Brighter Than the Sun (Leo Valdez X OC)

This was requested by @AliceKatJackson ! I had a hard time with this one since I rarely write about OCs and was quite stumped for a while until my friend spammed me with writing prompts (thanks Nyra, you're a life saver). Enjoy!

"Dude she is so hot. Like no wonder she's the daughter of the sun god. Damn."

Leo, Jason, and Piper were hanging out near the archery range. The son of Zeus and daughter of Aphrodite had just finished a sparring match in the arena and decided to talk Leo out of Bunker 9. Only for him to start drooling over some camper that had arrived a few months before.

"What's her name again?" Jason asked.

"Kat... Walker is it?" Leo replied.

Piper sighed and rubbed her temples. "Leo. I love ya to pieces, you're one of the best friends I've had. But either you're asking her out now, or I'm replacing your eyeball with a high velocity tomato. I can't stand you talking about her for another five minutes."

Leo chuckled and jumped down from the rocky ledge they had been sitting on, overlooking everything. "Alright Beauty Queen! Wish me luck!"

Piper smirked as Jason pulled out his golden sword, as if expecting a fight. Leo ignored them and strolled over to Kat.

Asking her out turned out to be a much more daunting task than originally thought.

Her long blonde hair flowed across her shoulders in smooth waves, and freckles coated her skin. She stared  down the shaft of an arrow with such concentration she looked to be in another world. Kat let the arrow fly, and it hit dead in the bullseye.

Leo cleared his throat. His face was growing warm and he prayed to all the gods he wouldn't burst into flames. "Hey, er, you're Kat Walker, right?"

Kat looked over at him and his heart pounded in his chest. She smiled. "Yeah I am. You're Leo Valdez? Hephaestus cabin?"

Leo nodded and forced a confident smile. "That's me! Bad boy supreme!" He laughed nervously and Kat giggled.

"Hey, want to see something?" Kat asked, her blue eyes glimmered with a sort of chaotic excitement.

"U-uh s-sure!" Leo stammered. Why was he getting like this? He was never nervous around girls! At least never one this level.

Kat giggled again and grabbed his hand, dragging him across the green fields of The Valley and to the glowing Apollo cabin. Leo squinted his eyes and peered at the gold cabin, wondering if you could be blinded by looking at a cabin representing the sun. Kat threw open the door and pulled Leo in behind her.

"So, um, what was it you wanted to show me?" Leo's stomach was filled with flaming butterflies and he was pretty sure he was flaming too. Was it normal for the Apollo cabin to always be this warm? He glanced around the cabin. It was empty. All her siblings were still out training. "And not that I'm complaining, but isn't it against the rules for a boy and a girl to be alone in a cabin together like this?"

Kat smirked. "I'm a bit of a rebel." She glanced around the room. "Not that there's many rules to break here. Although I do like sitting on the beach at night. As for why I brought you here-" she reached out her hand toward Leo's face and if his skin had been any less tan, it would've been bright red. "Your hair is on fire and I figured if you were going to spontaneously combust you might prefer to do that in private." She patted out the small flames on his head.

"You gotta be freaking kidding me. Look, if you hadn't been distracting me with your godly good looks I wouldn't be-" Leo stopped. "I mean, what I was trying to say is, and really what I was going to ask earlier, I think you're really pretty and... Would you want to go out with me sometime?" He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly.

Kat stared at him for a second. Her dark blue eyes were hypnotizing. Finally she smiled shyly. "Yeah, I'd like that. I think you're really cute," she said.

"WHOOP!" Leo pumped his fist into the air and Kat laughed. "Oh and by the way, McShizzle here normally is much smoother with the ladies."

Kay's smile grew, if that was even possible. "I think I like you stuttering instead. It's sweeter." She stepped closer to him.

Leo gulped and glanced at the arrow filled quiver and bow still strapped to her back. "Now um... Please," he said. "Just don't shoot me." He cupped one hand around her check and the other around her waist, pulling her even closer. He leaned forward, and kissed her.

The two pulled apart, and rested their foreheads against each other.

"I don't think I'll be regretting saying yes any time soon Valdez."
