Charge Up

The next few days passed exactly as Izuku remembered them, full of mundane classes like Literature, English, Maths and Art. Having already passed the tests and exams for these subjects Izuku treated them like refresher courses, not that he really needed them.

At the end of the first week they finally got their first Heroics class, which had been on hold as it was a brand new subject that they weren't just continuing from their previous schools.

Izuku already knew who would be teaching, unlike the rest of his classmates who were chattering in quiet excitement, each coming up with their own theories as to which pro hero would be teaching them.

Just like the first time the bell rang and no hero appeared. There was around a minute of confusion before the rapid fire thud of approaching footsteps made everyone sit up straighter.

  "I AM...."

A collective gasp of amazement filled the room, the door to the classroom slamming open under the vast strength of...

"...HERE! Coming through the door like a normal person!"

All Might. In all of his glory, the undefeated Symbol of Peace was leaning into the room, his signature grin lighting up everything around him. Izuku was barely able to hold back his tears, though his delighted cheer burst out alongside everyone else's.

  "It's All Might!"

  "It's really him!"

"He's so much cooler in person!"

"Is that his silver age costume?"

  "It's so retro!"

The Number One Hero marched Heroically to the front of the room, everyone's undivided attention on him. He stopped at the podium and put his hands on his hips, standing in his signature pose.

Well, signature non 'Smash' pose anyway.

"Good morning students! I will be your Hero Informatics teacher this year at UA! You can think of this class as 'Heroing-101'! Today you'll be doing..."

The hero pulled out a card with 'BATTLE TRAINING' written on it in big bold letters.

"Live combat?" Izuku could feel Katsuki's feral smile.

  All Might continued.

"Now, what could be more heroic than looking good? Which is why you have these!" He exclaimed, clicking a button built into the teacher's desk that made the wall cubbies open up and allow access to the student's costume cases. "Put those on and head on down to Ground Beta!"

All Might vanished, his afterimage blurring and disappearing for everyone but Izuku, who's eyes watched All Might sprint from the classroom. He was just as excited to put on his costume as everyone else, but more like greeting an old friend rather than making a new one.

Heading to the changing rooms and unlocking his case, Izuku gazed upon the contents with a smile. A combination of Izuku's little vigilante spree and the months fleeing from All for Tomura and his hordes of Nomu had caused his old costume to practically fall apart at the seams, the once well fitted, cut and polished hero costume worn down to a mishmash of scrap metal and patchy fabrics.

But now it was back, and better than ever. The steel shoes that his red trainers slotted into, his old Air Force gloves that he hadn't seen since the War, the cape that was a homage to both Torino and Nana, the dark green jumpsuit inspired by his mother's original design, the steel mouthguard that was once dull and feral looking, now sleek and shiny.

Those stupid bunny ears that were supposed to mimic All Might, but soon enough inspired Ochako's own costume, and made Eri announce her favourite animal was a bunny, followed very closely by unicorns and narwhals.

Izuku kept the hood down and his steel mask around his neck, leaving his face exposed so that his smile could be seen. He would not become a monster that never smiled, never showed his face, never showed mercy to his enemies. Not again.

The greenette did some light stretches to ensure that the costume fit him correctly, checking the cape's golden clasps to make sure it wouldn't fall off by itself, but could still be removed easily by him.

The cape had been a good addition to his costume. It was fireproof, edge resistant, an insulator, could act as a shock blanket for victims and was surprisingly soft and comfortable. It was the standard issue for those that requested capes in their costumes, available in all kinds of colours and patterns.

In the event of a strong enough force yanking on the cape it would detach itself to avoid causing accidents. Like say, getting caught in a plane's turbine, or stuck to a rocket about to blast off.

The wise words of a little old costume designer had saved many heroes' lives, whilst also looking 'Fabulous Darling!'.

Izuku was the first to arrive at Ground Beta where All Might was already waiting, hands on his hips and bright smile focused on Izuku.

"Well well, that's an excellent costume you have there young man! Being practical is far more important than being stylish, though I think you've got both down perfectly!" The hero laughed, giving a thumbs up.

It hurt not bring recognised by his old Master, but All Might would always be All Might, retired or not. Like Ochako, the goofball hadn't changed a bit.

"Thank you All Might!" Izuku smiled right back. "I have to admit though, my first design.. kind of sucked..."

But it was the version made by his mother damnit, so he would have worn it again with pride!

  All Might laughed heartily.

"I'm sure it could have been no worse than my first design, which was so hideous and impractical it was rejected immediately! There isn't much one can do in terms of support equipment with titanic strength after all! At least back in my day!"

A clatter of footsteps drew their attention as the rest of the class entered the room together, costumes shining in the light.

"They say the clothes make the pros ladies and gentlemen, and you all look so cool!" All Might complimented.

Izuku approached Ochako and Iida, who were standing off to the left of the rest of the class.

"Hey Deku, I love your costume! It's super cool and practical!"

  Izuku smiled at the brunette.

"Thanks, I like yours too. Very space-y, it suits you well."

The girl put her hands on her pinker cheeks and half turned away.

  "Aw gosh, thanks Deku!"

Izuku chuckled, turning his attention to their much taller friend.

"Your costume is also thematically appropriate. Ingenium, right?" He asked.

Iida nodded, chopping his hand in agreement.

"I'm impressed that you noticed! Indeed, my costume is based on my brother's! Your's is simple but effective, a good combination!"

They were cut off by All Might, who cleared his throat to gain the class's attention.

"Now to explain what you'll be doing today! Can anyone tell me where the most heinous of villains hide..?"

__________

Izuku stood staring at the bomb, Ochako on his right also examining the prop. They were the villain team, while Kaminari and Jirou were their heroic opponents.

Well this was different. Had All Might rigged things in the original timeline? Or maybe something had changed thanks to his current lack of a relationship with the man. Izuku sighed. Well, there was no way to know at this point.

Izuku turned to face his partner, who was still examining the room.

"Jirou's quirk gives her enhanced hearing. Kaminari generates and releases electricity. Neither of them have done any physical training, and both scored quite low on the assessment test on Monday. You would be best suited to taking on Jirou, your quirk will grant you an instant win so long as you can touch her. Watch out for the extendable jacks on her earlobes though, I doubt extending is all they can do."

"Wow, you're super smart Deku!" Ochako exclaimed with a grin.

Izuku blushed, tugging his mask and respirator over his face to hide it.

"T-Thank you. Uh, so if I go out and look for them, and you guard the bomb. We could do a kind of pincer attack..?"

Izuku already knew his classmate's quirks inside and out, as well as having hundreds of strategies to take them on solo. But to avoid suspicion he could only use information he'd gathered up to this point, making his plan flimsy and a bit basic. That didn't stop Ochako from staring at him like he was some kind of genius though. He did not like that. Nope.

"O-kay! Hey, I can use the desks and stuff in the other rooms as weapons! Oh, or I could build barricades and obstacles!"

Izuku just gave a thumbs up before turning to the only exit to the room and waiting.

  "Heroes may enter the building!"

Izuku levitated off the floor, floating through the doorway and down the corridors.

_______

Jirou plugged her jack into the wall, listening briefly.

"Uraraka is on the fourth floor, she's making a lot of noise.. I think she's throwing stuff around? I can't hear Midoriya."

Kaminari thought. He thought hard. His brain worked harder than it ever had before.

  "Maybe he's invisible?" He said.

Jirou stopped. She turned and faced the blonde with the most disgusted expression she could muster.

  "I'm sorry, what..?" She asked.

Catching the faintest whoosh of air, the girl turned back around.

He was flying. Midoriya could fly. And apparently could figure out quirks after seeing them only once. Man he was fast. Wait...

"Run!" Jirou shouted, sprinting into a corridor to the left.

Kaminari went down the corridor to the right.

Jirou's mind raced. If Midoriya was here then Uraraka wasn't a distraction, she really was by the bomb. Why was she throwing stuff around though?

Making her way up to the fourth floor, Jirou soon found out why.

Chairs, tables, desks, potted plants and other assorted generic office items were stacked floor to ceiling infront of a single door.

Yeah, she wasn't getting through that.

"Kaminari has been captured by the Villains!"

  Shit.

"I.. give in.." the girl sighed, finger to her earpiece. There was no way she was taking on Midoriya and Uraraka together, and that wasn't even considering the mountain of debris she would never in a million years be able to pass.

  "The Villain team Wins!!"

_______________

Izuku flew around the corner, gaining on the sprinting electric user and flipping around in the air, planting his feet between the other boy's shoulder blades with only gravity to aid his attack.

Kaminari went sprawling while Izuku used the kick to perform a backflip purely for style points.

"Give up Hero!" Izuku exclaimed, the mask obscuring his face leaving only his glowing green irises visible to the other boy.

  Kaminari shrieked.

  "Never you scary-ass villain!"

There was a single golden spark.

  "Indiscriminate shock, 1.3 million volts!"

Izuku was fast. But not yet faster than what was pretty much an instant lightning storm. Electricity crawled along his arms, green and yellow battling for supremacy around Izuku. The green began to spread, latching onto and sucking in the energy released by Kaminari, the phenomenon continuing until Kaminari collapsed with a loud 'Wheeey!'.

  Izuku!

  Kid!

  Ninth, the stockpile!

"I know.." he murmured, staring down at his hands.

  One for All, 32 percent.
