Native America (North America) was America and Canada's mother. She originally had many, many children before the Europeans arrived. Most of these faded away with time. Some, like America, Canada, and Mexico, forgot her and were found/adopted by the European nations. A few of America's states were also her children (Louisiana, Florida, California, Alaska, etc.). None of them, nation or state, represented a fixed territory or area for a long, long time.
