Bro Talk
Peter and Hiro reappeared at the Petrelli mansion where the Rogers family was still trying to understand what just happened. Hiro was used to people's reactions when he used his powers. "I am a tele porter and tele time traveler," he casually said.
"Cool!" Lily beamed. Hiro smiled at the girl's interest.
"Hiro, we have to go back!" Peter exclaimed. "I can't leave Rose in the hands of that monster!"
"She told me to get the family to safety and to keep you safe to. I was only fulfilling her wishes," Hiro answered. "They are most likely gone by now to even if we were to go back." Peter grunted angrily and turned around, running his hands through his hair.
"Surely there must be something we can do!" he shouted.
"Is that my son that I hear?" Angela Petrelli peered out over the stair railing and smiled when she saw Peter. "You have come home! What a nice surprise!" she said happily, coming to the bottom of the stairs to greet her son with a hug.
"I wish it was on better terms. This family needed a place to stay for awhile until I can get things sorted out. I would've called to warn you ahead of time, but we were in a hurry and Rose didn't want anyone to get hurt," Peter explained.
"Don't worry, I knew they were coming long before you even knew what would happen," his mother answered. Peter looked at her confused and angry and his mother took it as her que to leave. "Is it only the three of you?" she asked the Rogers.
"Yes ma'am," Ron answered.
"We have a guest room and Claire's old room from when she was living with us; I'm sure they will be to your liking. You can stay here for as long as you need and I promise myself and my family will take good care of you," Angela smiled warmly to provide comfort and gestured for them to go upstairs. She helped Lily with her small bags and followed close behind.
"Take me back there please," Peter begged Hiro once everyone was out of ear shot.
"It is no use! They are gone now," Hiro tried to tell him.
"I don't care! I need to get back to Rose before Sylar hurts her. They are going to kill her if I can't get to her first," Peter reminded his friend. Hiro sighed.
"I have used much of my energy to transport more people and their extra weight than what I am used to. Even if I wanted to take you back, I couldn't and they are long gone on the road by now. I am truly sorry my friend," Hiro apologized, clasping one of Peter's shoulders. "Perhaps I will be recharged by the morning after I have rested." Peter sadly looked to the floor knowing there was nothing else he could do for the time being.
"Where are you taking me?" Rose asked calmly.
"To your death," Sylar answered smirking.
"Where am I going to die?" Rose was curious.
"That all depends on how well you cooperate. You see, your death will be put off since I have others I need to kill."
"That's reassuring," Rose muttered sarcastically.
"Shut up!" Sylar shouted angrily at the stop light, pointing his gun at her. Rose rolled her eyes, receiving a confused look from Sylar.
"That thing isn't even loaded so why bother?"
"You're a smart one," Sylar smiled, turning back around upon seeing the green light. "I use as intimidation to manipulate people to do what I want. I may not have it loaded, but that doesn't mean I can't hurt people other ways," he explained.
"Like what, with your powers?" Rose asked.
"Exactly. You catch on pretty quick."
"Not all pretty faces are dumb," Rose remarked testily, crossing her arms.
"No, no they're not," Sylar agreed, peering at her in his rear view mirror.
Angela had somehow managed to persuade Peter to go back to work after promising to use her connections to try to track Rose down. He parked his car and tiredly walked up the front steps. "Peter! I had no idea you were back!" Claire exclaimed, rushing to hug her Uncle as he walked into the kitchen. He returned the gesture, but she could tell something was wrong.
"Where's Rose?" she asked, pulling away. Peter gave her a hard look.
"I-I don't know," he finally got out. "We were attacked and Sylar took her. I tried to get Hiro to take me back, but he said he was too weak." They glanced at the tele porter who was sleeping on the couch.
"I know you'll find her," Claire tried to be positive, "If you could find me in all of that chaos, then you can track her down."
"I just hope it's soon."
"What does Sylar have to do with any of this?" she asked confused.
"Rose's boss sent him to kill her since she's no match for her own people," Peter answered.
"But he wouldn't hurt her without taking her to her boss first right? Isn't that their assassin code or something?" Claire pointed out. Peter scrunched his eyebrows together in deep thought.
"How do you know of the assassin's code?" he asked curiously.
"I might've listened to some of Hiro's stories about that one sensai. Trust me, you have time, but not a lot of it."
"So what should I do?" he asked. Claire shrugged.
"Find her and find her fast." Peter needed time to think of a plan and went to the mansion's top balcony. None of his plans seemed to work in his mind and he grew frustrated.
"Are you going to join everyone for dinner?" Nathan came for him.
"I'm not very hungry," Peter replied.
"If your going to try to save her, you'll need to keep your strength up," his brother said.
"What am I supposed to do Nathan? She's in the hands of a killer, I only have a few days to find her before they kill her, I have no idea where she even is, and I can't come up with a plan that'll work!" Peter explained exasperatedly.
"I can check with my connections to see what we can do," Nathan offered.
"That would be great."
"You love her, don't you?" Nathan suddenly asked after a few moments of silence. Peter nodded.
"I do and that's why I have to find her. Everyone likes her and yes, I could live without her, but I don't want to. She's been such a positive in my life and I can't let that die just like that," Peter told him. "I saved her Nathan; she could've bled out in the ambulance but I healed her." Nathan gave him a pat on his shoulder.
"I have faith in you."
