Overdrive
The beach was cleaned up in just over nine months, thanks to a combination of Izuku's control of One for All improving at a rapid rate, and adjusting his training plan every few weeks to account for the extra muscle and stamina.
Izuku's body was able to perfectly contain 10 percent of One for All. Anything above that and he started to give off excess energy in the form of green lightning. FaJin let him bump his strength up to 15 percent, Transmission putting his speed even further, though he could only handle Second Gear for now.
Danger Sense worked exactly the same as before, Smokescreen and Blackwhip were both mind over matter in terms of controlling them, so they worked almost as well as they used to. Float worked perfectly just like Danger Sense, though with only 10 percent of One for All he couldn't reach his former top speed.
Any combo or supermoves took a lot out of him, but with time and practice he would regain his former control.
With 70 percent of the stockpile drained, Izuku could feasibly only access 30 percent until he mastered what energy was left and began to train to improve it. Give him 50 years or so and he'll return One for All to it's former glory.
Fortunately, the vestige's quirks retained their supercharged state even with a smaller stockpile, thanks to spending 50 years or so marinating in pure energy.
______
Izuku was knocked out of his thoughts by a brick. More specifically, his foot hitting a slightly uneven brick in the path and sending him towards the floor.
Or I guess I'll just die. Wait...
Izuku froze as a small hand tapped him on the arm, cute finger pads glowing briefly pink and stopping his fall.
"Sorry for using my quirk on you without asking!" A painfully familiar voice said cheerfully. "It would be bad luck to trip and fall just before the exam though, right?"
The greenette turned his head to the side, wide green eyes locking onto the short, brown haired girl smiling sweetly at him, pressing her toe beans together to let his feet return to the floor.
His throat closed up, and he found himself unable to speak. Instead, Izuku just nodded quickly.
Don't cry. Don't cry. Don't cry don't cry don't cry don't cry don't cry don't cry don't cry....
Funny. Even the second time in this situation he still can't talk to her.
Ochako jolted slightly, her eyes widening.
"Oh, we're gonna be late! I'll see you inside! Bye!" She said with a friendly wave.
Izuku followed after his friend, struggling to keep himself together. It had been so easy the last ten months, no contact between himself and the people that had once been his friends. Even with Katsuki there it hadn't been too hard, the blonde had changed a lot between Aldera and the War.
Ochako hadn't.
She hadn't changed one bit.
And it hurt.
___________
Stepping off the bus, Izuku let out a sigh.
Time to show them what the Ninth was made of.
He could see Ochako, Tenya, Aoyama and Shoji waiting outside battle centre B. Closing his eyes, the Last Holder concentrated, calling on all of his quirks.
One for All, Full Cowling: 15 percent! FaJin: Faux 20 percent! Transmission, Second Gear: Faux 25 percent! Blackwhip: Eraserhead Style! Smokescreen: Cowl! Float! Danger Sense!
Opening his eyes, Izuku watched the massive doors to the city opened, to the other examinee's confusion. Where was the countdown?
A streak of emerald lightning passed by the other teenagers, shadowy tendrils, a smoky cowl and golden light trailing after him at a speed that would make even All Might nod in approval.
"What are you all waiting for??" Present Mic exclaimed. "There are no countdowns in real battles! Go, go, go!!!"
Izuku's right fist hammered through solid steel and electrical components, splitting the two pointer into two pieces, the shockwave tossing the smaller one pointers around it into the walls of the alley, making them burst apart too.
Sprinting off to find more robots, Izuku shook his fist painfully before wrapping Blackwhip around each of his limbs, cushioning and supporting them to avoid breakages.
Spotting a three pointer, the Monster of Musutafu descended on it's prey.
________
Shota Aizawa liked to think that he was a rational man. His co workers and ex students would say otherwise, but they were being irrational. He knew potential when he saw it, and they didn't have any.
The Eldrich abomination on his screen however...
Okay, that probably wasn't being fair to the kid, but the tentacles, glow-y ness and billowing smoke clearly said 'eldrich being'.
The feral grin didn't help.
"Eyo, what's with the squid kid?" Present Mic exclaimed.
Aizawa pinched the bridge of his nose, reminding himself that murder was unheroic.
"Examinee 7843, Midoriya Izuku. Quirk: Energy. A stockpile type quirk that took 10 years to manifest, it accumulates an unknown energy that can then be turned into other kinds of energy. So far he has discovered Kinetic, Thermal, and Psychic, which for those of you that don't know is how those with Telekinetic quirks utilise their powers. A rather versatile quirk, with very good control despite only having it for 10 months." Nezu said with a strange smile.
Aizawa sighed, resigning himself to his fate.
"So he's some kind of prodigy?" He asked wearily.
"It would appear to be that way, wouldn't it?" Nezu exclaimed with a laugh.
"Huh. Groovy!" The Voice Hero replied.
Aizawa took a breath. Held it. And exhaled.
"He'll be in your class this year Eraserhead!" Nezu chirped.
The exhausted man slammed his head into his desk.
________
Izuku's foot caved in the torso of a three pointer just as the city lurched, sending everyone but Izuku to the ground.
A shadow fell over the main road as the Zero Pointer found it's targets. A building shattered under it's fist, sending concrete and broken glass raining down on everyone below.
Then, the screaming began.
Teenagers were running left and right, scrambling to run, get away, escape the Titanic faux villain.
Izuku grabbed onto examinee's with his blackwhips, yanking them out of the way of falling debris or off of the ground where they would be trampled. Soon enough, he heard it.
"Ow!"
Like a bolt of lightning, Izuku sprinted in the Zero pointer's direction, throwing Blackwhip under it's arm and over it's shoulder, leaping off of the ground and towards the rampaging behemoth.
It reached out it's hand, the metal fingers already closing around the space he was about to occupy before he twisted his entire body to the left, swinging between it's outstretched arm and bulky torso like one of the old pre quirk era superheroes.
Spinning through the air, Izuku launched himself over the Zero pointer's shoulder and released Blackwhip, drawing the tendrils back towards himself for but a moment, the inky black strands lashing out once again to wrap around the robot's mechanical throat and completely halting Izuku's momentum.
Drawing his knees up to his chest, Izuku channeled the absolute maximum amount of power he could into his legs and launched himself feet first right at the Zero pointer's face.
"Faux 50 percent, Smash!" He roared, slamming both feet into the oversized target.
Through a combination of the double 50 percent Smash, momentum from reeling himself in and Blackwhip crushing the machine's throat, the trap enemy's head was detached instantly from the rest of its body and launched across the city.
Meanwhile, Izuku did six consecutive backflips in mid air with his arms raised at his sides and legs straight, before landing hard on the concrete in a textbook superhero landing.
The greenette stood with a quiet huff, apathetic eyes admiring his handiwork.
Look Ma, I've got bones!
His eyes moving to focus on Ochako once more, he wavered.
"Can- Can you stand?" He stammered, extending a hand to his former future friend.
She gave him another of her radiant smiles.
"I can, thank you! What's your name?"
"I-Izuku Midoriya."
"It's nice to meet you Midoriya! My name's Ochako Uraraka!" She beamed.
There was no recognition in her eyes. Nana's comforting hand was the only thing keeping him from bursting into tears.
"It's.. nice to meet you too O- Uraraka."
Oh god it hurt.
