door to his room quietly. He was determined not to make a noise. His older brother was sleeping in the other room and he did not need to be awoken just yet. The white-haired boy padded down the carpeted stairs. He was headed for the front door.

He reached for the door handle and a floorboard creaked below him. He winced as a strong hand grabbed his write and he was forced to meet the gaze of Mathias, a family friend who had been sleeping over recently.

" What're you doing, Emil? Do you have any idea what time it is?" Mathias' voice was weak, like he had been previously sleeping.

An idea came to the younger boy's brain and he led the half-asleep Dane back to the couch where he'd been staying. " You're dreaming, go back to bed." When Mathias fell for his little white lie, the boy slipped out of the house.

Leon locked the door to the hotel room that he and his uncle shared. He switched off the light and sat down at the desk. He checked to make sure the snores from Yao were genuine and opened his laptop. Pulled up on his screen was the home page of a blogger from Iceland that he followed the every move of.

Not in a creepy way. Over the years of reading his posts and leaving comments, they'd gotten closer. To the point where they video-chatted once a week. It was hard because of the timezones, but they made it work. Naturally, he'd let the Icelandic know he was visiting nearby.

He was a bit disheartened to see that the blogger hadn't replied to his latest text message about where he was staying. The Chinese man checked his watch. 10pm. First thing in the morning, he and his uncle were going to meet his fiancée. He hated his current situation but meeting his online friend would make everything better. So the moment his phone buzzed, he scrambled to open his text messages.

" Which room?" He read aloud. Jumping from his seat, he flung to curtains open and looked down at their beautiful view of the front of the hotel.

Leon looked around for the boy he'd grown to be friendly with. There was no sight of him. He squinted, looking past the flashy entrance to the building into the shadows. A pale face was just barely illuminated by the screen of a phone. A second later, the light disappear as the boy in the shadows seemed to be waiting for something.

The boy rushed to his portable electronic device and shot a simple text at him. " Look up." He turned on the bedside lamp and waited for the text to send. The moment it did, the boy in the shadow's phone flashed on, confirming Leon's suspicions.

He slid the window open. Being only on the second floor, he was very close to the ground and nearly right next to his online friend.

Emil's phone buzzed and his eyes widened. " Look up..." He read in his mind. His head jerked around to find where he needed to look. His eyes landed on a room as it's lights flashed on and a figure appeared to open the window.

He stumbled to his feet at the sound of the voice he'd only heard over calls. " Yo, Romeo." Leon leaned against the window frame, looking down at the boy who's purple eyes lit up his world.

" You're just as weird as Lukas is!" Emil huffed and crossed his arms. No hesitance went through his mind. They were best friends after all, why be formal.

Leon felt happiness surge throughout his body as his once online friend was now right outside his bedroom window. He couldn't help but give a rare grin.

BOOM.

Emil put a hand on his chest. What was that repetitive noise? It was in his ears. There was a pain in his heart. What was the meaning of this!? Every second his eyes stayed glued to Leon's smile, his heart hurt. Something was definitely wrong. He had to see a doctor about this. Maybe he'd been poisoned!

There was a groan from inside the room. An old Chinese man had awoken from his slumber to find his nephew serenading someone outside the window. He took one look at Emil's face and decided something. Leon was more than surprised when he hobbled over and began yelling at the Icelandic moments later.

" You old hag! Leave my nephew alone, aru! He's engaged and we don't need any temptresses to ruin it! Shoo! Shoo!"

Emil drew the line when he was hit in the face with a flying cane. " Why you—!" He growled, only to notice the window was already closed, the curtains drawn, and the lights switched off.

He sweatdropped. But the man's words stuck in his brain. One of the things he said in particular. " Wait..... did he......"

He curled his hands into fists and stared up at the window with a mighty rage.

" CALL ME A WOMAN!?"

The breeze blew through the leaves. However, a certain millennial was having a particularly hard time enjoying the scenery. While his fiancée went on and on about 'what a lovely life they would have together,' he had begun to think back to the night before.

He'd barely slept a wink because of it. Gazing into Emil's eyes in person filled him with warmth and made him a little dizzy. Leon could feel the glares from Yao as he sat two tables over. The restaurant they were currently in was a nice one, but he still had no interest in it. Not in the slightest.

Across the room sat someone with blonde hair that kind of reminded him of Emil's white hair, despite its difference in color. He knew that it wasn't his friend, though. They were two towns over, after all. Why would Emil be anywhere around them.

His fiancée excused herself to use the bathroom and Yao saw the opportunity to talk to his nephew in private. He hobbled over and grabbed his ear. " What's with you? She looks like she having no fun, aru. Pay attention!"

Leon rubbed his ear and watched the old man go back to his table rather quickly. He looked down at his hands and was quite upset at the sight of the engagement ring on his finger.

He'd let the woman think what she wanted, but it was one of the cheapest rings in the store. After all, he didn't know her, why spend all his money on her? As far as he knew, she would do that enough when she was his wife.

Was that mean? Was it mean to not care for a woman that you'll spend your whole life with? Fate would be cruel to him because of it, surely.

While Leon waited for his fiancée to return, he stole looks at the other table. He was fascinated with the people who sat there. Imagine his surprise when none other than Emil approached the guy he'd been watching.

Leon stood up quickly, bumping his leg on the table and causing his drink to spill all over the table. He freaked out not only because everyone in the crowded room was staring at him, but because one of them made his heart race and another was glaring holes in the side of his head.

He sucked in a breath at the sight and rushed out of the restaurant, a deep fear consuming him. He ran until he reached a quiet alleyway behind the building. The Chinese boy sunk to the ground. His heart was beating so fast it was painful. His head screamed so loudly he couldn't hear.

Emil stared at the, now empty, table that his friend had once occupied. An old man a few table over began mumbling things a little louder than he probably thought. " Why he so stupid? We talked about this, aru!" He stayed in his place, however, and didn't go after him.

The Icelandic boy felt a sharp pain in his chest at the thought of Leon being upset. He recalled all the conversations they'd had while video chatting. All the times they'd laughed together. All the times Emil had seen the, usually monotone, boy smile. He wanted to see that again. He needed to see that again.

Before he knew it, the boy with the white hair was chasing after the other one. He was outside of the restaurant, looking around desperately. A flash caught his eye and he turned into an alley. The reflection of the setting sun on a gold band around someone's finger was the indication Emil needed to find his best friend.

He smiled and started walking over. " Want to talk about it?"

" You were never one to talk." Leon's gaze averted over to him. His eyes were wide and full of fear.

Emil felt another pang through his heart and he knelt down next to him. " You were never one to run away."

A small chuckle arose from the Chinese one. " You are correct. But circumstances are different now. We are face to face, no?" His pupils dilated at the sight of Emil so close to him.

A wave of seriousness went through his face. " I should have told you. I've been engaged to a woman I hadn't met until today. I'm sorry."

" Oh, would you shut up and kiss me already!"

The Icelandic slapped a hand over his mouth, very upset that it betrayed him. " I-I'm sorry! That was uncalled for! You have a fiancée!" He waved his hands around, frantically trying to distract the other from the previous statement.

Leon's face lightened at the scene and a laugh unfolded at his lips. " No, no, don't worry about it. I should shut up." He smirked and his voice lowered. " She can get rid of the ring for all I care."

Emil looked up, shocked and confused. " W-What—"

His eyes widened as chapped lips pressed against his rather soft ones. Electricity sparked between them. The couple both closed their eyes as one held the other close. The moment they pulled away, panting, Leon smiled.

" Uncle did not lie. In a relationship, the woman is always right!"

" I'M NOT A WOMAN."
