"Just calm down now."
"I was already calm, asshole."
Percy and Annabeth sighed for what seemed to be the bazillionth time today. (Y/N) and Nico never seemed to get along. The two were bickering again due to their debate about something that was only vaguely familiar now. The Italian boy never seemed to trust Percy's sister, and so it became vice versa.
"Okay, go separate ways now before you two end up dueling again," Annabeth spoke up, successfully breaking the two off. Nico sneered before walking away.
"You really need to try to get along with him," Percy told his sister as they walked back towards the Poseidon Cabin. (Y/N) chuckled bitterly at this.
"He's the one who doesn't want to get along," the jet-black haired female spat. Being Percy's biological sister, she shared a lot of traits with him, if not all.
"Want me to talk to him?" Percy offered but (Y/N) shook her head.
"It's useless," she replied, running a hand down her face. "He doesn't even want to have a proper conversation, much less befriend me." Percy caught a hint of frustration in her voice. He wondered how much his sister actually cared about this matter.
(Y/N) thought back to their first meeting. She had greeted him with a smile, but he stared at her blankly and disregarded her outstretched hand. She thought to herself about how was she going to be nice to people, when they couldn't even say 'Hi'?
"You know what, head in first," Percy said, which caught (Y/N)'s attention. She shrugged and continued walking towards Cabin 3. Percy, however, went towards the Hades Cabin. Knocking on the door, he was met with di Angelo's obsidian gaze, which quickly disappeared when said boy shut the door.
"Open up, di Angelo," Percy ordered. He heard a grunt from inside the room and soon it opened. Percy shoved his way through and sat down on the chair. "Be honest with me, what's your deal with my sister?"
"Ugh, great. It's about (Y/N) again," he spat, a hint of disgust as he said (Y/N)'s name. Percy narrowed his eyes on him. Sure, he was a fun guy, but mess with his friends and family? You basically arranged an early meeting with Thanatos.
"Listen, Death Breath. I don't like the way you treat her. You may not see it, but she's hurt by what you do. She became like that with you because you started it," the son of Poseidon said, sea green eyes gleaming with anger. Nico's monotonous expression betrayed him and a hint of surprise got through.
"I don't exactly trust children of Poseidon."
"Or you just can't trust another Jackson after what happened." Obsidian eyes widened. Percy grit his teeth. "We resolved that already, didn't we? Don't hate my sister just because she's related to me," Percy said, walking towards the door and going out, slamming it behind him. Nico was left in a state of surprise. He never thought that (Y/N) didn't actually despise him. Thinking back to when they first met, he realized he was the one who woke up om the wrong side of the bed.
And that he was like that because he felt something. And so he treated her like how he did to Percy when he found about Bianca.
Oh.
That's why.

(Y/N) got out of the Poseidon Cabin well past midnight. Creeping among the trees, she drew her (weapon) in case a harpy showed up. She made it safely to the dock where she sat down to relax. The full moon's reflection gleamed on the water, illuminating the surroundings. And then someone sat beside her.
"Jackson, you're aware it's past curfew, right?"
"Exactly, why are you awake then? Something's bothering you, isn't there?" (Y/N) said, bright eyes glancing at the figure seated a few feet away from her.
"None of your business and not something you can help." That hit a nerve in (Y/N). Tears brimmed her eyes and she wiped her nose.
"Why can't...why can't you trust me? You seem to trust the others, even if you don't get along that well with everyone. Is it something I did? Is it because I'm me?!" she ranted in a weak voice, cracking a bit. Nico saddened. He knew this was his fault, yet he didn't know how to correct it. Knees drawn up to her chest with her arms around it, (Y/N) looked as fragile as still water. As if one wrong droplet could destroy the tranquility in it.
And then the son of Hades thought of the dumbest thing he ever did, to him anyway.
He pulled her into an embrace, which wasn't much given her position. Chin resting atop her head, arms wrapped around her, he did his best to show he wasn't angry or anything.
But (Y/N) didn't budge.
Eyes wide with shock, she could do nothing but stare at the brunette's jacket. She soon melted into the embrace.
"Sorry."
"I'm sorry too."
Sometimes, whole-hearted apologies are more sincere than announcing your undying love for each other.
