It's been a few weeks and you've persuaded Tony to let you use the mind stone in Loki's scepter to further your research. The day has been going fairly successful when Nat enters the lab.
" So make any progress yet ?" She inquires.

"Actually, there is an extremely interesting reaction with the scepter." You excitedly blurt out.

Nat looks you in the eyes and grins. " That's not exactly what or who I was talking about. Come on, we all feel the chemistry between you two... I see how he looks at you, when he thinks no one's looking."

You finally give in and put you hand up to quiet Nat. " SSHHHH. We're  trying to keep it professional around the lab but yes, we're spending more time together."

" And...?" Nat digging for details.

"We've been running together, taking walks in the evening, talking a lot."

"And.....?" Nat knows Caps a gentleman but he's also a man.

"Yes, ok ! Maybe a little more. But I'll protect his honor and leave it that" you say under your breath with a giggle.
You place you hand on the counter and can feel it vibrating. That's definitely not normal! You look back at the scepter and see it's starting to shake off its stand, the centrifuge next to it, is spinning so fast it's about to break apart.

About that time JARVIS announces " Containment protocol commencing in 10 seconds. Lark please evacuate the lab."
You and Nat rush for the doors before the containment field seals off the room. You realize your notes are still on the counter, you haven't uploaded them to JARVIS's main frame in weeks.

" My notes, I can't lose them." You grab your notes off the counter and look up to see Nat on the other side of the doors and the shield engaging. She is screaming and trying to override the system. You see Tony, Bruce and Steve run up to the other side of the glass. You start to lose sight of them as the room is filled with the blinding light of an explosion. Steve is the last thing you see before going unconscious.

Everyone is gathered outside of the medical bay waiting for any update from Tony and Bruce. Everyone is visibly upset and Steve is pacing back and forth. The Med Bay doors open and Tony emerges. Everyone stands up and looks to him for information.

"We've been able to slow the internal bleeding but she's no where close to stable. She has three fractures to her spine, we had to remove a damaged kidney and there is massive swelling in her brain." Tony can barely continue, he is physically and mentally exhausted.

Nat starts to cry, Clint moves to comfort her. Steve can't stand any longer and drops into a nearby chair with his head in his hands.
Tony takes a deep breath and continues " There's something else... There are three small fragments of the mind stone lodged in her spine. We can't remove them right now, if ever."

Everyone is in silent disbelief for several minutes when the doors open and Bruce steps out. Everyone looks to Bruce for additional news.

"Well, I've been able to stop all the internal bleeding and her body somehow withstood  removing her kidney. Now it's just waiting to see if the swelling in her brain goes down." Bruce turns to Tony " Can we talk for a minute ?" As he gestures back into the Med Bay.

"Yeah, of course." Everyone watches them step over to a virtual monitor showing your vitals and test results. Tony is visibly stunned and grabs the counter to steady himself.

Inside the Med Bay, Bruce brings Tony over to the monitor. "I found something I think you should see. Take a look at the DNA work up. Do you see it?"

Tony is intensely looking at the screen." Tell me, I'm reading this wrong?"

" No, you're reading it right." "Lark's your sister. Half sister actually... By your reaction I'm assuming you didn't know?"

Tony runs his hands through his hair and drags them down his face. " No, I had no idea. Do you think she knows ?"

" Honestly, I can't say, I thought I really new Lark, but obviously that's not the truth now." Bruce puts his hand on Tony's shoulder " I'll give you a few to process this." He steps out of the Med Bay. He is immediately ambushed by the team looking for an explanation to Tony's reaction. " It's not my place to say. Just know Tony might need some space for a while." He turns and re-enters the Med Bay leaving everyone wondering.

Over the next several days, you lay unconscious in the hospital bed, hooked up to every machine possible. Everyone takes shifts staying with you, talking to you, reading to you. Tony and Steve spend the most time with you, usually just holding your hand and hoping for a reaction. It is taking a toll on the entire team and they are quietly eating lunch in the kitchen when Bruce rushes in trying to catch his breath.

" I don't know what the hell is happening but....Lark's wounds are suddenly healing at an accelerated rate. One of the spinal fractures, ...is almost completely healed. Her brain swelling has decreased by ....fifty percent."

Steve jumps up and rushes to the Med Bay meeting Tony at the doors. Tony looks at Steve " Did Bruce find you?"
Steve shakes his head " Yeah, I just heard. How is this happening? "

Bruce approaches the Med Bay with everyone else. Tony runs his hands through his hair " I have my theories so I'm running new scans right now."
The proper voice of Jarvis comes over the lab speakers " Sir, the scans are complete. Do you wish to hear the results?"

" Yes, Jarvis." He says quickly.

" The scans indicate that Ms. Monroe's cells have mutated, sir. It appears that there is not only Mind stone fragments in her spine but Mr. Roger's blood samples were radiated in to her body during the explosion. It seems that she has gained Mr. Roger's accelerated healing abilities, enhanced stamina and strength. There is also a high probability of telekinetic powers, sir. At this rate of healing she should be awake in about an hour, brain swelling down to less than 5% and all spinal fractures are projected to be healed in a week. Is there anything further you wish to know regarding her DNA, sir?"

" No! That will be all, JARVIS." Tony quickly snaps when he hears DNA. There is a mix of relief and shock on everyone's face.

Thor looks at Steve and places a hand on his shoulder  " You should be in there when she wakes up. We can wait out here."
With his hands locked behind his head and a large sigh, Steve walks through the glass doors.

Thor turns to Bruce and Tony " Can her human body handle the power of even one fragment of the Mind stone?"

Bruce shrugs his shoulders " We have no way to tell until she's completely healed. We can only hope that there's enough traces of Steve's blood to contain it."

Nat looks at Tony and Bruce, " I suggest until then we don't say anything to Steve. If the thought hasn't crossed his mind, let's keep it that way. He doesn't need more to worry about." Everyone nods their head in agreement.

A little while later you start to open your eyes, everything is blurry but the sounds are clear.

"I'm here Lark." You recognized Steve's voice. As your vision clears you see his tired but smiling face.

" You look a mess soldier." You manage to get out of your tight throat.

That brings a grin to Steve's exhausted face. " Wish I could say the same about you, but you're beautiful as always."

You finally ask him ." What happened?"

He looks down and touches your arm " There was an explosion in the lab." You remember feeling the impact of the shock wave against your body. Steve can see that you don't completely remember. " Lark, you got caught in the lab and sustained several injuries."

Things start to come clearer. You go to sit up but you can't move. " Steve, I can't move my legs. Why can't I feel my legs?!" You start to panic knowing the truth. "Steve, I can't move!!" The monitors start to glitch and flicker. You struggle to rip the oxygen line from your face. Everyone is still out in the hallway.

Nat looks behind Tony and Bruce who have their backs to the windows. "Guys, you need to get in there now. Something is wrong."
Bruce and Tony rush through the doors. They can see the monitors and equipment shaking and sparking around you and Steve.

Steve looks to them for help. "Tony, what is going on?" You continue to struggle to sit up crying.

Bruce yells to Tony. " We need to sedate her now." Tony tosses Bruce a syringe that he immediately injects into your IV. You quickly start to fade. "Steve, I need to know what happened."

He looks at you " Your back was broken in three places Lark." These are the last words you hear as you drift back into darkness. The three men step out into the hallway with the others. Steve looks questioningly at Tony. " Was that Lark, doing that?"

Bruce adjusts his glasses. " Well it's safe to say JARVIS was correct about the telekinetic abilities."
