Chapter 5|Help with the Hint
Link sat outside the temple again. The whole place had a dark and dreary atmosphere... Almost as if whatever that priest did made the whole place depressing. He wondered about whatever the voice told him- Sword? What sword?! He didn't even know how to use a sword! He sighed in frustration, he just wanted to go home. But... Something in his gut was screaming at him to take this risk.
He didn't know anything about this world. Or swords. Or most certainly the "Bane of All Evils"! But maybe he knew someone who did. Or someone who could at least help him fine someone who did.
First thing's first: He would go back to Eden, and tell her about what happened and give her the things she sent him to get. Then he'd ask her about whatever the situation might be. Yeah! Sounds like a plan. Hopefully before the day is over, he will be able to know what exactly is going on.
So Link stood up and started walking out of the temple, towards the little house he was now staying in, until he went home or otherwise. The market crowds and music didn't even phase him, he was on a mission. He walked inside of the house, just behind the market, and set all of the items he had fetched on the counter. "I'm back." He called to the house, and soon the plump lady came out of what would be his room. "Ah, hello, deary. Did you get done everything I told you to?"
"Yeah, except I couldn't pay the priest. They uh, left-" Link decided to stay quiet about the spectacle he saw. "Oh, you could have left it here, dear. But that's alright, though!" She chuckled.
"Hey, Eden, have you ever heard of a.. A sword that was the bane of evil?" Link asked, taking his chance. "Oh, of course! Everyone has- The sword that only the most honorable heroes wield." She nodded. "Of course, you may have to ask the local historian for more information- but they say that every few centuries, the sword is used against the darkest of evils, by the lightest light." She said, her tone becoming one of wisdom and wonder.
"I'd like to know more. Who is the historian?" Link asked, eyebrows perking. "Ah, he lives in the castle. I'm not sure how you would get into the castle to talk to him; word on the street is that security is tight ever since the attempted assassination on the princess."
Link's eyes widened in surprise. "Assassination..?" He asked. "Yeah. And he got away. But, I'm sure you can get inside somehow!" She nodded. "Good luck, If you need a bed, or food, it's right here." She smiled cheerfully. "Thank you, Eden."
And so Link was off, walking towards the castle, hoping they would just let him in after seeing how defenseless he is. That's really all he can do, right? Surprisingly, the castle was reasonably close. Then again, It kinda has to be. He trots up to the front gate that guards the castle. "Hello?" He greets, unsure due to the lack of people-
But then an iron-clad soldier stepped out from behind the wall and to the visibility of the gate. "Good afternoon, Son!" He greeted firmly, yet kindly. He was obviously strict. He must be a general or something. "How can I help you?"
"I need to talk to the historian, sir." Link said, rocking on his heels nervously. "Do you have an appointment? I don't see anyone on today's list-" He glanced at the scroll in his hands. "Nope. Nothing." He confirmed. "No, I don't. But I need to talk to him. Wouldn't that be okay?" Link asked. It was just a historian after all. "Him? You mean her! The historian is our very own Princess Zelda."
Link widened his eyes a bit. Eden must have not known. He's never going to see that historian now.
Unless...
A plan quickly forms in Link's mind, hoping it'll work. Might be a bit illegal, but that's okay. He needs in. And that's what he'll get.
