A Job With PrimaTech

Rose pulled her mask over her head and slung her quiver over her shoulder. She quickly went down the back stairs and hopped into the navy blue jeep that was already waiting for her. The driver drove onto the regular road and turned right, following the directions on the jeep's GPS screen. Rose anxiously awaited her stop as they drove down a side street.

Soon, the driver came to a dark alley and slowed down as he pressed a button that automatically opened her door. She got into position and expertly somersaulted out of the car, landing in a crouch. By the time Rose stood up, the jeep was already out of sight.

Rose knocked an arrow on her bow and followed the apartment's emergency stairs up to level 22. She picked at the window lock until it unlocked and slowly opened the window. She quietly leaped into the dark apartment room and raised her bow, ready for action. There wasn't any commotion; the only noise she could hear was the gentle breathing of a sleeping person. Following the noise, Rose carefully squished through the slightly open door to find her target innocently curled up in bed. Rose drew back her arrow, aimed, and fired, killing her target instantly in their sleep.

She left the same way she came in, relocked the window on her way out, and hopped back into the navy blue jeep that had come back for her. Rose took her mask off and changed into her pj's, stuffing everything from her mission into her Adidas duffle bag.

The driver stopped behind Rose's apartment complex long enough for her to get out before quickly taking off again.

Once inside, Rose used her non-traceable phone to call her boss, Mr. Banks. "It's done; Joe Richards is dead and his company will be looking for a new owner in 2 days time," Rose informed him.

"Excellent! I'll have your money delivered to you tomorrow evening at 5pm," Mr. Banks said.

"Yes sir," Rose remarked as Mr. Banks hung up. Rose flipped the phone closed and put it back in it's hiding place. She layed in bed with a smile on her face, knowing that yet again, she'd done her job and had done it well.

BUZZ! BUZZ! Rose's alarm sounded 5 hours later. She lazily turned it off and rolled over. Monday's were never ever that interesting because she took smaller "street" jobs. Rose forced herself out of bed and went to collect the mail; bills, magazines, coupons, and a bright lavender envelope? It was the beginning of September, so all of the major holidays had already passed, Rose's birthday wasn't until April, and she didn't have many friends. Who in the world could've sent her this envelope? As she opened it and read through the letter inside, she soon found out that her friend from New York, Allison, wanted to have a girls weekend. Rose set it aside as she turned the news on and began her morning workout. Sure enough, the assassination of Joe Richards was all over the news and as the news turned to the weather forecast, Rose made breakfast; fruit salad with a bowl of cereal and yogurt. She took a shower, changed, and went to visit her informant for her next mission.

The pawn shop was only 3 blocks away and because Joe Richards wore Palmer Tech watches, Rose had stolen two of them to give her a legitimate reason to be there without looking suspicious.

"Hi there, what can I do for a pretty lady like you?" the man behind the desk asked.

"I figured the weather would be wonderful for walking and since I was out and about, I wanted to trade these in," Rose spoke the code words.

"Sunny today isn't it? Why don't you follow me to the back so we can sign the papers and you'll be on your way," the man said with a tight smile.

"So you were the one, huh?" he asked once they were in the safety of the back room.

"Yep, that was me and here's the proof. It needs to get to Mr. Banks by 1pm sharp so he has plenty of time to process it," Rose explained.

"You realize that in order to get it to him on time that I'd have to get it in priority mail in less than an hour?" the man asked.

"I'm sure that won't be an issue, now would it?" Rose asked in a sarcastic apologetic tone as she reached into her inside jacket pocket for her handgun.

"No, not at all miss! It's just that I'd have to charge triple to get it there that fast."

    "Double," Rose insisted.

"Double and 3/4ths," the man argued.

"Double and a half or we're both dead," Rose gambled.

"Looks like you've got yourself a deal," the man gave in. Rose put her gun away as the man packaged the watches and stamped the envelopes. "Don't you ever get tired of this business?" Rose shook her head.

"Not when I can afford to do fun things in my off time and with my 'talents', I usually get what I want when I want," Rose said.

"Fair enough, but what about a life outside of the business; have you ever stopped to think about that?" he asked.

"Mr. Banks has always said that too many personal attachments will lead to disaster," Rose answered.

"It's a sad way to live," her informant commented. Rose glanced at the clock.

"You have twenty minutes, better hurry," she said as turned on her heel and walked out.
