Good and Evil pt. 3

Good and Evil pt. 3

The front gate of Territory B was like a prison. Barbed wire, tower lights, and soldiers, armed with guns surrounded the gates. Aliyah signaled me to follow her, and she found a soft spot in the gate near a bush. There, she showed me a spot were there was was a hole big enough for us to push through. We put our packs in first, and then we crawled through the damp mud.

On the other side was an exact clone of Aliyah. Honey skin, sepia eyes, and a smile like the sun.

It was Alice. It had to be.

Just as I was going to speak, Aliyah hugged her sister, who pushed her away gently. "Ali, we should probably leave first, before-"

An alarm sounded from one of the towers, and all of a sudden, a large pounding noise seemed to sound from inside the building.

"Too late!" I said.

We took off running toward the forest.

It wasn't long before the soldiers in the towers caught on to us, and gun shots were sounded around us. I was nicked twice in the shoulder, but I powered on as if nothing could hurt me. Of course, Alice seemed to be tiring easily.

Not a millisecond later, the twin of Aliyah stumbled, and she coughed, blood spurting from her esophagus. "ALICE!" Aliyah cried out. She was at her twins side in a second, noticing the hole gaping in her chest. I gasped, but knew that this was it for Alice. She wasn't going to make it. She wasn't trained like us. She'd pass out from pain first, and then blood loss.

She was from Territory A. Land of smiles and sunlight.

"ALICE!" Aliyah screamed again, sobbing into Alice chest.

I tried to pull her from Alices body, but Aliyah elbowed me hard, knocking the breath out of me. "Aliyah, we're free game out here! They could kill us any second!"

"I don't care!" Aliyah shouted. "Alice needs me!"

"Ali...you need to run with Zachary...he's the key to beating the government. He's the only...way we can win..."

"What are you talking about?" I said.

"Your files...I found them...you need to run...you are the Cinereal..."

"Alice, no you're okay, you're going to live, you can tell us on the way, okay?" Aliyah sobbed.

"Ali, go with Zachary...Hurry and run. Take my pack."

Aliyah quickly started to sob again, so I grabbed the pack off of Alice, feeling remorse deep inside of me. Aliyah screamed, grabbing soldiers attention. I grimaced, hoping to God Alice wouldn't feel anymore pain once she passed out.

Aliyah and I stumbled through the large forest of the west, until a scream pierced the sky, and all Aliyah could do was cry for her beloved Alice.

It was up to us to run now.

Run and live. For Alice.

"If you want a happy ending, that depends, of course, on where you stop your story."
