Pure Boredom
Rose woke up to find that Peter was already awake and dressed. "Why are you up and ready for the day so soon?" Rose teased.
"Why are you in bed and sleepy still?" Peter teased back. Rose laughed and pulled the covers back as she got up to find an outfit for the day. She picked out a lime green tank top with a black button up shirt that Rose left unbuttoned and tied above her belly. She then picked out a pair of short shorts and black sneakers. Rose decided to leave her hair down and walked back out of the bathroom. Peter was wearing a red t-shirt and Levi's jeans. Rose smiled at how Peter's shirt complimented his muscles. Rose leaned on the doorframe and cleared her throat before saying,
"What are we gonna do today?" Peter looked up from the newspaper with an unreadable expression on his face.
"Is something wrong?" Rose asked worried as she uncrossed her arms and sat on the bed next to Peter. She put a hand on his back and the other on his arm and searched his face for any sign of pain. Peter looked Rose in the eyes, cupped her face in his hands, and kissed Rose, letting a hand travel to the back of her neck. Rose kissed back and Peter pulled her close so that she was sitting in his lap. Peter intensified the kiss as he put a hand on Rose's bare thigh. Rose let out a soft moan as she felt butterflies flutter through her entire body. She pressed her chest against his and soon, he had his hand tangled in her hair. The two jumped at the sudden knocking on their door.
"Are you love birds awake yet?" an old guy asked.
"That would be Ron," Peter whispered. "Yes, we've been awake, we'll be out in five minutes," Peter called.
"Okie-dokie," Ron said.
"I guess we'll have to carry on some other time?" Peter asked as the hand that was in Rose's hair now rested on her shoulder. She let her hands glide down to his arms and kissed him again.
"I guess so," Rose smiled as she let her face linger close to Peter's.
"You look really good today by the way," Peter said as he squeezed Rose's thigh one last time. She closed her eyes and inhaled, smiling at his touch. Rose opened her eyes again and her smile grew. Peter leaned in to kiss her, but stopped an inch from her lips. "We should go before they get worried," Peter reminded me.
"But I want to stay here...in your arms with your lips on mine," Rose begged as she grabbed Peter's shirt. Peter grinned and closed the gap between them. Minutes later, there was another knock on the door, but Peter didn't bother answering this time.
"Oh! I see you don't waste your mornings." Peter and Rose stopped and Peter slowly turned around and gave a small, embarrassed wave.
"Hi Nathan," Peter mumbled with a cheesy grin on his face. Rose blushed a shade of red that she never knew she could and let go of Peter's shirt.
"I'll be waiting at the top of the stairs," Nathan laughed. Rose looked at Peter and awkwardly stood up as Peter followed her out the door. Nathan watched them as they came out of their room. Rose opened her mouth to say something, but couldn't get it out. She gave Peter a pat on the shoulder and let her hand slide across his chest as she started down the stairs. Peter smiled and relished the moment until he saw the look of scorn on his brother's face.
"What?" he asked.
"Nothing." Peter stubbornly crossed his arms. "I think it's great you two are so close. She makes you happy and soft," Nathan explained.
"Soft?" Peter asked defensively.
"Easier to deal with; your not the secret 'let me do my own thing' guy anymore."
"Why are you here? You know you're putting her and everyone else in danger by visiting."
"Maybe I spoke too soon. I came to warn you; Mom had another dream and you might be in trouble in three days," Nathan warned. Peter gulped. He was just beginning to think he and Rose could live with the Rogers family and forget about the chaos.
"Where will we go? They'll find us no matter what we try to do," Peter argued.
"I know, but there'll be a spy that comes by and rats you guys out and then there's no telling what will happen after that. Look, Peter, I know you love her and this has been really nice for you to hide out here, but you have to get out before it's too late."
"We'll leave first thing tomorrow after lunch," Peter promised.
"Are you leaving?" Ron asked Nathan as he headed the out the door.
"Nobody has even had breakfast yet," Lily whined.
"Oh, you folks are too kind," Nathan flashed a grateful smile, "Unfortunately, I have to get back before my big business meeting."
"Then please, take a few muffins for the road," Mrs. Rogers insisted. When Nathan was gone, Peter wanted to get out of the house so he could think.
"We should go on a walk," he suggested.
"That sounds nice, but if someone is supposed to rat us out, then we probably shouldn't be showing our faces much around here," Rose pointed out. Peter sighed.
"So we're on house arrest?"
"Yes." Peter threw his head back and sighed. Rose put her arms around his waist and pecked him on the cheek. "There are good, innocent people Peter. They don't need to be a part of the chaos that's now following me around." Peter hugged her tightly.
"I know, I just don't like being cooped up here in the house. I'm so used to constantly doing something that I forget what it feels like to sit and relax and not do anything," he explained.
"When should we leave?" Rose asked.
"First thing in the morning. Remember that guy I told you about that Claire knows?"
"Yeah."
"Well, Claire talked to him again and was able to convince him to help us out."
"That's great!" Rose exclaimed and took his face in her hands to pull him in for a kiss. "I knew you could do it," she said when they pulled away.
"Sometimes, he can be a little off with his timing, but it'll all work out, you'll see," he reassured her with another hug. "What should we do in the mean time?"
"Lily thinks my hair is really pretty and would love to try to do a few hairstyles with it," Rose said, then quickly added with a wink, "I'm sure you and I can come up with something to do afterwards." Peter grinned and kissed her again.
"Rose!" Lily called as she walked through the house trying to find her. "Oh! I'm so sorry. Was I interrupting something?" Rose smiled and dropped her arms from around Peter's waist.
"No, let's get to it," Rose said awkwardly, following Lily to the dark living room. Peter sat down in a big, cushy red chair and watched amused. He soon became bored and lost in thought. It wasn't the first time he had faced a bunch of killers, but it was different when it had to do with someone he loved very much.
