Chapter 23
A thunderstorm was raging inside Sean's head. Rain pelted down on the mind-plaza where a small group of multicolored people had gathered, chatting nervously amongst themselves. Sean himself stood a little ways away from the bunch of Personas, glaring daggers at a specific, anxious doctor who stood in front. "Now then, Alexi, care to explain why you decided to put all of my hard work in jeopardy last time you were in control?" He spoke with an oily sweetness that was just dripping with enmity.
Dr. Schmaltz shifted nervously under his unwavering stare, looking down at his feet to avoid meeting Sean's eyes and speaking in his weak, accented voice. "I- I didn't want to hide anymore. We've done that for too long. If they are going to become our friends, then they deserve to know the truth about us. All of us."
"Yeah!" The orange 90s nightmare known as Brandon spoke up, bouncing on his feet again and jumping up to be seen amongst his identical brethren. "at first I didn't like them, but I can't deny those two bro-tato-chips have grown on me since then. I'm siding with 'lexi."
"Those twins will become great heroes even without our help, I can feel it, but they won't achieve their true potential without their amazingly awesome teacher to guide them!" SM-M floated above the group, his overly-large cape providing a little bit of shelter for the people below, though his arms were crossed and his face held a frown, "I say we tell them. It can only help."
The last of the Persona's who were on site, the owl-masked hero named Elias, said nothing. No agreements, no disagreements, just silence. Sean had always admired that about him, he was always impartial.
Sean took a long, deep breath; exasperated. He was only going to say this once. "All who side with Alexi, kindly raise your hand."
Three of the five present heroes hands went up.
"Thank you. Your contribution has been considered." Smiles, grins, and high fives were exchanged within the group, "..but a decision has already been made. And I cannot have you interfering."
Looks of triumph turned to terror as Sean snapped his fingers, and Alexi began to disintegrate.
He let out a blood curdling scream of terror as his body evaporated into dust before their eyes, crying out in pain, before succumbing to his fate. A thin layer of grime that was once their friend settled on the brick ground, condensing into a small pile below their feet. A few moments passed, and everyone just stared blankly at where Alexi had once stood, until the dust started to move in the wind.
It swirled up in a miniature tornado and was blown into the hospital that the doctor had once called home, while his brothers spectated in grim, horrified, open-mouthed silence. Said building started to shake in its foundation, wooden boards and nails appearing out of thin air and flying around, beginning to close off the windows and doors that opened it to the plaza. Sean watched this operation without any emotion shown on his face, concentrating on sealing it off.
The whole process took about a minute, but by the end of it, the sky-blue hospital almost mirrored the dreary house across the street, and banging could be heard from the inside; as if someone was desperately trying to escape.
Cries of outrage were silenced as, one-by-one, the same process occured to the rest of the Personas who had raised their hands. Superman-man tried to fight his way out, throwing punches at Sean until he was only particles hitting the man's face; and Blur tried to outrun the dust, sprinting in circles and screaming all the while, only to hasten the process instead. Two more buildings were boarded up in their wake: the gym and the arcade were no longer functional.
Once it was over with, and all opposing Personas had been locked away, only two buildings remained un-boarded: the green house where Sean resided, and the violet theater which housed Elias.
The magician faced Sean, mouth slightly agape. If his mask didn't cover his eyes, they would probably be extremely wide as he finished processing what had just happened. "A-Are you sure that is wise? Doing what you've just done?" He asked, stuttering slightly as shock rolled over him.
Sean looked away from the magician, the skyline's dark clouds draining their color into a pure white void as he began to wake up. "don't question my actions Elias. Unless you want to be locked up as well."
Before Elias had the chance to answer, the world went completely white and Sean entered the waking world. Extremely annoyed, he wanted nothing more than to simply fall back asleep and never wake up. That's what he wanted, but the man in a tuxedo had other plans.
