A New Friend

Rose had insisted that she clean up her face and change her clothes before letting Peter patch her up. She came to sit back down on the big comfy bed and Peter had his medical supplies ready to go. He pushed her shirts sleeve up to above her elbow and gently pulled the would apart to see how deep the cut was. Rose winced in pain, digging her nails into the palm of her hand. "It's not deep enough for stitches," he told her.

"That's a relief," she said more sarcastically than she had meant to. "Sorry," she quickly apologized when she saw the look on his face. "Most people don't flirt with you if they're supposed to kill you."

"Says the assassin who fell in love with her target," Peter teased. Rose playfully rolled her eyes and watched as he cleaned up her bleeding arm. "This might hurt a bit," he warned, taking off his gloves.

"Why? What are you going to do?" Rose asked concerned.

"I have many powers, some of which I have yet to show you," he answered. Rose eyed him suspiciously before letting her gaze fall back to her arm. She watched as Peter took her arm in his hands and closed his eyes. All of a sudden, she felt the insides of her body patching themselves up and was in awe when she literally saw her would vanish away right before her eyes. Peter opened his eyes and looked carefully to Rose.

"H-how did you do that?" she stammered.

"Like I said, I have many powers, most them come in handy on a daily basis." She slid her fingers over the spot that had the cut and was flabbergasted when it didn't hurt at all. There was no trace of the cut, not even a scratch or a bruise.

"That's amazing!" Rose breathed, looking up to smile at him. Rose leaned in and kissed him, placing a hand behind his neck. He returned the kiss, smiling the whole time.

"I can heal just about anything," he said, breaking away.

"It all makes sense now, why you're an EMT," she suddenly pieced it all together.

"LUNCH IS READY!" Helen called called from downstairs. The two grinned and raced each other to the table. Ron and Lily were already waiting for them as they took their seats.

"Who was that guy and why was he after you?" Lily asked worried.

"He was sent to kill me," Rose said truthfully. The girl gasped and Mr. and Mrs. Rogers shared a look of worry.

"Because of the events from today, Rose and I are going to be leaving as soon as we get ahold of a friend of mine. We don't want of you to get hurt and it's bad enough you had to get involved," Peter announced.

"We all knew the risks we were going to be taking when we agreed to let you both stay here for a while," Ron reassured them.

"So, you're leaving?" Lily asked hurt.

"Unfortanetly, we can't really stay here with that creep running around," Rose told her. Lily frowned. In the short time the two had spent there, Lily had grown quite fond of the softened assassin. "When this mess is cleaned up, how about I come for a visit?" she suggested when she saw the girl's sudden mood change. Lily nodded.

"I would like that," she smiled half-heartedly. Peter helped clean up the dishes and came to find a sad Rose huddled up on the bed. He sighed sadly and laid down nex to her, stroking her arm.

"Why are you sad?" Rose turned to face him.

"I never wanted them to be a part of this. I mean, they're so innocent Peter. Lily is just a kid and if her grandparents are gone, nobody will be left to take care of her and I can't do that to her. We have to leave, the sooner the better," she explained. Peter pulled her to his chest and she rested buried her face into his chest, putting an arm around him to hold him close.

"We're going to be fine," he reassured her.

"But Sylar saw them, he'll come after anyone that's associated with me," Rose said.

"My friend will be here by the end of the night and then he'll get us all to safety. Just trust me on this one ok?"

"Ok," Rose agreed. They could already here the Rogers' packing their bags and they to decided they should start packing theirs. Everyone was so busy packing, they didn't hear the front door quietly open or the person coming up the stairs.

"AGH!" Rose's heart dropped to her stomach and she bolted to Lily's room. Sylar had her stuck in his hold with a gun pointed to her head.

"Come with me willingly and the girl lives," he started, "Make the wrong move and she dies," he added when Peter came rushing behind Rose.

"Oh my baby! Please don't hurt her!" Mrs. Rogers begged. Ron looked at the situation, feeling helpless when he saw it was the same guy from earlier.

"Let her go," Rose said evenly.

"What will I get in return?" Sylar asked.

"I will go with you, nut only if you promise not to hurt these people. They've done nothing wrong and have absolutely nothing to do with this," Rose bargained. Sylar sighed.

"Fine," he released Lily who immediately ran to Mrs. Rogers and was welcomed with a tight hug. Rose took a deep breath as she stepped forward.

"Rose, no!" Peter held her back, "You can't do this."

"I can't let him hurt them or you for that matter," she said.

"He's going to kill you," Peter squeaked out.

"Mr. Banks will want to say his last words to me first and to have the rest of us in the same room to take part in my killing," she sadly told him.

"But Rose," Peter argued, grasping her shoulders. Just then, a man poofed out of thin air, appearing in the center of the chaos.

"Oh!" he exclaimed, surprised by the emotions in the room, "I see I have come at a most depressing departure," he remarked in a thick Asian accent.

"Hiro! You're timing was perfect!" Peter exclaimed.

"Get the family out of here," Rose said urgently. The Asian man bowed his head humbly.

"Come, one hand on your stuff and one hand on my arm," the man instructed. The Rogers family disappeared in thin air and Rose had to blink several times, not believing what she just saw. Sylar looked around the room confused and held the gun back up. Rose could tell the gun wasn't loaded, but she didn't tell Peter because she'd already made up her mind. The Asian man came back within seconds.

"Who's next?" he asked cheerily.

"So this is your friend?" Rose asked, clearly impressed.

"My name is Hiro Nakamura  and I am one of Peter's friends. His brother, flying man, saved me," he introduced himself.

"Hiro, now is not the time for introductions," Peter scolded annoyed.

"Tick tock, are you coming or not?" Sylar asked, growing impatient. Rose hurriedly kissed Peter and hugged him tightly.

"I love you," she said with teary eyes and pulled away. "Keep him safe for me," she told Hiro.

"Rose, what are you-" but Peter's frantic words were cut off because Hiro had already disappeared with him.

"Good girl, let's go say hi to your old boss, shall we?" Sylar led her out the door, still pointing the unloaded gun at her.
