2) A Mission

Percy walked down the hall into the main reception area, where the always nice receptionist, Irina, was. In truth Percy didn't like Irina, she was way too cheery and the skin on her cheekbones seemed to stretch an unnatural length. But what freaked him out the most was her creepy long nails, always painted a bright Pink color and sharpened as if ready to kill. Which wouldn't be surprising considering he suspected she was a monster.

"Bye Percy!" She shouted in her squeaky voice as Percy tried to evade her.

"Bye!" He replied, smiling his best fake smile. Fake it till you make it right?

He pushed open the door and exited the building, finally making it. Snow was falling heavily outside but Percy's coat seemed to keep it all out. He hailed a taxi and handed him a golden card. The cabbie raised an eyebrow.

"In this snow? Kid get outta here." He said handing back the card. Percy sighed and took out 3 drachmas. He handed then to the cabbie, who in return gave a sinister smile bringing to view all his yellow teeth. Taking a bite of each coin he began to drive.

"Camp-Half Blood it is! Buckle up!" He said.

Percy shook his head. Money moved mountains. The golden cards were new to Camp, in order to make it easier for demigods to move inconspicuously throughout all of New York, the original cabbie drivers were paid a wealthy leave by the business man Suez (Zeus' code name) and replaced by nymphs and servants of Olympus. If anyone arrived and showed them the golden card they were obliged to take them to camp. For free. But no matter how powerful the gods of Olympus were they would never be more powerful than greed.

Before he knew it he was in the outskirts of camp. Making sure that the cab was out of sight, he entered camp. Once he did, warmth was one of the things that engulfed him. The second was Connor Stoll.

"Hey Perce!" He said slinging an arm over Percy's shoulder.

"Hey Connor! Gotten a girlfriend yet?" He asked smirking. Connor gave him an offended look.

"Really Percy?" He grumbled in disbelief.

Percy laughed and shrugged putting his hand around Connor's shoulder. Some time after reparations were finished, Travis Stoll, Connor's freakishly look alike brother, had declared his undying love for Katie Gardner, daughter of Demeter, leaving Connor alone. Even though he was hurt by his brothers sudden departure from his side, he eventually got over it and continued being the same old Connor.

Leo also had a major change. In the end, the gods liberated Calypso, and Leo was ecstatic to meet up with the love of his life. The downside of being free was that they erased her memories and implanted fake ones in her mind. For all she knew she was the daughter of a lawyer and a nurse living in Houston with a happy life. This left a one-sided romance, as Leo remembered every single thing that they had lived together. He was heartbroken. To add even more pain to the wound, he had been poisoned during the war by a Hydra. Leo was protecting a group of younger campers who had been cornered by the despicable creature and he managed to barely keep it away from them, and that was the cost. With the help of the Apollo campers, and Apollo himself, he managed to survive. The only thing was that the poison had already entered his system, so every now and then when he over worked himself he would get flashes of pain as the poison acted up, but that rarely thanks to two over protective beings. Jason and Piper.

"Anyways," Connor said interrupting Percy's thoughts once again (Man his Adderall was really not working today), "Chiron told me to tell you to meet him in in the big house when you arrived. So can you do me a favor and get Leo, Beth, Jason, and Pipes? Thanks!" Without waiting for a response and patting Percy on the back, he turned around shouting thanks.

Percy chuckled and shook his head, making his way towards the Athena cabin. Frank and Hazel had left to Camp Jupiter so that Frank could do his job as praeter, well the second one to Reyna. They visited occasionally but didn't stay long, staying in touch mostly through Iris Messaging.

Jason and Piper had decided to stay at Camp Half-Blood to help with reparations there, as they knew that Reyna, Frank, and Hazel had Camp Jupiter covered. Besides, after the events with Nemesis and Leo came to light, they couldn't help but feel a little guilty that they'd been pushing Leo away. So to make up for that they made sure to hoard him with love and care, treating him like their child.

Percy hadn't even knocked on the door when it swung open, revealing none other than Annabeth Chase. With a smile, she jumped on him and wrapped her legs around his waist, engulfing him in a passionate kiss. He could feel her hands on the back of his neck as he put his on her hips. Finally they pulled away out of breath and completely flustered.

"Get a room you two!" Yelled someone, probably Clarisse.

"Annabeth." Percy said once he regained his breath.

"Seaweed brain." She responded with a smile. He smiled and kissed her forehead.

"There's a meeting being held in the Big House. The seven gotta be there." Percy said, "Err what we have of them."

"I'll get Jason and Piper. They're probably together anyways." She shrugged getting off of him and straightening her shirt. Percy nodded and gave her a hug.

"I'll get Leo then." He said.

With a nod she left for cabin one. Percy sighed and began walking towards the Hepheastus cabin, casually waving at some campers he recognized, which weren't many. Most were new campers or transfers from Camp Jupiter that had come in exchange for differently skilled campers. However most were just gone, whether they had gone home or they had died Percy couldn't tell. Once again he was reminded of the vast amount of campers that had been lost to the war, the ones he couldn't save.

When he arrived at the Hephaestus cabin he saw that it was practically empty aside from the enormous machine in the middle of the cabin. The sound of a drill rang around the room, and at the foot of the thing sat Leo covered in soot and almost unrecognizable.

"Um hey Leo?" Percy said looking at the machine up and down.

Leo did not respond nor did he look up from his monstrosity.

"Leo?" Percy insisted slightly louder and finally Leo looked up, the drill turning off.

"Oh hey Percy!" He exclaimed taking off his googles, which left two clean circles around his eyes where they had covered.

"Um what's that?" He asked. Leo smirked and Percy almost couldn't keep in his laughter at how much like an elf Leo looked, especially when he was covered it oil and had tons of  metal scraps in his hair.

"It's a protocol. I call it Sexy01." He said pointing, but when Percy didn't laugh he corrected himself, "I'm  kidding... obviously. I don't actually know what to call it but, I guess that's a start."

Percy stared at Leo then burst out laughing. Leo smiled at that, but couldn't help but be confused about the late reaction. Once Percy stopped laughing he puffed out his cheeks and placed his hand on the door that protruded from the machine, glancing at the control panel on the side.

"What does it do?" He asked.

"The name says it all. It makes people me!" Leo said winking and Percy chuckled again, "Once again I am kid-ding! It's actually my first attempt at a cloning machine. So far it's going pretty good."

"That is actually amazing." Percy said staring at Leo, who blushed under the attention.

"Well it's not that great. I still need to make sure that the wires are connected properly so that there's no incidents. And besides, anyone could do it, it's really not that great." He mumbled taking a towel out of his tool belt.

"No Leo this is incredible. I legitimately think you're the next Nikola Tesla." He said. Leo stared at him. "What?"

"Well, you do know that he tried to build a death ray... right?" Leo asked tentatively.

"Oh... that's pretty cool too I guess." Percy chuckled, "But off topic. We actually have a meeting in the Big House so get cleaned up Mr. Deathray."

"Hey!" Leo responded tossing the towel at Percy, who didn't react fast enough and was hit in the face with it, "Im not bonkers just yet. I'll meet you there, lemme just shower I stink."

"You said it not me." Percy said pointing towards a bed in the corner, "I'll wait over there."

Leo stuck his tongue out at him and disappeared into a door.

*********

Fifteen minutes later Percy and Leo were making their way towards the big house. They knocked on the door and entered once they heard Chiron's voice.

  "Hey Chiron." Greeted Leo.

Inside Jason, Piper, and Annabeth already sat on the couch discussing something quietly while Chiron paced around the living room.

"Hello Leo. Percy." He nodded at them, "Please take a seat as I have something to discuss with you."

It only took Percy and Leo a couple seconds to get seated, Percy next to Annabeth and Leo sandwiched between Jasper.

"I have gathered you today because I must discuss something of dire importance with you all. I realize that the war has left you tired and in dire need of a vacation, however I have called you lot specifically because I know that you will get to the bottom of this, smoothly and quickly."

"Chiron, Percy told me that this was a meeting for the seven, so what about Frank and Hazel?" Annabeth questioned.

"I have notified Camp Jupiter asking for them to come as soon as possible. Unfortunately, that may not be fast enough." He frowned.

"What's wrong Chiron?" Asked Piper holding onto Jason's hand.

"Well, there has been some unusual monster sightings in the same exact place, Times Square. Now, usually monsters travel in groups, so I wouldn't be too concerned, however that happens only if they are the same specie. The problem is that these groups have contained hell hounds, empousa, and even some gryphons. Groups of monsters mixed together or, pray that I am incorrect, working together. Which is why I need you to find out why they are frequenting this specific spot. My guess would be that there's a demigod in the area, but they appear to travel there randomly and my observers inform me that they leave empty handed. This has led me to believe that it is a child of the big three hiding." He said.

"Do you know anything about the child? Have you contacted Olympus asking if any of the three have had any incognito flings?" Asked Leo curiously. Chiron sighed sadly.

"Unfortunately not." He responded solemnly.

"Then don't you think that Nico should be here? Just in case it's his sibling?" Annabeth questioned.

"I agree. Besides it'd be much easier for us to sneak past any monsters. You know, evade as much conflict as possible." Added Percy as a second thought.

"Believe me I've tried to contact him. However communication to the Underworld has not been good. I know not whether he has received my messages or if he will even be able to come." Chiron responded, "So once again unfortunately, we lack a resource."

"That sounds good enough for me." Percy said confidently.

"We won't let you down Chiron." Annabeth added getting up. She was stopped by Chiron grabbing her hand.

"Annabeth I called you in for another reason actually. I apologize I did say I needed the seven, however in this case it's six. Your mother, Athena, left me a message asking you to travel to Olympus tonight, as she has some requests for the construction of a new building."

"Another building? For who?" She asked.

"She did not specify. In fact she remained uncharacteristically vague about it." Chiron shrugged.

"Oh." Said Annabeth clearly disappointed.

"Annabeth-"

"It's fine Percy. Really. I have to ask Zeus and Ares some questions for their temples." She rolled her eyes. "Even though they really don't need any more inflating in their ego."

The tension that had been building up automatically disappeared. Leo scrunched up his eyebrows and winced slightly, however this went unnoticed by everyone but Jason, who's eagle eyes caught the movement and he shuffled towards him. Annabeth kissed Percy good-bye and wished them all good luck on the quest before walking out the door towards her cabin.

"I recommend you all get going as well, you need a good nights rest for tomorrow. I trust you will get to the bottom of this." Chiron said with a proud gleam in his eyes. Percy smiled and ran to catch up with Annabeth, while Jason ran up to Leo grasping in his shoulder.

"Hey bud how you doing?" He asked worriedly.

"I'm fine Jason." He responded, to which Jason gave an unbelieving look, "Really!" He pushed him away, "Go with Piper she said something about wanting ice cream."

Without looking back Leo sped towards bunker 9.

Piper caught up to Jason and they both watched as their friend walked away.
