Ahanu

Nation Name: Atikamekw

Human Name: Ahanu ("he laughs")

Age: unverified, thought to be as old as the Iroquois. Appears to be perhaps in his late thirties.

Sexuality: unsure; currently leans towards heterosexual

Appearance: Ahanu has long dark brown hair with two long locks of bangs framing his face and the rest of it in a loose braid behind him with a bright orange string wound around the end to keep it in place. He has a darkly tanned skin tone and big energetic almond brown eyes that seem to always sparkle with mirth. A thin framed and tall physique hides a runner's build and more strength than one might think someone of his stature could hold. Ahanu has a narrow face that can almost always be seen bearing a large smile with laugh lines visible no matter if he tried to hide them or not.
He loves to dress in noticeable and odd ways to express that uniqueness is above trying to fit in with the crowd. Currently he wears an open bright sunflower yellow short sleeved button-up over a long sleeved white shirt with the sleeves rolled up to just past his elbows. Over this he also wears a loose black tie. Khaki cargo shorts are his go-to pants and he likes to wear his tall fringes elk-skin moccasin boots no matter the weather or circumstance. Although occasionally he will also go barefoot.
Ahanu bears a few scars that are unnoticeable unless specifically looked for, however, one does stand out. He has a scar over his left collarbone from where he was pierced with an arrow and broke it during the war he helped Innu fight with Iroquois. It healed though there is still very small bits of flint permanently lodged in the place where the arrow pierced the bone.

Personality: mirthful, forgiving, and energetic Ahanu likes to make allies where he can and is adverse to making enemies unless a terrible wrong was done and he considers it to be a personal matter. He is quick to forgive and isn't one to hold grudges as he'd prefer to keep a friendly relationship rather than tear one down over one or few acts of wrong among many more of kindness. Despite having gone to war or disputed over things with neighbors and other family he holds no lasting ill will towards any of them and can only hope that they do the same. Ahanu, as his name suggests, loves to laugh and has a good sense of humor. Willing to make a joke even at his own expense he sees humor as a way to make friendships and repair bonds though does know that there are certain times to be more serious.
It is actually very hard to anger him as he likes to let things slide off of his back rather than take it personally and hold onto it for long periods of time. Though he will become saddened and/or offended rather quickly if one insults his maple syrup making abilities. This offense is punishable by several days of the silent treatment unless he is sincerely apologized to.
Ahanu is never one to let his troubled emotions show on his sleeve and keeps those bottled up and sealed tight, only showing a smile and a laugh outwardly. It takes a keen eye and a good friend to know when he is feeling down in the dumps for he hides it frighteningly well.

Current Economy and Status: economy is stable and he holds nation status.

Allies: mostly still Innu and Cree though he's always had his entire family on this list despite any circumstances that have ever arisen.

Enemies: Inuit (tribe) is really the only one he still can't get along with family-wise, though he isn't very fond of France, England, or Spain. (However of the three he can tolerate France the best).

Notable Neutralities: Cree, Innu

History: [editing in process]

Skills: Ahanu is unmatched in his ability to create homemade Maple Syrup and birch bark crafts, and any attempt to prove otherwise will both offend him and prove you wrong.
Good at hunting and fishing he has great aim though is horrible with most modern weapons, preferring to stick with a bow or spear.
Though not always reliable memory wise for some things he has an exceptional memory for geography and faces.

Other: though his tribe as a whole (along with his neighbor Innu) currently suffers from mercury poisoning he has never been driven from his traditional native lands and remains there today. Along with having his traditional culture and language still in tact.
He was later turned catholic by the French and English settlers after a period of time, though does still retain much of his original culture despite the fact.
