On The Go

"What do you think?" Lily asked, holding a mirror in front of Rose. Rose ran a hand through the sixth hair style Lily did.

"I love it!" Rose exclaimed happily with a smile. "Hey Peter, what do you think of this one?" There was no response. Rose turned around and smiled softly when she saw his head in his hand, slumped to the side of the chair, sleeping.

"Guess he was pretty tired, huh?" Lily laughed.

"We'll let him be for now," Rose suggested. She helped Lily clean up all of the hair care products and return them to their rightful places. Somehow, Rose ended up carrying everything while Lily took an item one by one from her.

"Where's my Lily flower?" Ron called. The little girl smiled and poked her head out from the bathroom.

"In here papa."

"Your hair looks absolutely beautiful Rose. Lily, did you do that?" Ron pointed to the intricately done hair style.

"Yes and Rose loves it!" Lily chimed.

"She's very talented and patient with her work," Rose commented.

"Well that doesn't surprise me at all. Tell ya what, as soon as the two of you finish up, why don't we go into town to run some errands?" Ron invited them.

"I don't think it's a good idea for me to go anywhere and it could be dangerous to be seen with any of you in public," Rose argued.

"Now now, you let Lily do a quick makeup job on you and then you'll be unrecognizable," Ron said.

"We'll find a new outfit for you to," Lily added, pulling out a large eyeshadow pallet with a rainbow of colors.

"Ok, I guess so, but don't say I didn't warn you," Rose unwillingly agreed.

"Remember, I said quick Lily. We wouldn't want to be late for your Grandma's homemade mac and cheese," Ron reminded her. Lily nodded and started deciding on what colors she should use. Five minutes later, the girl led Rose to her room.

"My mother left me a bunch of clothes for when I grow up, so they should fit you nicely," Lily said, opening the trunk at the end of her bed and throwing the clothes out for Rose to see. Another 5 minutes later and Rose was ready to go. Rose shook Peter's arm until he woke up.

"What?" he asked groggily, slowly opening his eyes.

"I'm going to help Ron and Lily run some errands in town; we'll be back in two hours."

"Hey, you're not going without me," he said, jolting awake.

"Looking like this, no one will recognize me," Rose argued, "If you come to, you'll give us away."

"But what if something happens?" Peter asked concerned.

"I've got these guns," Rose patted her biceps, "and I've got my killer fighting skills. We'll be fine and back again before you know it." Peter stood up and grasped her shoulders, sighing.

"I just want you to be safe," he said softly. Rose put her arms around him and gave him a small kiss.

"You don't have to worry about me. They don't need to get that much stuff."

"Promise you'll come back safe and sound?"

"I'll try me best," Rose answered. Peter nodded, but was still unsure as she hugged him tightly.

"By the way, you look really gorgeous all dressed up like this," he whispered in her ear. Rose blushed and blushed a shade darker when he kissed her.

"Let's a get a move on you star struck lovebirds!" Lily exclaimed, dragging Rose away. The two laughed at the little girls' eagerness to go.

Rose was rummaging through a bookshelf when she felt a dark presence. She looked around alarmed, scanning the tops of everyone's heads for someone suspicious, but found nobody out of the ordinary. She uneasily went back to roaming through the books and quickly found one that looked promising about a girl and a guy that don't get along but when they get trapped together from an earthquake, they're forced to help each other survive and end up falling in love. "That's a good book." Rose jumped startled, dropping it on the floor and slightly tripping as she fell into the side of the bookshelf. She quickly regained her balance and put a hand over her heart.

"I am so sorry, you completely startled me," Rose apologized, laughing at herself as she pushed her bangs out of the way.

"It's quite alright, it was really my fault. I should've known such a thing would happen if I snuck up on a beautiful woman," the man said. Rose smiled and gripped her purse as the man picked up the book and held it out for her to take. "My name is Sylar," he introduced himself.

"Wanda," Rose decided to go by her fake name for her own safety.

"A beautiful name for a beautiful woman," he complimented. After a moment of awkward silence, Sylar spoke again. "So...are you from around here?"

"Uh no actually, I'm from a little town in Nebraska," Rose made up a story.

"Oh! How nice."

"It was," she remarked.

"What brought you here?" he wanted to know.

"I met a man online and wanted to meet him in person to see if he was really worth my time."

"And is he?"

"I think he's the one, but I can't be entirely sure yet," Rose answered wisely.

"Well if not, I'd be happy to take you," Sylar said. Rose slightly blushed for this man was striking, but in an odd way.

"Is this how you flirt with every girl you meet or are you just a natural flirt?" she asked, walking to the register.

"I only turn the charm on for the special ones," Sylar explained, pulling out money to pay for Rose's book for her.

"I'm special?" Rose asked confused. Sylar gave the book to her and she put it in her bag without looking away from him.

"Why yes, of course you are," he said with a knowing, creepy smile as he put a hand on the small of her back and led her to the back of the store.

"What are you doing?" Rose asked, balling her fists in case of a fight.

"It's ok Rose, no need to get riled up because you see, I'm special to," Sylar told her quietly.

"Really?" Rose wasn't entirely believing it.

"Maybe I could show you my powers sometime?"

"That would be cool, but I have to go. I don't want to be late to my man," she lied. Sylar nodded in understanding and let her go. Rose pulled her phone out and dialed Peter's number, grabbing Ron and Lily as she quickly walked out of the store.

"Hey, what's up?" he answered.

"You need to get here, and you need to get here now!" Rose said urgently, hurrying Ron and Lily into the truck with their stuff.

"What happened?" he asked and she could hear the Roger's front door close and open in the background.

"Some crazy guy named Sylar confronted me in a shop and said that he's special to and he knew my name and I think he has-" Rose's hand went ice cold, forcing her to drop her phone.

"Rose? ROSE? Are you still there?" she heard Peter's frantic voice and turned to see Sylar gripping her arm too tightly.

"See, I told you so," he said with a dark, playful tone in his voice.
