Historical Background: In 1614, the Dutch West India Company established New Netherlands. Unfortunately for the Dutch, the English conquered the region in 1664, renaming the region the Province of New York; they also separated some land from them to create New Jersey. New York would ten continue to be an English proprietary colony until 1685 when it became a royal colony from that year onward until 1776 when it became independent from Great Britain; it would later become a state of America. On a side note, New York was temporarily reconquered by the Netherlands from 1672-1674, and it was once a part of the short-lived Dominion of New England from 1686-1689.

Notable Traits: He looks like America without the cowlick and glasses. He can be fashionable, though he mostly appears in a suit and tie. He has a New York accent. He doesn't always carry it, but his most reliable weapon is a baseball bat. He has a great voice for singing, however, he rarely shows it off.

Personality: Brilliant and Insolent. His ambitions for fame and fortune have come to fruition thanks to centuries of hard work. As a result, the Yankee has grown to be the self-centered crown of the American empire, becoming the torchbearer of the American Dream. With that said, his importance to America and the world has given him lots of responsibilities. It has transformed him into a cold, irritable workaholic that's constantly under stress to pay his bills as well as maintain his reputation and expensive tastes. In addition, it has enforced his greed and egotism, isolating him from others who detest his rude attitude. While he's used to the negative noise surrounding him, he doesn't have the patience to tolerate annoyances that get in his way (like New Jersey). If not for his job, he's capable of living an adventurous life, being courteous to people, and enjoying the pleasures of a melting pot at his doorstep. Too bad he's always in a rush to get to work, too focused on doing his job right without much concern for his well-being. Nonetheless, it's admirable how he finds the strength to pick himself up and get back to work.

+ He was a spy for the American patriots during the American Revolutionary War.
+ He used to be a landlord of an apartment building that would accommodate people from many regions around the world that came to his home for work. Puerto Rico was one of his tenants. He was forced to close the building when the Great Depression devastated the world economy.
+ In addition to working for his boss, he also works as a financial analyst. With that said, he has been known to take on additional jobs over the years.
+ Calvin Klein is one of his favorite fashion brands. He had worked with them one time as an underwear model, though he asked them to not show his face in their advertisements to avoid too much publicity (and the embarrassment of the other states seeing them).
+ He always needs coffee to start his mornings. Otherwise, he gets moody.
