Chapter 3 - Chillin' with the principle

I'm either one cool cucumber or such a frequent visitor in here that I honestly think of the principle's office as my second home. I remember once I wasn't sent up here and man did I feel so naked like, I couldn't stand it that I marched out of English and ran all the way here; I literally barricaded myself in here. They had to get a ladder and come through the window to pry me off of inside the coat closet; Mr Hopkins is an epic PE teacher!

"Principle Mr. Wise" I mumble under my breath as a I fiddled with a silver name plark, then sarcastically chuckled.

I was seated in a dark brown leather chair that sat directly from the principle's desk, which my feet were currently occupying as I set them up to be elevated. I was slouched in my seat and completely bored waiting for Burnie to get here. The fact that he had this plark that says his last name was rather insulting I thought so at least; he always insisting on people calling him by his first name.

The door creaked open and I tilted my head back to see a man roughly in his mid fifties struggling with a stack of folders in his arms. He had short combed blonde hair that was starting to gain a few silver hairs, light blue eyes and was dressed in a causal laid back grey suit.

"How are ya Saga?" He said while taking a seat at his table.

I pointed to the plark and pulled down my feet so I could see him better,"I see you got a new one, a little formal don't ya think?"

He shrugged his shoulder,"Unfortunately the school board thought it would be unprofessional if it just had my first name."

"That's rubbish Burnie and you know it!" I sat up straight and glanced at the door, "What does that school board full of nimrods even know!?!"

"Saga, this is not the issue at hand." He was trying to calm me down, he is so lucky that I think of him as such a close friend.

He pulled open a draw that was specially labeled, 'Saga's Sagas'. I'm very proud of this draw, it has all my best work documented in it, ever since from grade seven; first year of high school. For example in year eight when I got into my first ever fist fight, year seven when I placed glue in the Home.Ec butter or the time in year ten roughly a few weeks after I got Russell I drove him onto the school oval and started driving after kids doing laps during PE. Burnie has saved my butt from being expelled so many times, usually just getting suspended for a few weeks and a butt load of detentions, visits to the school councillor and a designated 'keep outta trouble' buddy.

"I trust you already know why I'm up here." I said breaking the silence

"You turned Mrs McNeil into a human bun, basted in egg." He said with a small chuckle under his breath while pulling things out of the draw.

Putting your hands up in defence in a playful manner,"Yeah well Trinity was acting like I was the problem, completely ignoring two people exchanging their saliva. Actually I've picked up on a pattern, the last few times I've gotten in trouble Johno was in the background gettin' with someone. Yesterday it was Darcy, I think also Mckenzie, Joanna, Emily and even Evelin and Paige have all gotten some from him other times as well." Smirking,"Just waitin' until it's him and Dominic kickin' it up in the back of a classroom."

Burnie tried to hold in a snicker, so he cleared his throat,"I know you only act out like this because your always wrongly accused and because of your history most teachers tend to blame you, but your a good kid Saga. I'm worried about your future though. Also, some teachers don't like being called by their first name."

A blank stare filled my face, I completely ignored his last comment, but was captured by his main point,"What do you mean that your worried about my future?"

He lifted up all the folders from my draw and placed them on the table,"You have finally drew the final straw along time ago Saga. I did everything I could, your one of the smartest students we have here and such a good person who just got a bad name for the wrong reasons. This breaks my heart, but your expelled." He looked away from me with heavy eyes, I swore I could see he had tears building up.

This hit me like a ton of bricks, this is the only high school within hundreds of kilometres from me. I'm only half way through year eleven and I need to graduate high school so I can go to university.

I stuttered,"H-how do I f-fix this?"

Burnie rubbed his face with his slightly wrinkled, sunburnt hands, hiding his face and letting out a small sigh,"There's nothing I can do, I'm already under so much stress with family issues too. My nephews and their cousins are coming to live with me for a month, but I won't be here cause I'm going to have surgery done on my knee. I guess I'm going to be breaking four more hearts today."

My quick thinking hit me and I spoke without thinking,"How old are they and where are they coming from?"

Burnie took his face out of his hands and looked up at me puzzled,"Ahh, they are all around your age. My two nephews are twins, but one lives in Canada and the other in America because their parents divorce, so my sister is raising one of the boys in Canada and her Ex husband is raising the other one in America. One of their cousins are from France and the other one is from England. Why the sudden interest?"

I slyly lifted an eyebrow and leaned up against the desk,"What if I housed and look after them for the month while they're here, in exchange you figure out a way to fix my little 'issue'."

"Saga, do you really think having four boys from overseas in your house won't overwhelm your father? And I can't see how th--" he said with an anxious look on his face, so I stepped in.

I flawlessly lied straight through my teeth, "Our dad loves visitors, plus he is super into learning about new cultures!" I then became more serious and gave him an idea,"Maybe if you can convince the school board about me doing this good deed they will realise that I'm nothing like what my wrap says."

Burnie seemed unsure,"I guess it doesn't hurt if we try, are you sure your dad will be good with this?"

Flinging my wrist back,"Psst! Just this mornin' he said he was interested about sighing up for hosting an international student. This will be a fantastic thing. Okay Burnie how about this, I'll call you up this afternoon if he says no. So when they coming?"

"Mid day tomorrow'', they will be leavin' tonight so I need to know ASAP!" He said while putting everything back into my draw.

I smiled as I watched him put it all back, but then I realised that I might have saved my own skin, but now I'm going to need to get rid of my dad somehow and look after four foreign boys; who have zero Aussie smarts.

...

I opened up the passenger door of Russell to let what's her name in,"Hey Billie Jean, quick question. Where in the world would you think dad would want to go on a one month holiday?"

Louise brushed a strand of hair from her face and chucked her bag in the back with mine,"I don't know, what's with the sudden question?"

"Um, I don't know. Any ideas though?" I said trying to act cool.

She shrugged her shoulders and jumped onto the seat,"When we last visited mum he liked the Gold Coast I guess, he has a lot of friends there."

Gold Coast eh, hmmm. I don't know, our mum moved to Brissy for her job when she divorced our dad and they both hate each other, Brisbane and the Gold Coast are just too close; they might start world war three before a certain president wanna be does.

"What about the Caribbean?" I suggested while backing out off the car park.

"Cause dad is such a huge Johnny Deep fan and wants to be a fellow swosh bucklin' pirate!" She replied to me with a sarcastic snort.

"Okay, what about the ama--"

BEEP! BEEP!

"Watch where ya walking ya cockatoo!" I stuck my head out of the window and waved my fist at a stupid student that decided to run straight in front of me as I began to drive out off the school grounds.

Louise didn't seemed fazed by what happened and finished my question,"Don't think dad would be too thrilled by the Amazon as well. What about Tasmania though, he said he always wanted to go down there one day and go trout fishin'."

"That's fantastic Princess Peach! I'll ask mum to book the ticket!" I said with a goofy grin.

"Book what?" She looked at me in confusion.

I smiled and looked out the windscreen,"Nothin'! Your cool with letting four foreigners crash at our place right?"

She looked at the side of my face daze,"What?"

I saw her expression from the corner of my eye,"Nothin'! I'm not goin' to school tomorrow cause I'll be pickin' them up, so take the bus or ride your bike."

She put her hand on my shoulder,"What are you talkin' about?" She was clearly dumbfounded.

I glanced over at her and smiled,"It's been a long day and your an awesome ankle bitter Pamela, wanna quickly drop off at the top shop and pick up an icy-pole?"

Her beautiful smile was all I ever need in life as a 'fix me upper', granted I annoy her and she goes total ape over my random quirks, but when push comes to shove we are always there for each other. Having Mary Sue in my life is all I can ever ask for and I know she feels the same about me too.
