Chapter 30 - Battlefield

I continued on my way out of town with my new pet behind me, but not before I asked for directions on my way home. A 3 day walk.. What was I expecting?

I signed, tired of all the walking around in circles to find nothing. It isn't a bad thing that the Amulets of Destiny didn't exist, it was just the part of wasting my time with it and believing in lies, believing bedtime stories my mother told me and that it would achieve world peace, The only thing keeping my hopes high up until this point was that damn prophecy, the lies the whole world believed, the lies Notch created, it just reminded me about how he was already on the move lying to his citizens....so why was I so happy that it didn't exist?

Yes, of course I found myself not being scared of Hero anymore, but why did I care so much about him dying, about him getting hurt..?I didn't know him that much, and In this world its about survival for the fittest. God, I found myself in another loop hole in my mind.

I finally reached the gate and exited the town and into the forest, walking to wherever my feet took me, sighing when I stepped my feet on the outside grass and beginning to run through all the clumps pf thoughts  in my head over again.

Herobrine wanted me gone...My parents were across the nation probably worried to death...Or maybe they were dead... When that thought crossed my mind  I suddenly stopped in my tracks. My parents, dead? My mother was so scared when I left, and Herobrine attacked right after that.  I haven't seen my father in months, he was supposed to be on a mission, a mission to search for Herobrine. But what did he accomplish when Herobrine was right in front of me the whole time...? Did he somehow fail and go back? No...he was a very good tracker, not even that, he was the best tracker in the battalions, he wouldn't give up so easily. Then..what happened?

I took in a deep breath, feeling selfish that I hadn't gave them a second thought ever since being kidnapped, but this was no time to feel guilty. No...Herobrine's goal was to kidnap me, not to kill for no reason, and father was strong, he was the leader of the guards so i'm sure hes safe, but what about my friends..? Well I didn't know to much about them, and it was weird to even calling them that. Jordan,Lukas,Herobrine. I only knew them for a few days, I don't even know if I'd called Herobrine even an acquaintance, we're basically enemies right? He acts like he hates me, he probably wouldn't care if I was dead now that he knows i'm useless. So then why did he let me go..?

I had to stop when I felt my head collide with something hard, taking me a few moments to realize I ran into a tree, of course got lost in my mind again. I turned around to see the cute wolf stick her nose in the air, at first I felt insulted  because it felt like she was laughing at my stupidity, but she looked at me for two seconds before turning around and started to walk away.

"Ay, where do you think your going?" I asked while running a hand over my forehead. She got a few meters before turning around to stare at me, sticking her tongue out with that doggy smile of hers.My mood was bad enough so her doggy smile made me feel a little better, but it was gone in a instant when I saw what direction she was wanting me to follow her to.

"That's where Herobrine is..." I signed, oddly feeling a sting of pain while looking in that direction, to why I cared I had no idea. I looked down at her to see her continue to walk that way.

"Hay! Come back!" I called, only for her to continue walking. Leaving me no choice, I followed the little puppy while slowly breaking into a run to catch her before she got there, but she was smart enough to fasten her pace to keep out of reach of me which only made us get to the house quicker.

Out of breath, I finally saw the house slowly came into view and instantly my heart sank again. The puppy didn't stop when we were there though, she decided to go to the door and begin to scratch at it until I followed her.

"What is wrong with you? No, were not going in their" I chuckled a bit to hide the fact that I was in a bad mood while pulling her away from the door.A thought ran through my mind that she might've smelled food in their, maybe she was hungry and thats why she knew where it was? Heck, even I was hungry.Maybe it wasn't a bad idea to grab some materials. Last time here I didn't want to spend another second in sight of him and didn't think about resources.

"Fine, you stay here," I said to her while entering the house as she sat down and waited for my next move, it was like she could understand me and it was kinda getting creepy, but I stuffed the thought back into my head and continued my way into the building.

"Herobrine...?" I called out inside as I shut the door behind me, a small spark of hope in my brain that he might've changed his mind and wanted me to stay when I left, but I got no response, which was better than him telling me to leave so I wasn't to disappointed.  I was relieved to see that nothing has changed with the house, almost scared that I would enter and see blood on the walls. I assumed he was downstairs, resting or something, so I decided to go there. I walked slowly down the creaky steps, still a little nervous about what I would find, but as I continued my way down the steps I slowly relaxed when I  found nothing inside the room.

"He's...Not here?" I looked all around, looking for any traces for him. The room looked as I left it, the portal was still closed, chests were still open from the items we took. I could feel my eyes dilated when I started to panic. Where was he? Is he okay? Did something happen? I ran up stairs as fast as I could this time, calling out his name, hoping he would be in some other rooms, I knew anyway when he didn't answer but of course he still wasn't anywhere to be seen.

Maybe he...left. He told me he would try to open to portal back to save Lukas and Jordan and finish his task. The thought of him giving up on his friends, on defeating Notch, on me... made me give up on him easily. It hurt me to realize that I could see him do something like that, giving up on people without any hesitation. I signed and walked slowly out of the house, I decided not to worry about him, knowing him long enough to know that even without powers Herobrine was strong enough to fend for himself.

Immediately after I walked out of the house, I was hit by many droplets of water. Looking up I could see the dark clouds slowly overcome to blue sky and I could hear thunder in the distance and the wind whistling through the trees. I looked at the puppy, who stood up in excitement when I came back but she saw the sad look on my face which immediately made her ears droop,I know this day couldn't get any worse.

"Maybe we should just stay here for the rest of the day, its gonna be nightfall soon. I'll see if there is any food we can cook up " I said while looking down at my wet dog.I turned around and slowly turned the door open to let the pup inside, but I stopped in my tracks when I heard a big explosion.  I turned my head quickly  toward the direction of the noise, not even taking a second for my heart to start immediately racing. Even the small puppy jumped from the loud noise,  running over to my legs to hide from any nearby threat.

I looked around, not noticing anything until I looked up in the air, seeing smoke slowly move up from a particular spot near the horizon, I could feel my eyes dilate from looking at the smoke cloud slowly disintegrating in the dark sky. Whatever that was, whatever that might be ...It was nearby.

I didn't think about the consequences from me running over into god knows what, there was only one thing on my mind that was I knew that it was most likely caused by Herobrine. I ran with the little puppy on my tail, my feet squelching in the mud until I reached an opening that stood out to me. Trees were destroyed, fire was spreading and dying from the rain in the sky, huge holes in the ground and two small figures in an open area slashing swords against each other. Of course it could get worse than this.

"Herobrine!" I screamed out, continuing to run my way over to them. My legs were moving on their own at this point, and I didn't expect the casualties that would soon happen as I stepped foot into the battlefield

"HEROBRINE!" I cried out to him, close enough to him where I could see his face which was bloody and wounded. He turned his head slightly to look at me, his eyes immediately widening and his sword still against Notches.

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING? RUN (Y/N)!" He screamed as he was pushed back by Notch, who noticed my presence from the beginning but continued to stare at Herobrine.

"Don't leave your eyes off the target, you idiot," Notch gave an evil smile toward his younger brother, nearly slashing him with his sword.

I didn't stop running, I was scared no- I was terrified! But my adrenaline kept me going. I didn't stop even when I felt the ground slightly move within one of my steps, and I was suddenly thrown forward. I couldn't help but scream from the pain of what felt like my back burning. I was thrown to the ground In merely a second, my head with hard stones.

"(Y/N)!" I could hear him scream from a distance and then hear the slashing of swords again.

I took in a breath of air only to feel nothing come into my lungs. I couldn't breath. I dry heaved to do whatever it took to get air back into my lungs, but my attempt was futile. All I could see was the cloudy sky and the rain pouring down my face. Was I going to die here?

I tried to get up but failed my first attempt and collided my face with the ground , I tried a second time, my arms shaking in pain as I lifted myself off the ground. As I slowly began to move my body again, small portions of air started coming into my lungs and suddenly I was able to  breath again.  My vision was blurry and my body was heavy, which made me stumble back before I walked over to them, slowing breaking into a run.I was surprised I was alive heck, I was surprised I could run. It was hard to see, my ears were ringing, my back was in so much pain that I couldn't feel a thing. I didn't care what just happened, I just kept moving forward.

I was halfway there to the two fighting men, what was I going to when I got there? I guess my body would tell me. I felt no pain, I had no idea if the puppy was still behind me but I wasn't about to look back. The sky I slowly began to see the sky getting darker and darker, but my eyes were only fixed on what was in front of me. I was almost there, only a few more steps... Just a little further.

I heard a cry out behind me, and I ignored it at first until I remembered who was behind me. When I turned around and all I saw was a little puppy attacking the feet of a skeleton and an arrow in her leg. I stopped in my tracks and turned back.

"NO!" I ran over to the wounded puppy, letting my legs run over to more danger. "GET AWAY FROM HER!" I got out my sword, which I held in my inventory this whole time, and swung at the skeleton, its bones fell immediately into thousands of pieces.

I put away my sword and looked at my dog, she was laying still on the ground, her eyes were open and she was breathing, good.. She was alive. I signed,my adrenaline never leaving me as I picked her up. She whimpered at first but quickly relaxed into my arms, and I continued my way into danger.

Herobrine and Notch were still fighting, each sword clashing and blocking each other attacks. Herobrine seemed like he was doing okay with his powers gone and his wounds not yet healed, but he was still losing. The grin on Notchs face never dissipated throughout the battle, this event was like some kind of game to him.

I was almost there, I was so close. I didn't even know what I was going to do when I got there, I was just doing what my legs told me.I limped my way slowly to them, my body unable to move any faster.

As I got closer and closer to the two brothers, my heart raced faster and faster. I was so close, just a few more blocks...But I was forced to stop in my tracks when I heard another huge explosion, but this time is was right in my line of vision and suddenly all I could see was smoke.  I was far enough to not be hit by the impact, but Herobrine was practically inside of it..

"HEROBRINE!!!" I screamed bloody murder, not noticing all the tears that went down my face. I clenched the dog in my hands harder, and my whole body felt like it was going into shock. "no..No..NO!!!" It felt like my whole life ended when the smoke cleared and no one but Notch and blood on the ground was visible. I didn't notice his confused face because of my blurry vision from all the tears rushing down my cheek. I crashed down onto my knees, unable to move forward anymore. It was silent, the only things heard was the thunder, rain, and my mourning screams.
